  1. Hi Jed, although we have never met and possibly never even spoke on here. I have been a silent lurker on this thread since that tragic day. I just wanted to say that words cannot express my sympathy for you and the loss and pain you have experienced. I checked back everyday to see how you were doing and I was hoping and praying for the best. It is so great to see you here, I am glad that you are healing and I wish you all the best out of this terrible situation. You seem like an incredibly brave and strong woman and I hope things start to look up from here on in. Best wishes for the future and your babies
  2. OMG I was so hoping this story would have a happy ending I was thinking about Goldie yesterday, poor baby I hoping she didnt suffer too much RIP Run free beautiful I Feel also for Goldies new parents. Didnt even get a chance to show her the love she deserved.
  3. My dad is exactly like this. He will not desex his dog, even though his Kelpie x just "sired" a litter because my dad lets him wander and he got to a kelpie bitch down the road I had a go at him and I said whats happening with the puppies and hes all "oh i dont know what shes doing with them" he doesn't claim any responsibility to anything at all Arrrgggghh
  4. this is so wrong, I remember not so long ago i saw one when i was at the zoo and thought how the hell did that get there, i didnt even know we had squirrels here i can see the appeal too, i think they are freakin gorgeous but i would never own one.
  5. So glad they are ok, they are just too cute for words...
  6. Some people I know through my partner are rehoming there dogs because they are moving and the house has a pool and not much backyard - to me it seems like they are choosing a pool over there dogs My partner says to me "why am I even friends with these people" The ladys partner didnt like there cat anymore so he dumped it out bush. It came home 2 weeks later starving. They had another dog and he didnt want it anymore so he took it out bush and shot it When our cat got hit by a car and we decided to keep him inside from now on (yes we were stupid having him outside, puts flame suit on) We were discussing making him a cat run and my MILs boyfriend said "Why dont you just put an ad in the paper and give him away, will save all this drama) He was referring to all the vet bills we paid to get him better and then the cost of the cat run etc. I got soooo angry, I would rather pay everything I had and go without whatever it took to save my baby. Other people critised us for keeping him indoors, saying that it is cruel and mean and he should be allowed out. Even if it means risking him getting hit by a car again I DONT F**KING THINK SO. I know he misses the outdoors but isn't it better for him to be inside where he is safe and not killing wildlife etc?? Sorry that was a bit OT.
  7. No sadly I haven't heard anything  I have favortied the news article and keep checking back everyday and still nothing ;)
  8. I dont think there is facebook page, I do not know the owner personally, I was just passing around the info in the hopes someone has seen the poor baby. I feel so sorry for the poor owners and dog. fingers crossed they find Goldie soon
  9. http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-au...u-1225868711216 A RESCUED pet on its way to a new loving home has gone missing after airline staff left a gate open at the Perth domestic terminal. The two-year-old staffy cross, called Goldie, arrived in Perth at 8pm Monday from a rescue shelter in Sydney. Traumatised by the flight, Goldie bolted into nearby bushland surrounding Boud St as soon as Australian Air Express staff opened her cage to hand her over to new owners Claire Pridmore and Troy Oldfield. Since Monday, a devastated Ms Pridmore, who paid $570 to rescue and transport the dog, has spent from dusk till dawn searching for Goldie in bushland as far east as Kalamunda. “The staff opened the cage and there are gates there that should have been shut, but they hadn’t shut them,” Ms Pridmore said. “When they opened the cage, we went to put the lead on her but she was so scared she flew out and just ran off.” Ms Pridmore rang the supervisor on duty at the time and was told it was her own fault for not shutting the gates. “I’ve been out there every night and every morning,” Ms Pridmore said. “I was sitting out there this morning at dawn in the bush with food all around me, hoping that she would come out,” Ms Pridmore said. A dog matching Goldies’ description has been sighted in Kalamunda this afternoon. Ms Pridmore has travelled to a park in the area in hope of finding her new beloved pet. Ms Pridmore said Australian Air Express state manager Wayne Phillips has apologised for the incident and assured her policy had now been changed for pet imports. Staff are also helping with the search. Mr Phillips was not available for comment. Goldie is micro chipped and wearing a red collar with a Sydney phone number on it. If you see Goldie please contact the Sydney number or RSPCA on 08 9209 9300. Please keep your eyes open people, this is so sad. Please check out the website to see a pick of Goldie
  10. I haven't posted anything until now as I am at loss for what to say. I just want to offer my sympathy for the furbabies that Jed lost. RIP beautiful ones. I have never met Jed or anything, but I just wanted to say that you have an amazing amount of support behind you and I am so sorry for the loss that you have experienced. To lose your house is one thing, then your beloved animals and to be hurt yourself is a pain I cannot begin to imagine. You are an amazingly brave woman doing what you did and I wish you all the best. xxoo Take care and I look forward to reading updates on how you are doing. Sending love and healing vibes.
