For goodness sakes, don't give the people the impression that they actually have a right to have an opinion on this matter? Listen to Aussienot she has the right idea. We don't want them thinking that they can tell the Green/labor government to get out of their lives. They might start to believe that they are capable of deciding if and when to desex their pets with out the greens dictating that to them. Be Green, Go Veg, Vote Green End dog Slavery today!

It's O/T, but as you've already been told, in another thread... yours is an extreme 'definition' of Green. And you've added a pseudo-motto. 'End dog slavery...' The Greens have entered a draft bill in the ACT. As with any draft proposal, it's open for negotiation & lobbying. And redrafting. A good thing. On face value, the basic structure doesn't appear very different from the jointly designed system in the Gold Coast area. Except there's a clearer statement about desexing. As others have said, details need to be teased out. So proactive submissions will count. Mita your goal of getting all of Oz under the laws you got in place in your shire is a wonderful goal. Very strict mandatory spay neuter with all breeders under direct permit and inspection by councils, planning depoartments and the RSPCA is a good start to ending dog slavery! Now add ownership licensing and we got em all under our thumbs! Not many nasty slave dog breeders and nasty slave dog owners will keep breeding and owning dogs under these ever increasingly intrusive laws and when they find out the can go to jail or be fined..well that will toast them! You are so cleaver, we need more like you to fight for the cause! You have my full support and backing on this worth goal!! Be Green, Go Veg, Vote Green. End Dog Slavery and Dog Ownership today!

makes note to self ...... tell political parties to please keep dogs out of their posts ...... .................... and speak out against censorship of any kind Original post..... 'The draft bill was introduced to the Assembly yesterday by the Greens Get it, this is a Greens sponsored bill. Mabye the Greens should leave dogs out of politics if I am not allowed to comment on their bill. Make note to Aussienot...I will respond to post about this legilsation the Greens are introduceing. Unless you are trying to tell me I am not Green enough when it comes to supporting ending dog slavery and dog ownership. Be Green, Go Veg, Vote Green! End dog slavery in ACT today!!

Congratulations to the Greens and the people of ACT. It seems that ACT may be the first state to bring and end to pet ownership!!! Should take no more than 16 years for the last desexed dogs to die!! ACT will then have no more dogs!!! I am so proud of the people of ACT!! I know how hard it is to make this decsion to end pet ownership, but it has to be done. You must cry to know that with in 16 years you will never have a dog again. But it has to be done, pets are not green and it is human exploitation at it's extreem. We must free the dogs from slavery and their cruel human dependent exsistence. Way to go Gereens, bring it on accross the country! Make Austrtalia the first country to end all animal slavery! End pet slavery, end pet ownership now! Be Green, Vote Green, Go Veg! Want a pet, get a stuffed toy!

The next step is to severely limit population of humans. (have you not been listing to ABC, not a day goes by where they do not mention population control). Wild animals are to be saved at all cost and given back all of the earth that is rightfully theirs. Humans should be removed from the rural and small towns and moved to the largest 5-7 cities, live in high density living and only allowed to reach numbers that can be substain with inner city garden plots. Look at the Cuban plan for an example. The areas between the cities should be reverted back to natural bush for the wild animals. Be Green, Vote Green. All water needs to flow in the rivers to the sea, man must stop taking the water to grow food. Support goverment buy out of all water rights and end all water using farming in Australia today! I'm going to take this as "tongue in cheek" - the alternative it to frightening...... I have not seen any tongues in cheeks along the Murray Darling. -

