  1. Mine wouldn't toilet in public till he was about 5 months. I thought he'd never do it and then one day he just started to. He even went 6 hrs without toiletting once.
  2. i don't know if they allow dogs but heres 2 near the show grounds. Oxley Pines Caravan Park 07 33754465 Boundary Road DURACK QLD, 4077 Durack Gardens Caravan Park 07 33727300 758 Blunder Road DURACK QLD, 4077 I'd invite you to my place but we're 2 hours away and not sure whether our 4 ft fences would suffice.
  3. My thoughts are with you Jed. I can not imagine how you are feeling but wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully the surviving animals have not had to stress too much. poor things.
  4. I'm sure we all have a wish list of the breeds you'd like to own over time. What is your list at the moment? In no specific order here is mine: chinese crested - powderpuff Brittany Pointer Irish setter Afghan Standard Poodle Giant Schnauzer Samoyed Finnish Lapphund Tibetan Mastiff eta: i left of Borzoi as i already own this one. love my big boy.
  5. Woohooo ! ....now if we could only get QLD to move out of the dark ages..... heres hoping. I know someone who is exploring the legal avenues to have this done.
  6. The most scary thing was this comment really: "The staff genuinely believed that Nudge was an ordinary pet dog which had been desexed to become a gay dog," So watch out any woman or man who has their ovaries or testicles removed(no matter the reason), I guess you'll then have to be gay.
  7. done and done. Thanks for the advice. It helps that i have a non digging rarely barking dog.
  8. Theres a great house just put up for rent that i know used to have dogs in the yard, so i'm hopeful. The problem is not many fenced yards come up for rent up here so i want to jump on this one. will check out that link.
  9. So I am pretty sure we are about to get notice to move out so i need to get my pet reference in gear. My real estate agent is going to write a pet reference, not that i know what that means really. So I'm doing a word doc and so far it has a section for the borzoi temperament and comments made by neighbours(ie. no barking). Also put in some pics of him. Just wondering what i'm missing. I was going to put in a general description like rarely barks, doesn't dig, gentle etc. any help appreciated.
  10. How old is Oberon now PM.. I'd be very careful about doing this with a pup. x2. They do have puppy runs though. Basically 50 to 70m at the end of the run (straight) to give them the feel of chasing the lure. There are also age requirements before they can do full runs. I just can't remember what they are. He's now 7 months. I think he'd find 50m to be too short to be honest. We might go to the next one.
  11. Sending Lottie some healing vibes. poor thing.
  12. Sounds like great idea. when are you in Brisbane next?
  13. i think he was about to yawn, not sure though. its hilarious though. A closer look.
  14. thanks for looking. Its bizarre looking back at his baby pictures. I wonder when he'll stop growing.
  15. Beth86's update of Lottie has got me thinking of doing my own update for Oberon. He is now 7 months old and such a wonderful big boy. A real social butterfly with humans and dogs. He's 73cm at the shoulder (and still growing) and about 30kg. I think he's amazing. Heres a pup pic at 6 weeks, 10 weeks 10 weeks 4 months and now: big fluffy bum
  16. Just about to put up an update. He has absolutely no problem with other dogs now. He's quite the social butterfly.
  17. Oh wow she is pretty. And grown up so much since i saw her.
  18. thanks everyone! His eyes are looking a lot better now so we wont be going to the vet today. I think it was like when we humans get conjunctivitis. it always looks a lot worse in the morning and then clears up
  19. i really am hoping it doesn't need a vet visit. I flushed it and it seems a bit better already. It is equally bad in both eyes. Would it be safe to leave it a day to see how it goes do you think or really go the vet visit. I doubt its a scratch since its both eyes. He's running around fine outside.
  20. Yesterday Oberon got out of his run which is not a big deal as the outer yard is fenced but i have no idea what may have irritated his eye. We got home and it was a little red in the white area and a bit gunky. Its worse this morning. Its weeping a fair bit. So I'll be making an appointment at the vets but in the meantime is there anything i can do to sooth it? Do dogs get conjunctivitis like humans because its kind of like that. definitely in both eyes.
  21. What I'm about to say, comes 2nd hand....so don't take it for gospel. Young couple I know who own a young lab, love to go, with him, to cafes in the Milton, Paddington area. They told me that the cafe owners had had to change things in view of the law. They said there's a distance set down....where the dog has to be, from anyone eating. So one cafe has put up a rail where people can tie up their dogs, at this distance. It means the dogs can no longer sit at people's feet & a table (inside or outside). that is what my local cafe is suggesting but i don't like it.
  22. http://www.qt.com.au/story/2010/03/25/is-o...lated-to-death/ My favourite local cafe has just told me they've had to ban dogs from their cafe as they're afraid of the fines. Oberon loves going and I love sitting with him at brekky. this is ridiculous. I think cafes are an important part of their socialisation. great for teaching dogs manners. Where can i see this specific legislation?
  23. I think you're right. We're on the rural Sunny Coast and most dogs are staffy crosses. We do have a fair few border collies too but not much else.
  24. Perhaps an Irish Red and White Setter? I don't know much about them though, not too sure about height. If an red and white is similar in face shape to the regular red then i'd say not. It was also brown, not red. hmm, off to look at pics. oh and Huski, i'll be sure to let you know when i visit next.
  25. Oh and completely forgot that on my way back to the car i met a guy walking his Newfoundland. A very impressive dog and then saw a hungarian viszla join him.