  11. I haven't watched the film yet, I did watch the trailer and was very horrified at what i saw, sadly it doesn't surprise me. I have seen a few videos of similar sicking stuff in my life, I noticed they have that fur farm(if thats what you call it - more like torture house) video, I have seen that before and ohh I just cannot express the horror, I just want to grab those people and shake the life out of them. Or something like that, whatever it took to make them stop. How could you call yourself a human if you could do something like that to a living thing and not break down and cry and scream. They do it like its nothing, like the life they are holding in there hands and then take it away like doesn't matter. In some cultures I know that people are raised like that so they have never known any different but how could you not feel something looking into the eyes of an animal that is in pain and is suffering - HOW...could you just rip off its fur and listen to it scream and not hate yourself every single day. I cant understand how people can do this and still look at themselves in the mirror?
  12. Oh my god, That is so sad, I had to turn it off after the first dog. I hate the fact that this happens everyday. I wish I had not seen that but I agree people should be first to watch that before letting there dog breed just because they can't be bothered getting it sterilized.
  13. Oh yay, I hope you get to keep him!!!!
  14. Hi I have a 2 moggys and 2 chi x JRTs. One of the cats hates all the other animals and she keeps her distance from all of them but she was around first. Our other cat Pyro and the 2 dogs on the other hand LOVE each other, our cat will talk to them when he wants to play and they will snuggle up together. The dogs were about 6 when we got Pyro and they loved him from day 1. Theres a video of Tug and Pyro playing - Hope you enjoy :D
  15. My thoughts exactly - this kind of thing makes me so angry, those poor babies I hope they are safely in rainbow bridge now waiting for there family. as for the people who did this, I hope karma finds them and makes them hurt real bad for there actions. But hopefully some animal lover finds them first...of course I do not agree with criminal activity but what are you really supposed to do with people like that, the don't deserve the oxygen they breath. Big huge hugs to this family, we are all behind you
  16. Thanks for all your help guys :D I have so much to think about, I have been researching greyhounds and have found alot of things about them that I no idea, for one that they are lazy I just figured because they are a race dog they would be high energy but quite the opposite. We do have two chi x JRTs but we wont be getting another dog until they are not around anymore, well at least one anyway, OH says two dogs is enough
  17. I have been looking at greyhounds they have very cute eyes and Pointers are also cute. It will be a long time until I can get a dog anyway, I have just been looking at all my options.
  18. Ok lets spin this around a little, out of all the dog breeds, large and small no matter what they are......which is the best companion dog?? and not crazy high energy???
