  1. 'best' is a subjective term if it's not defined.Sorry :D
  2. I would speculate that the motive was to stop the noise from the dog barking. If that is the case it's most probably one of the close neighbors. They should investigate the neighborhood very thoroughly.
  3. wow that is heaps. No wonder no one would want to buy the license. It's about $90 in Blacktown council.
  4. I read that the puppies of the old woman were brown and black. While the puppies thrown were white and black. So i call BS
  5. My dog is 6kgs. and i give him the 4-11kg dog worming tablets. If i were to buy the next size up dog tablets, and divide them in half. Do they still have the same effect as giving one 4-11kg dog tablet? Thanks.
  6. Buried alive with me. No not really. Probably just go to my parents.
  7. What is the thinking behind not allowing a dog to whelp inside a house? Especially if we are talking about toy breeds who have a much harder time dealing with the elements outside.
  8. Hi guys My dog recently developed a habit of peeing in such a way that he manages to pee on his front leg. He probably learnt it from watching my parents dogs raise their legs because we left him with them for a month when my wife and i went on overseas holiday. But he seems not to do it properly. Is there anything i can do to make him stop this. He is a house dog predominantly and I like letting him go on our couch. But now i feel like he is dirty so i have to wash his front legs regularly. Thanks.
  9. Thanks . oh wait it's not for me. Well happy birthday Sasha the dog.
  10. Thank you for the haste reply. You make a good point about first showing the dog, to get to know breeders and what's expected. So is your dog 4 years old and having it's first litter now? Also i read somewhere on this forum that some people do hip tests , and eye sight before breeding. Is that a requirement for all breeds?
  11. Hello guys I am interested learning as much about breeding a dog as possible. What material do you recommend. Books? Websites? I have read information about what is required @ http://www.dogsnsw.org.au/ How does a person who is genuinely interested in doing ethical breeding, acquire a dog that is well suited for the job. If you have only one dog that is a purebreed, how do people organise to have it bred with other pure breeds owned by other registered breeders? Your time to respond is appreciated.
  12. Came home today, he managed to rip his stitches out. Apparently the collar was too small. So we took him to a different vet and they super glued him up, gave some antibiotics and larger collar. I was really impressed with the vet and especially the doctor at Sydney Animal Hospitals - Kellyville The vet's name was Dr Markus Mander and he was really great, recommend the place and doctor to everyone in the area.
  13. We are back from the surgery , and my baba is really quiet and shivering. The vet said it's the result of the anesthetic. He looks fine apart from that.
  14. Right now he acts on his urges by humping his sleeping pillow I agree with the other poster that logically i know it won't be a problem for the dog, but in my heart i feel like i am doing something bad.
  15. do you realise that the 11/6/2010 is today friday, have you got your days mixed up. I can't say that I have ever felt guilty having my male or female dogs desexed. there quality of life is greatly improved by the fact that we don't have hormones rageing and reduced risk of several cancers and other medical conditions. I meant Saturday
  16. I have read many comments on this board about de-sexing, nearly all suggest it should be done unless the dog is used for breeding. But i feel so guilty. The operation is tomorrow on Saturday 11/06/10 but all this week i have been looking at my pup (11 month old) and feeling like i am betraying him by doing this to him. I am sure other people felt the same about doing the operation. Please tell me how you re-assured your selves that what you are doing is not bad, and to not feel guilty. And how quickly did your dog bounce back?
  17. my wife and our dog Cookie after a bath
  18. Tell her about the scene were Jesus goes Bruce-lee on all the money-changers because they are selling stuff in gods house. Then throw in a warning of fire and brimstone to make it stick in her mind.
  19. Please tell us if any updates occur. I got angry reading your post.
  20. I found my pup with a mushroom in his mouth today. Likely i was quick enough for him not to eat it. Perhaps that set it off. What's the best way to get rid of these mushrooms.
  21. Just an update. It's been over a week now, and he hasn't had any more seizures. Which is good. However i haven't been putting him outside in the day time as i still feel a bit scared. I discovered that he was near a pond that has really green algae, so he might have drank from that. I also found a frog jumping around in the backyard. Maybe he ate a frog or something? I still think it was something he ingested. I will try to block off the pond and get rid of the frogs and will let him out more often.
  22. Yes the vet discussed the possibility of liver problems. At this point i am going to monitor him to see how he is going, check the backyard for any possible causes and see how it goes. If he does have another episode, then i will definitely take him to the vet for blood tests etc.
  23. Yes he has been wormed regularly. I am leaning towards toxins myself. The woman we bought it off says it's a x Shih Tzu, but i saw the mother and she doesn't look like a Shih Tzu. But i only had one look.
  24. He was given frontline about 3 weeks ago. I will feel him today to see if any ticks, but i have been told by another vet that my area (Rooty Hills, Sydney) is a low area for ticks.