I believe you are correct. It is VEGAN policy. And Vegans are not green ..... I think it depends on the vegan. I know vegans that have cats and dogs (being vegan just means they don't eat the cats and dogs, drink their milk, or wear their skins - they're still allowed to keep them around for company!) Of course, you get some vegans with crazy PETA animal-liberation ideas, but every group of people has its share of nasties or crazies. Think Green, Go Veg!!! Do your part to save the world, vote Green!!! Did you know that adopting a vegetarian diet is more important than switching to a "greener" car in the fight against global warming? Did you know that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse gases than all the cars and trucks in the world combined? Of course you did, so show off your "green" savvy with PETA's "Think Green Go Veg" T-shirt. Get the word out that we all have the power to change the world, one meal at a time. Think green go vegetarian! Order your tee shirt 'Think Green Go Veg' from PETA today!!! http://www.petacatalog.com/products/Think_...hirt-157-0.html Save the planet, by ending pet slavery and domestic animal slavery! Taken from the link above about Betsy the Border Collie was found to be the most intelligent breed of dog by psychology professor Stanley Coren in his book The Intelligence of Dogs.[8] Juliane Kaminski, a cognitive psychologist who tested Betsy, hypothesised that her abilities are the result of the use of the Border Collie breed as working dogs, their high motivation levels and that they historically had to pay close attention to their owners' commands when engaged in herding.[6] Maybe they should spend some time with border collies that work sheep for a living and their owners. One ability they might pick up is the ablity to notice even the slightest difference in sheep (or anything else that takes their attention). For example, an ear flick to the left on one sheep in a flock of 30 with get a reaction from the working dog. This ability see the slightest changes is how they 'seem' to anticipate and thereby prevent stock from moving off in the wrong direction before they actually attempt to do so. Most of this is done and the average human can not even see it happening. It takes an an experienced sheepdog handler to point out the things that the dog is reacting too. This ability when talking about a sheepdog would be said "that dog reads his sheep well" and is something that is bred for. A dog that does not read his sheep well needs a lot more direction from their handler and is therefore more trouble to work for the handler. Also a dog that does not read his sheep well will not be very usefull when working away from the handler, as the dog has to then make his own descions as the handler is too far away to see anything except the more gross movements of the flock. This would result in sheep being brought in a sloppy mannor by the dog that cannot read his sheep well. I am very sure this ability to see tiny differences would help the border collie know the difference between all the different types of objects they had laid out for it to pick from, as well as being about to use the picture to select the object. It would also apply to them being able to hear the different name sounds of each objecty and remember the different sounds to the different objects. Once the dog understood the job (or game in this case) find the object that looks like this (show object or say the name) then over a 150 years of selective breeding for dogs that notice even the slightest differences would kick in and the dog should have the ablity to pick out that object from all the other choices.

Just stumbled on to this below whenlooking for something else. Does anyone know what happen with this request for an inquiry? http://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/Prod/parl...y/LA20100423031 GUNNEDAH WATERWAYS WILDLIFE PARK Page: 22267 Mr PETER DRAPER (Tamworth) [1.17 p.m.]: Some of the photographs I have seen of Gunnedah Waterways Wildlife Park co-owner Nancy Small with the koalas that have returned recently from the RSPCA speak volumes about the obvious love and care between them, and it is clear that the bonds between Nancy and the animals have not been broken despite them being stolen more than two months ago. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. I am extremely proud of the way the Gunnedah community has banded together in support of Nancy and Col Small and the Waterways Wildlife Park. This is not, as I have heard it described, simply an emotional outpouring of support, it is genuine support for people who have dedicated their lives to caring for sick and injured wildlife, often at considerable personal expense, and who have provided Australia's koala capital with an outstanding award-winning attraction enjoyed by visitors from all over the country. The Gunnedah community believes, and with considerable justification, that Nancy and Col are being treated in a very shabby manner and that the actions of the RSPCA and the way it operates with certain media should be the subject of a parliamentary inquiry. The Gunnedah community and supporters of Waterways from across the country are angry that the Government seems to be ignoring their concerns by actively opposing an inquiry. This episode has caused a lot of damage to the good name of the RSPCA in Gunnedah and the wider region. Throughout the whole affair the RSPCA has appeared arrogant and uncommunicative. It appears as though it is answerable to no-one. The fact that it wanted to stage-manage an event for the television cameras rather than deal with any issues of concern through consultation raises suspicions that it is more interested in ratings than its primary role of protecting animals. This issue, which has greatly concerned the Gunnedah community, is worthy of investigation. Gunnedah people have held rallies of support for Waterways, raised many thousands of dollars to underpin the operation, and provided many hours of volunteer help to upgrade the facilities. Yet mystery still surrounds the park's future, with a government report assessing its care standards yet to be published. If this report details steps to make Waterways an even better environment, such recommendations should be carried out transparently with consultation and assistance rather than using the bulldozer approach that has been the norm to date. The fact that the koalas were taken with no prior warning that the RSPCA held any concerns for their welfare, and the reality of the stress that the koalas must have endured being moved and taken to a region where the threat of chlamydia is even greater, has given the Gunnedah community good reason to question the integrity of the RSPCA and its modus operandi. This has been a public relations disaster for the RSPCA. The Government should support calls for an inquiry. The Gunnedah township has a population of just over 8,000, and more than 4,000 people signed a petition to Parliament highlighting the injustice of the actions undertaken by the RSPCA. The petition asks the Parliament to undertake an investigation immediately into the circumstances and actions of the RSPCA, in addition to the other people who were involved in the raid on 3 February. Residents are disappointed with the response received to their petition from the Minister for Primary Industries, Mr Steve Whan. They agree with the Minister's contention that the most important issue is the welfare of the animals. However, they question the information given to the Minister by the RSPCA and reject his assertion that it is not appropriate to conduct a parliamentary investigation of this matter while an administrative review and action in relation to the management and welfare of all the animals at Waterways Wildlife Park are underway. Since it was announced that the koalas would be returned, the Gunnedah community has again rallied to support Nancy, Col and the Waterways Wildlife Park. The rally was organised by Erin McCabe, former Deputy Prime Minister John Anderson chaired the rally, and attendees heard from a number of guest speakers. The well-attended rally passed the following unanimous resolutions: 1. That the rally expresses its strong support and admiration for the Smalls and Waterways Wildlife Park and recognises in particular Nancy Small's lifetime dedication to the welfare of native Australian animals. 2. Calls on the RSPCA NSW to itself initiate an independent review of its procedures, integrity, transparency and animal welfare advocacy. 3. Calls on the NSW Parliament to support a full inquiry into RSPCA NSW focusing in particular on the RSPCA's compliance arrangements and its relationship with Channel 7's Animal Rescue Show. 4. In the event of unsatisfactory outcomes from the aforementioned, that a Federal Government inquiry be conducted, keeping in mind that the RSPCA enjoys DGR status. I urge Minister Whan to respect the wishes of a passionate country community and to expedite an inquiry. I commend Gunnedah residents for their tight-knit community spirit and their belief in the need for truth and justice for all involved at the Waterways Wildlife Park.