  19. So much to read and so much to consider, yeah that list is based on looks, and then ive done research on each breed to see what kind of temperament they have etc etc. Bloat does worry me, but provided I knew what to look for It would be ok, Im not saying that it wont happen but If it did I'd hope that I would know and deal with it accordingly (straight to the vet.) If I was going to get a large breed it would be either a mastiff or a dane. Provided that I feel I could handle a mastiff temperament as opposed to a dane, Im not 100% sure but I think mastiff may be little harder to train and be more stubborn than a dane. From what I have read anyway. I like the idea of talking to breeders, Im just very nervous because this would be my first time talking to them etc etc. Thankyou for all the advice I would like to get a puppy, I know they would be a handful, but they do eventually settle down as they mature, I would just like to avoid a dog that is high energy forever. My partner is happy with whatever I choose, as this will be our dog but mine, if you know what I mean and then down the track my partner will be getting there breed of choice. I can put $100 on the fact it will be a chi Training is something I am going to put so much effort into and all the time that is necessary. I didnt know alot about training when I had my first dog and well we all know how that goes, they will do what they please, I realize that any dog should at least have basic training, but If I get a large dog It is even more so important that the dog knows whos boss and is very well trained. I cringe at the thought of having a huge dog that is just out of control, It would be nightmare for me and the dog. I would like a dog as a companion, im not interested in showing or anything like that, The dog would go with me everywhere possible A question I do have to people with large dogs, how do you secure a dog in a car? I imagine a dane would take up the entire back seat of a sedan once grown Might have to get a different car too...
  20. The more I think about it a dane is perfect. I live in a 4x2 in the suburbs with a decent size backyard. theres lots of great places to walk etc. I would do whatever was needed in regards to a danes exercise requirements, or whatever was needed for the dog. I know they are expensive but with a full time job and pet insurance im hoping it would be do-able. Of course I don't want to get to out of my league with money either. It still is a long time away and my partner doesn't want any more dogs while we have 2 already and 2 cats and one of the cats doesn't like the dogs or the other cat and she is 12 in December and my partner wants her to spend the rest of her days in as much peace and quiet as possible. which is completely understandable. of course nothing is set in stone and I have changed my mind when it has come to trying to come to a decision about what breed for me. I always end up back at a dane. Thankyou so much for all the advice and support. Its very important for me to find the right breed for me because above anything else a dogs happiness is more important than my own. Which is why my dad has my Kelpie X, he would not be suited to this type of yard and my dad is on a pension and he spends all day and night with him. It worked out perfect for all involved.
  21. I like big dogs because they are .....I really do not know, I just prefer the bigger dogs, bigger the better, I do feel safe with a big dog, I dont want a dog to be aggressive but I like the fact there bark would deter people from wrong doing like break in etc. I would love a great dane they are soooo beautiful, yeah it scares me about bloat though, some people say oh you need alot of room, but I also hear that you need to be careful about how much exercise they get due to leg problems etc
  22. Wow so many posts, I can't keep up Thank you so much for all the advice. I would find Obedience trials interesting I think. Maybe I should find a local club and have look see at it, I could use the exercise... Yeah I wouldn't pass up a Boston in heartbeat if one was dropped on my door, but I do like bigger dogs though, but there is something about a boston. I read the Breeds 101 alot and look at the "would a first time owner cope" bit and when it says no, I go oh crap next... So much to think about....ohh I love dogs, my dog is going to be the most spoiled baby ever....while still keeping in mind that it is a dog
  23. Im not really into going to a dog park, there is too many idiots around here, I would prefer home play inside and out and walking on lead around my suburb. I definitely want a dog that isnt high energy, my kelpie cross was mad energetic and wont even stop for a pat most days and It crazy, my dad brought him over today and he didnt even let me pat him, he was too busy playing with a little plastic broom handle he found and the a bit off a palm tree. Leonberger....haven't really looked into them, don't even know much about them. Will look into that Wow Zero has some hair but yeah it happens...
  24. I will some research on the greyhound and a golden retriever, yeah the hair isnt an issue, I will get a furminator and a new vacuum cleaner hehehe I love male dogs as opposed to females, I dont know why, I just feel I bond with them better, I would actually prefer to go through a rescue, I would love to give a shelter/pound dog/pup a home, I look at pet rescue almost every day I have looked at pugs as a possible breed but would prefer something bigger I think when working full time, I wouldnt have the time for dog sports or anything, Ill have my hands full with walking and obedience class etc etc
