  1. I don't see any meteors crashing to earth, I do not see thousands of miles of earth incinerated in seconds, nor do I see all the sun light blocked out from debris in the air, no masses of debris falling from the sky around the world. No massive die off of of all vegetation on the planet. Squillions of people are not dying from an dramatic change in climate. Come on, get a grip. I know it makes for good dramatics, shock and horror to act like today is just like the time of the extinction of the dinos. But the reality check is, we are not experiencing anything even like what happened when a massive asteroid was believed to have collided with the earth 64 billion years ago. But as I asked before, if you are a true believer, have you gotten rid of your dog/s yet (each one equal to carbon foot print of one 4 wheel drive sports vehicle a year)? If you really believe the sky is falling and want to save the planet, then the time to act is now before it is too late, no sacrifice is too great to stop world wide devastation and the rapid extinction of the human race...eh? (did you hear Gore has bought yet another huge ocean front part time home/property...LOL, but even more amazing is anyone would believe a word this x vice pres who is heavily financially invested in selling carbon!)
  2. OFA FCI (European) BVA (UK/Australia) Excellent A-1 0-4 (no > 3/hip) Good A-2 5-10 (no > 6/hip) Fair B-1 11-18 Borderline B-2 19-25 Mild C 26-35 Moderate D 36-50 Severe E 51-106 The new system for FCI only has A B C D E, so you can combine A1 and A2, and combine B1 and B2.
  3. Bet, for those who not up on it, What is "A" ? What is the precentage of dogs tested in the general population that are "A". Another words of 100 dogs tested, how many would be A's? So what they found was if you bred 2 'A' dogs together, that 1 out of 4 pups was affected? Do they (who is they?) believe that one in 4 is an improved rate? What is the current rate of affected dogs in litters that are from random parents? Any further sugestions on reducing it down from 1 in 4 affected rate?
  4. Oh, great now we have climate change deniers on DOL [sIGH!] Surely you have enough of cyberspace to troll. Leave the dogs alone! Di Ohh scary a denier. Remember Rudd's speech at Lowy. He stated that Australian citizens (approx 2/3 rds of the population) who questioned Rudd's opinion and his Tax donation to world redistribution solution on climate change were radicals and dangerous persons (sounds like some thing the leader of China would say to whip the masses back in to line eh?). I was waiting for the announcement of the 'Report a Denier' hot line.
  5. Money well spent on a Y2K bunker? You have to wonder why Seattle and the Silcon Valley where not privey to the need of Y2K bunkers, not as savy about computor programs as ABC I guess. This is not off topic. It is the members of the chruch of Global Warming who want all Australians to not have pets (or cows or sheep or horses or pigs or..blablabla). To save the planet we must be green go veg! (and only imported veggies, as we have to save our rivers and restore farm land back to native bush. If you are going to be a good greenie and want to save the planet from global warming, you must act now! So have you, as a devote to the church, given up your dog for the cause yet?
  6. So what to do with this bunker now, ABC should store their wine in it you say? You must have a lot more money to throw around than me to be so happy about your tax dollars being waisted. Maybe they can use it as a crypt for the first 30,000 Australian farmers who are driven off their land by the Greens?
  7. Have her checked for spinal injury. Hope she is back to normal soon.
  8. Yea, so why did ABC need to build a bunker to hide in, and paid for with Tax payer money. Over reaction and histeria. The sky is falling.
