What a gorgeous gal! Happy Birthday Ricky
-
Ours as well. Christina yours is fine, in the cat varieties it is only the Iams Veterinary Lines. We actually contacted any customer that had bought any of the recalled products to let them know it has been recalled.

Any updates?

I ordered some dog bowls from an online american store earlier in the year and when the parcel arrived I also had a little note to say 'inspected by quarantine' once I opened the box I figured out why.. the supplier had put in a little box of peanut butter & chicken cookies as a gift! Those poor dogs

Just thought to share for those interested.. I emailed the Australian distributor of Artemis in regards to ethoxyquin and received this response.. Thank you for your email. Artemis have never added Ethoxyquin to their foods, it has always been preserved naturally. They used to use fish meal that had been preserved with Ethoxyquin which is a requirement of the US coast guard but after the cooking it would have been all burned off anyway. Now they only use fish meal which has been preserved naturally(more expensive but guarantees not even a miniscule amount remains)so you can be assured there is NO ethoxyquin in the food at all.

Happy Birthday Saxon!!

Well they obviously are not looking that hard, I work at a pet store in the same suburb & no one has come in asking about missing puppies.. hmm well since this suburb is notorious for being home to crackheads & loads of shady characters I do not have high hopes for those poor dogs

Has Anyone Seen The New Nappy Ad With The Bulldog?
jata replied to Kirty's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes A friend of mine was involved in training the BB for the ad so I have been hearing all about it and finally got to see it a couple days ago.. very cute! -
Yes me too. having worked in these places as a vet nurse it really gets to me & I feel the emotional scars and memories everytime one of these ads come on, it really hits a raw nerve. I agree that they should be more honest with the ratio. Just one of the welfare societies I worked at we took in 18000 cats a year, only 4000 out of that 18000 were rehomed.

Balloons Winnie will run laps around them or stand and look at them but soon as it moves she bolts, she runs like there is no tomorrow ;)
-
Yep we walk Winnie in the rain, she absolutely loves it! She particularly loves running in the wet grass, she gets so excited!
-
Awwwww Winnie! Oi! what are you still doing awake, don't you have work tomorrow?
-
Yes we have a Homer, Winnie homers whenever the Doritos come out.. Hubby rattles the bag and Winnie starts 'homering' as we like to call it
-
Morning Smoko.. Testing out the merchandise.. Team work at its best..

Why would BB be an expensive breed to care for and maintain? Crikey, I would hope that after having paid such a stiff price for a dog you should not have to continue walking around with your hand on your wallet all of the time and besides which, isn't that the whole idea of health testing? Bulldogs are sensitive to heat and to cold, so you can't just buy one and keep it outside in the garden when you're out as compared to other breeds. In summer I would think you'd have to keep the air-condition running for a very long time. I think the breeder I talked to mentioned that as soon as it gets hotter than 26 degrees, you need A/C on ASAP. They're also prone to hyperthermia and over-heating which could lead to death if not properly monitored. It gets expensive to have the air-conditioning or heater running a lot, and in Melbourne 40 degree heat, oh boy! I have no problems whatsoever with Winnie, she did not so much as pant last summer on the 35+ days, she has had no problems at all with cold weather, she goes for a 30 min walk every day of the week with no problems, she has no eye problems, no breathing problems etc etc .. we took her on a 2.5km walk at Ruffey Park a couple weeks ago and to top it off she is quite the gardner She has been no different to any other family dog I have owned in the last 30 years except she drools when hubby eats Doritos

Oh yea totally know about the potential for health issues etc. We didn't go to far into it though, I don't even know what they chuck in the mix with the BB. Yea, we are def happy to get a purebred one day. Especially my OH, he has wanted one for as long as we have been together (12 years) and we have done lots of research etc. I love them too but not quite as much as the OH LOL. He is even very specific on the look he wants LOL. It has to be red and white (I am not sure if the colour is called red) with the majority of the face and head being white. We might need to start looking now lOl Going by the "vetting owners" thread, I am a little worried that when it comes time to find a breeder and our new puppy that we won't get past the first stage LOL Keep in mind you will find it almost impossible to find one with such specifics. Breeders do not tend to care for you choice of colour, they pick the pup out for you based on which one is going to be most suited to your lifestyle/personality, they have the pups best interest at heart, not your preference for colour. When I went looking for my pup I said I did not care about colour, I will love, adore her & be the happiest person in the world just to have her in my life Of course it just so happened that she turned out to be gorgeous & the pick of the litter in me eyes