Have you got any interest from the Land on doing a story on the the RSPCA petition ? Not that Im aware of You might want to consider following up with them about it.

Well there you go, our organization working in our interests. Was there a vote taken in Victoria by the members and they wanted to support this bill? Can some body go check the use by date of DogVic, I think it is stamped on one of the big shots bums.

I think given some support and education that labor nationals would only be too glad to not support more power to the RSPCA. But you can't expect them to sand up and say no, when no one is saying that is what they want (and they are not reading DOL LOL). Whre is the ANKC making a stand? Where are the breed clubs and resecue in Victoria making a stand, wehre qre all the pet owners? Has any group gone to the Libs/Nats and said we need help is a very bad bill. Over all Lib/Nationals would be far more likely to understand and do something than Labor now run by the Greens. The rest is then up to us, making ourselves heard, not just in Vic but across the country.
-
Is there? I see the dog issues as a microcosm of the whole political debate. More government, directing every part of your life vs. less government leaving as much a possible in the control of the people.
-
How the heck you do expect him to know the difference? How much time has anybody who is not on the far left animal rights/liberation spent educating him about the whole dog culture in this country? All he sees Animal Liberation leading rally's attended by every body and his dog, calling for massive legislation to stop nasty criminal dog breeders. You expect him to know what the difference is between registered breeder vs puppy farms? Besides the RSPCA has made that real easy so anyone can understand, there is no difference. All dog breeders are potential puppy famers and all need to be policed like the criminals they are. You expect him to know any different? Victoria culture, politics and media have swung so far to the left that they see center as far right, and heaven help anyone who is conservative. Reminds me of something that happend about 3 years ago. I watched on TV, some Victorian socialite ladies all dressed up drinking wine at some social event. They had a well know carton artist there speaking. He then drew a picture of Sara Palin a lady who is on the conservative side of politics in the US. He drew her, with her pants pulled down and she was being ***** from behind by a moose. Now bad enough that all these ladies were applauding the degrading of a female by using sex with animals to make the point that they did not like her conservative politics (BTW what ever happen to the women's rights, oh that is right, women only have rights if they are not on the conservative side of politics). But this program was being shown in the middle of the afternoon on TV when kids could have seen it. I wrote to the stations and there response was, it was political humor so was not really degrading to women. Then they explained to me that Sara Palin was a religions radical in USA politics, like that justified the whole thing and I must not have know that. They also said that children would not have understood exactly what the moose was doing to Sara Palin so it was alright to show it on TV. Hopeless, just hopeless.

Just wanted to add, I do not think that the Liberals by nature would support any far left ideals be they about dogs or anything else. They are conservative, want less governement and less restraint of freedoms. So on princple they would not support giving the RSPCA more policing and intrusive powers, they would not support more governement laws to restrict dog ownership, dog breeding or dog rescue. However they have to look at public opinion and in Victroia the call for severe policing of dog owners, breeders and even rescue folks has been pretty constant. I bet more than 2/3 of people at that rally recently had no idea what that rally was really calling for, the message they are giving to all parties of government is 'we want heaps of laws applied to anyone who has anything to do with a dog'. So all parties have to listen to what the public demans and what the supporters of their party demands. If the only message being demanded is end pet ownership rights, put in place massive policing and regulating of dog breeder, dog owners and dog rescue, then that is what they must do. They must represent what the pubic wants. Now if some folks in Victoria were to become vocal for the more conservative traditional values of dog ownership, breeding and small rescue efforts, then the Liberals, Nationals and Country parties are the parties that would naturally gravitate to that side of the issues. The Greens and Labor would naturally gravitate towards total government regualtion and control of anything to do with dogs. So yes vote Liberal, National or Country, but also make your personal beliefs known to the party members so they can act on your behalf. If they do not hear your voice they can not represent your wishes.