  9. Try this link, first topic listed, then follow links http://www.abc.net.au/rn/futuretense/stori...010/3034584.htm
  10. Want to hear some real shock and horror, listen to the ABC radio segment from this morning. Listen how there was no motive to say it was all a bunch of bunk. Listen to how 12 billion in Australia was spent on something that was not going to happen. Listen to how even the public funded ABC radio spent our money over reacting to hysteria by building a bunker that the senior ABC staff hid in on years day....the cowards...LOL. Now lets hear about global warming ABC? Nothing left to discuss, the world is doomed if we do not over react and over react NOW? It is all fact now, nothing left to discuss, the only thing left to do tax the heck out out of everything we do, and then redistribute this wealth of Australian citizens to poor countries? Sure you got this one right too ABC? http://www.abc.net.au/cgi-bin/common/player_launch.pl
  11. I always use Dogtainers and only recommend them. They have offices all over the country and can arrange for pets in any part of Australia. I never try to cut corners or shop around when it comes to shipping dogs even more so when shipping overseas, there are too many details need to work out correctly and I want to know the complany I use is excellent. I think I also saw that Dogtainers was the MDBA shipper of the year. Here is their link http://www.dogtainers.com.au/
  12. Oh sure, of course only those 'Nasty dog breeders' need to worry about the BMTS Breeder Microchip Tracking System (wink wink nod nod). The Uni folks are already pushing your idea, I am sure you will be pleased to know other ways the BMTS can be used against nasty dog breeders. When your pug shows up at the vet for a vaccination and the vet thinks he must have a breathing problem and writes this in his record. Your name as his breeder will now show up in the data sent to the Uni to track inherited disease in purebred dogs. This will not hurt breeders who never breed sick dogs, it will only hurt those who breed dogs with structure extremes or illness, they will be exposed (wink wink nod nod). I am sure this information can be sent to the breeder's shires so it can also be used to remove the license of any nasty breeders of sick dogs or dogs with structure extremes. I bet you were pleased to see the work recently done at the Uni on short nosed breeds. Showing how their brains have been changed due to facial/head features selected for by nasty breeders. Not to worry, the abuse of these dogs by nasty breeders will not go on much longer. I am pretty sure in the next 5 years we will hear that there is a move being made to ban nasty pug breeders. So do you have a petition I can sign or a rally I can attend to 'Stop Nasty Dog breeders' or call out for the 'Breeder Microchip Tracking System'?
  13. This is great stuff. So if you sell a pug to some one and they turn it into the RSPCA when it is 8 years old (RSPCA then sells said pug for more than you did as the breeder), you as the breeder would then have your name published (where local newspaper?) as selling a pup to a home that dumped it and you would be fined (how much maybe 5x times the sales price of the pup?). If the shire thinks that you seem to stand out as not the best breeder by their standards or if 'people' complain about you, then they will pull your license to breed. Would certainly take Shire control to a whole new level, maximizing policing of those nasty breeders. This is better than just making it illegal to sell dogs, as you could with this law get breeders for the life of the dog they sell, and for up 16 years after their last pup was bred due to the harassment they received for being a nasty dog breeder! Yes!!!! I just love your plan. Ticks all the right boxes. The bit about making breeders responsible for what the owners of the dogs do is just fabulous. Something they will have no control over and this can be used against them for the total life of the pup. Wouldn't you just love to see their faces when they hear for the first time that a pup they sold 10 years ago was dumped at the shelter and they are in big trouble now! This is just brilliant!
  14. I think you are being far too optimistic. I give it less than 30 years. There will not be pet shops by that time as there will be very very few pet owners that are not in jail. The only dogs being bred will come from the RSPCA/Uni joint dog breeding program and facilities. The only people who stand a chance to get a dog (or any pet) will have to be; 1. Inspected by the RSPCA monthly. 2. Permitted by each of the following; their council, state and fed government yearly. 3. Licensed by each of the following; their council, state and fed government yearly. 4. Bonded for the amount of 5 violation fees and/or the cost of their home, which ever is greater. 5. Insured for pet health care, their health care, any injury caused by pet, pet care fees for remainder of pets projected life in case of owners death, suicide or imprisonment due to Pet Ownership Code violations. 6. Paid up in advanced the projected average annual violation penalties of $4000.00 per pet of the 'Pet Ownership Code of Practice'. 7. A member of the Watermelon party 8. Agree to feed only a low carbon vegan diet 9. All excrement must be organically certified as recycled in their own subsistence fruit and veg garden. 9. Must have a Masters degree in NWO CC WR (New World Order, Climate Change and Redistribution of Wealth). 10. Agree to never keep said 'pet' in the inhuman state of being a 'pet' as dictated by the federal policy of "No More Exploitation of Pets Act" and will turn said 'pet' over to the 'For the Greater Good Society' for appropriate disposal of 'pets'. Or maybe it will be just a little less complicated. Under the 2025 'Peta' Law it will just be illegal to own, wear or eat animals.

