its usually on in June but got rained out. it was our first time.
-
and hopefully some pics. i've been using photo bucket so flickr is a little foreign. It was Oberons Birthday also. the big 2 yr old.
-
We had our annual Paws of Thunder today. Its a sprint race (straight line). Was a great day and all the dogs had a great time. I didn't enter Oberon as he would likely jump the fence and go for a wander but another Borzoi was there racing. So many dogs and mostly purebreds. Some ute jumping too.I'll try to post this slideshow i made. ok have resorted to youtube.

sending positive thoughts for a good result.
-
a borzoi almost fits this. Despite how they look, their coat care is quite minimal. once a week brush happening at the moment and the dirt falls straight off.
-
they should go ahead and ban that type of man to start with. would solve a lot of issues.
-
our one on the sunny coast sells lots of puppies.
-
its supposed to be a hygiene issue. the crackdown started about a year ago on the sunny coast. Makes no sense about hygiene since plenty of birds hang out in outside eating areas and they cause a much higher risk.

Another Help Pick The Breed Thread.

i agree it does depend on what someone wants in a dog. i'd say that many hounds would be fine for the first time dog owner, especially greys, but some hound breeds are generally not recommended including saluki's and borzoi. its not their recall and training issues, its their more independant nature. Of course this varies amongst individuals but given the opportunity they may try to rule the pack(house) and need management. Once thats sorted out they can seem just like other hounds. laid back, easy to live with lounge lizards, but thats after. Its late, i'm probably not wording it right. -

not sure i'd suggest a saluki to a first time dog owner. this is from what others have said on this site. -
“is It Time To Introduce A Spitz Group In Australia?”.
pixie_meg replied to Bjelkier's topic in General Dog Discussion
i'm still kinda new to the show ring but i also thing a reshuffling would be good. don't know enough about the spitz's though. there are some breeds in the hound group that some say shouldn't be there and i find the extremes of type very difficult mainly between the scent and sighthounds. i have voted in the poll yet, will have to see the options again. -
you're right, they've changed their policies. used to be 100%.
-
unless they''ve changed, they covered 100% with mine minus the excess. We took out cover last October and had an accident in January. We got all back minus the excess. and very quickly. They kept me updated on the progress. It cost about $400 per year for accident and illness cover.
-
we worked ours out recently to be about $2000 per year. so about $166 per month. thats pet insurance, other vet expenses, food. plus some other incidentals
-
they don't come in those colours . I too would say lagotto, typical colouring for them i know they don't come in brown but they do come in "Colour: All pepper and salt colours in even proportions, or pure black, or black and silver. That is, solid black with silver markings on eyebrow, muzzle, chest and brisket and on the forelegs below the point of elbow, on inside of hindlegs below the stifle joint, on vent and under tail. " and clearly the orange light can alter what the colour looks like ;)

looks like a shaggy schnauzer to me.
-
so you want your dog to put on weight? If thats the case look for the higher fat lower protein. once again its what i was told. Oberon is on a RC German shepherd as that combo seemed to match his needs. he needed some more weight on him.
-
i was told that if you don't want to increase the energy of your dog then don't go for high protein.
-
i agree its a sad story but if she wants to bring him to Australia from Britain she should pay the money herself, otherwise get the dog adopted to a family in Britain. $11000 could help so many other dogs in Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world. Getting it to Australia is no longer about the dog but about the owners.
-
finally i can replace my compost bin metal crate for shows. Oberon killed his soft crate as a pup and uses it as a kennel in the shed now so this is great.
-
Thanks Tilly, will consider them. just a bit too far for us, but probably worth it.
-
Anyone know of a dog acupuncturist on the Sunny Coast. will go to one in Brisbane if they're highly regarded but would prefer someone up here. TIA.
-
yep everything is fantastic now. i remember back to puppyhood fondly and then have to remind myself how difficult he was. And yes he made me cry. little shit. He's turned into the most wonderful dog though. super cuddly and playful. he's now almost 2 yrs old and he's exactly what i wanted in a dog. well maybe a bit of recall would be nice.