Yes the greens and labor want to end the export and import of all live animals to and from Australia. They show same bad things that happen with sheep and cattle and use that to push the animal rights adgenda of a total ban on all live animals including dogs and cats. However dogs travel first class by air under tight regualtions and control, dogs do not suffer. The flow of unrelated dogs (new genetics) is vital to maintain and improve the health and vitality of all dogs around the world. Read any of the latest research on dog breeding and increasing flow of dogs and increasing thereby genetic gene pools is stressed ovver and over again as vital and must be encouraged or even demanded in some cases. Also people move and want to take their pets with them, why should anyone comeing into or leaving Australia be made to leave their pets behind, that is really cruel to both the pet and the human. There is only one section of animal export that can sometimes be a welfare concern and that is live export of sheep and cattle for food to countires that want to slaughter their own meat, such as islamic countries. Better enforcement of the current laws would prevent these bad occurances. However do be aware that the import and export of breeding animals, cattle sheep and so forth, is also vital around the world to keep populations healthy just as it is in dogs. Our cattle and sheep breeding stock go around the world to imporve herds and help to feed the world. These animals are very well cared for and tavel in better comfort then I do when going over seas! Please vote Liberal, National or Country no matter where you live in Australia, they will do the most to save the publics right to own a dog (pets) and save dog (pet) ownership in Australia. Do not vote Green or Labor, they will support and attempt to put into law extreme animal rights beliefs, such as ending the right of dog (pet) ownership in Australia. Please look up the difference between animal rights (Labor Greens) and animal welfare (Liberal, National, Country).

Warmists Hate Not Only Humans, But The Dogs That Love Them

the list of approved pets But if you can't face the prospect of life without an animal companion, there are a few green pets out there. Dump the dog for a smaller critter like a hamster, goldfish or canary, and you'll massively shrink your land toll. An even better choice, Vale says, is an animal you can both stroke and eat. The eco footprint of three hens kept for eggs and meat, for example, is just 0.02 acres a year. -

Ok here is what is all came from and this was back in 2009. Time to Eat the dog http://www.greenmuze.com/reviews/news/1737...e-dog-news.html In a bid to save the planet, two University of Victoria, New Zealand professors are encouraging people to think about the ecological footprints of our animal companions via a provocatively titled new book – Time to Eat the Dog. In their new book, Time to Eat the Dog: The Real Guide to Sustainable Living authors Robert and Brenda Vale, make the case that dog companions have more of an environmental impact than driving a big car. In fact, according to their international headline making findings, feeding a pet dog (roughly the size of a German Shepherd), has twice the environmental impact of driving a 4.6-litre Toyota Land Cruiser 10,000kms (6,213 miles) a year. Throughout the book the authors compare the carbon ‘paw prints’ of various types of popular animal companions to the environmental impact of driving different types of vehicles or using typical household appliances. Their findings are not going to be very popular with pet lovers, but their facts and statistical evidence is hard to ignore. The writers, often described as ‘kill-joys’ (we prefer to think of them as realists), describe the environmental footprint of everything from golf to funerals in a quest to help people understand the true meaning of sustainability. More SHOULD owning a great dane make you as much of an eco-outcast as an SUV driver? Yes it should, say Robert and Brenda Vale, two architects who specialise in sustainable living at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. In their new book, Time to Eat the Dog: The real guide to sustainable living, they compare the ecological footprints of a menagerie of popular pets with those of various other lifestyle choices - and the critters do not fare well. As well as guzzling resources, cats and dogs devastate wildlife populations, spread disease and add to pollution. It is time to take eco-stock of our pets. To measure the ecological paw, claw and fin-prints of the family pet, the Vales analysed the ingredients of common brands of pet food. They calculated, for example, that a medium-sized dog would consume 90 grams of meat ... -

No the green dream in high density inner city living, but they do think a chicken on your balcony would be OK green wise, provided you did not eat it. All the rural lving folk need to move to the city and all their land will be reverted to natural habitat for native animals, no domestic animals allowed and we all have to be vegans. high speed carbon nutral trains from one sity to anotherm all roads removed.