  16. You need to write in sentences so people can understand what you are trying to say. After looking at the link I am aussuming that you are an animal rights activist and think that pruebred dog breeders are stupid too, eh? From your link The proceeds from seized assets and profits and from fines will be pumped into animal welfare agencies such as the RSPCA, the Lost Dogs Home and the Lort Smith Animal Hospital, said Mr Baillieu. The RSPCA will be given long-sought powers to enter, investigate and seize animals from puppy farms and other companion animal breeding businesses that breach the code of practice. Oh joy! Exactly what will make every small breeder stop breeding. There is nothing there to save small home dog breeders in Victoria, stop with the rubbish.
  17. Haven't the time to read all the posts. Just wanted to tell a little story. Very elderly man, mid 80's. His wife had died several years ago and 'her' poodle had just died of old age. All of their married life she had one poodle after another, all the while he was longing for a different type of dog. Now that the last poodle was gone, he was ready to get his breed. I talked him into a middle aged dog from rescue. However not one rescue organization would allow him to adopt due to his age. He was devasted, really hurt his feelings. I got really mad about what had happened to him, found a rescue group I knew and they found him a quite middle aged female, med sized, walked well on leash, house trained, likely to play ball and was a lovely dog. He out lived this dog by many years! Point is, we have no idea what tomorrow will bring. Live for today and let your Nan do the same.
  18. Exactly. The original poster said that people seem to pick out their dogs based on how they look instead of how they act (breed behavior traits). We can hardly blame buyers for that when the emphasis in the breed standards are 95% or more about looks. The breed standard is where it all begins so I have been told so many times. Some breeders may spend a lot of time selecting for and culling for the proper breed traits such as working, hunting, herding and so on. But that is not reflected by looking at the standard, is not reflected in the Championship and is usually not reflected by the breeders web site or ads that are showcasing their dogs. Typical ad will say the parents are champions, pups are X colour, health testing, maybe some thing that says their dogs make excellent pets. Usually followed by the halo implying, 'We breed for type structure and temperament, only breeding when we want a dog for our selves'. I have seen many many litters advertized without one word about the parents personalities, never mind breed traits. Lets face it, breed typical behaviors and working traits are for the most part not the headline topic of the breeders when representing their dogs to the public. The public is only reflecting back what they perceive the breeders think is important and that is how the dog looks, who could blame them for that? If the standards gave 50% weight to breed behavior traits, perhaps the breeders would start to also give it more importance in the presentations of their dogs to the public. Just my opinion.
  19. Most breeders I know say their breeding practice it to breed to the standard. That the standard is the description of the breed that will maintain that breed and bring it in to the future. The standard is a written record and ideal of the breed, it is the minds eye of what the breed is. So where better for anyone to learn about the breed than the standard. Everyone should be sent to the standard to learn about the breed they are interested in. You can usually find a line or two some where near the top of the standard about history, temperament, behaviors or instincts. Here are 3 standard comments that are not about appearance and focus on the what the dog is suppose to be like. 1. No history mentioned Temperament: Outgoing and confident, friendly, courageous and intelligent. Alert at all times, not aggressive but fearless 2. No history mentioned Temperament: Should be alert, lively, self confident and active. 3. No history mentioned Temperament: Firm, balanced, reliable, restrained temperament. Neither nervous, nor shy or aggressive. It is easy to tell what group they belong in and to get a real idea of what makes these breeds different to each other and what it is about them that is special. All starts with the breeding, eh?
  20. Now I understand. It is not about promoting ANKC breeders so the public can benefit from more availability of quality bred pups. ANKC breeders never breed pets and the public should feel very lucky if they ever get a chance to have an ANKC pup (per Happyfoot). This has nothing to do with preventing puppy farms and will likely increase their sales #'s in these shires. It is not an attempt to stop the death spiral that ANKC is experiencing. It has nothing to do with concern over the future of dogs, their owners and breeders during this time when all dog people should rally together to protect the rights of dog ownership. It is all about savings the ANKC breeders get on rego. Gees sometimes I really do make things far more complicated than they really are, sorry.
  21. Oh wow look at this ANKC membership over the past 15 years had dropped by about 1/3 from 55,000 down to 34,000. That is an incredible decline, something must be going terribly wrong. Many, if not most of these people will not be breeders either. They will be pet owners doing agility, obedience, other activities, spouses and family members, businesses and organizations. Yes a very good idea to put a lot more pressure on this rapidly dwindling group of dog breeders. We can know this is for the greater good and will certainly help get rid of puppy farmers. edited to add, Makes me think of the saying, With friends like these who needs enemies.
  22. Seems to me that several others have brought forth documentation to prove their points. You are the one who says we just have to take your word for it. So what about it, is there anything in print we can see or read. Can you explain the 12-16 month comment on the web site? or does your word over rule that web site? You forgot to add, they said "If you are good, followed all the rules and trot along the beach as you are told, there would be nothing to worry about".
  23. I would love to know how many active ANKC breeders there are. There were 60,000 ANKC pups last year (out of 1 million pups in Australia). You have to believe that some breeders had several more than one litter in the year. Even if you believe that each breeder only had one litter and there were on average of 5 pups per litter, that is only 12000 active breeders. I will guess that there has to be less than 10,000 active breeders in ANKC. Anyone know? (active meaning to me they have bred a litter in the last few years and intend to breed another soon). I was accused in this thread of being disloyal to the purebred dogs and only interested in breeding for money. I was accused of this because I said that reducing the number ANKC breeders would only lead to a bigger market and increased business at puppy farms. Which (stopping puppy farms) we are lead to believe is why we needed to go after every dog breeder in the country with massive regulations. At the risk of being accused again, I think it is very counter productive to 1. Support restrictive and intrusive laws on ANKC breeders that will by their very nature repel many breeders who will leave. and even more counter productive to support 2. Limiting ANKC breeders to one litter every 12-18 months....or they are (and lets call it what it is) stigmatized and labeled as the same class of breeder as puppy farmers. So here is the plan to end puppy farms. Lets scare away as many ANKC breeders with hard new laws and then for those that still remian limit them to one litter every 12-18 months or they will be classed as a puppy farmer. Really? Real puppy farmers must feel they are entering a new golden era of rapid growth and increased profits.
  24. Waldem says .....We are all in big trouble and more importantly so are our dogs and the breeds we are passionate about. .... in regard to farm bred dogs – you are of course in exactly the same boat as every other owner of an entire dog in Australia. The fact that there is no other way to muster vast tracts of Australian high country than with well bred dogs is of no interest to PETA and Co – ....Everyone animal on an income producing property either does a job or provides an income or they are culled – most of us completely understand this realty. You will have no chance of getting an Animal Liberationist .... Just to be clear I do not breed Australian working farm dogs, I however admire them as one Australia's greatest efforts. The working folks often react the same way to the impending assault on their dogs as do the show folks. They feel that they can hind on their properties and that is too difficult to fight this battle when they have so many other problems to worry about. We have to remember that they are being hit from all sides. Many are at risk of loosing their properties, years of drought have demoralized many, labor government push to get them to sell their land or water rights to the government, new land laws now preventing them from using their land, ETS on the planner again, stereotyping as criminal abusers of their own land, not to mention animal rights pressures. We really should be rallying behind our people who put the local grown and quality assured food on our tables. But I digress. I agree completely, there is no group of dog owners or breeders that are safe. They are all targets, supported by constant left leaning media influencing the language and changing how people think about dogs. Pitted against each other, willingly they go as good little Oysters being lead to the big feed on the beach!
  25. Just one more question, when did it become politically correct to breed only one litter every 12-18 months. So if a breeder has 2 litters in one year, then they are now should be labled in the classification of a kennel breeder which is also where the puppy mills belong? Hum.
