When Oberon hears the shower start running he first inspects who is having a shower. If he finds its me having the shower then he looks for my dirty clothing, finds my bra and runs off with it. He does it very sneakily too..

Craig Murray Dog Training
pixie_meg replied to Grace1979's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
agree, haven't used Craig but have had a behaviour training session with one of his staff. Really helped us. one session and it was amazing the impact it had. I'd do obedience training with them if i lived closer. -
thanks again.

Thanks Diva, appreciate it. When it comes to meat Oberon can be a super guts. So far today at a guess he ate: 200g of beef liver(so glad he liked it without having to mix it in) and about 500g of the following mixed up: minced chicken frames and beef heart and tongue chunks 1/2 green apple 1/2 carrot garlic flaxseed oil some oats 1 egg and shell is 100g of liver or offal right each day. I gave him 200g today because he didn't have any yesterday. I see a lot of people are being very careful about proportions and getting it 'right'. What happens if your proportions aren't right? what can i expect to see over the next week for example. I expect he'll want the same amount for dinner but thats almost double the 2%. He does run a lot at the dog park so maybe he needs it.

Hi all, I'm seriously considering making the switch to BARF. I'm a little confused about quantities however. I need to go weigh Oberon but I suspect he weighs about 35kg. I've read a couple of different percentages to feed. So is it right to think i should feed him 2% of his body weight. He is 10 months old and is naturally very lean. he usually eats more dry food than the packet recommends.

To Puppy Class Or Not To Puppy Class?
pixie_meg replied to RealityBites's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Personally i'm not convinced of the puppy school thing. But then again i had a bad puppy school experience. I had a lot more success regularly exposing my pup to calm adult dogs. I found my puppy school was far too quick to label dogs as good or bad and had preference for the owners of little dogs, even ignoring when little dogs were doing inappropriate things. I'm sure some puppy schools can be beneficial but I personally prefer socialising with older dogs. -
Did you notice the two dogs in harness are in perfect step. i reckon borzoi'd be great at dressage, they can do all the moves, i doubt they could be trained to do it on commend however.

Which one do you want? I'll take #2 noooo!!! thats my choice, i've been on your blog. I have been stalking the pointer thread but also the poodle thread. Alas reality has hit us and while we thought we were finally going to be out of the rentals and in out own home in early January, it looks like it'll now be over 18 months away. I'm bummed. puppies in rentals scare me. still dealing with my boy and the damage he does on occassion. so i'll add that i need my own home. Are you all crazy!!??? Number 1!!! number 1 is beautiful but I know Ashanali would love a show home for her, and i love that sooky look in number 2.

Which one do you want? ooh where are you in brisbane? I am down that way tomorrow. Any chance of puppy cuddles. I'll have Oberon in tow.

Although i know I can instantly get a poodle says OH if it is an adult that loves Oberon and has great obedience skills already. hahaha. conditions, conditions. Personally I'd hope the same goes for a pointer but i'm not sure.
-
thats the pic i showed OH last night. I love black pointers, liver are good too. I told OH that I would love 4 dogs all at once(jokingly) and while he said he'd never stop me those words are pure manipulation. Since i know its not the right time and because I already feel spoilt by my first dog. he knows it too, bugger.

that would be nice, one that mops up paw prints would be good too.

A pointer, a standard poodle and a finnish lapphund puppy. Its a need i tell you. feel free to add your need.

I think its more than just the prey drive issue, i think its also a matter of how they think. I don't think pleasing their owners is high on many sighthounds minds. My Borzoi is only 10 months old so i'm not sure what he'll be like as an adult but my struggle with recall is 2 things. Firstly its the way he seems to think. that independent thought he has where he loses focus because there are so many things happening around the place that he has trouble focusing on me. 2ndly its when he cant be bothered as he doesn't deem it to be worth it. but i guess this is probably beginner training issues and its still early days. figuring out how to get him motivated to recall is hard especially when he really likes playing with other dogs. From what i've seen there is a really big difference in responsiveness in the different breeds.

I got Oberons bed at Petstock. It was about $110 and is super luxurious. Made of super soft velour leopard print and black and perfect for curling up in. A ggod size for him and he's a big long boy. I cant find a pic of it but its a circle with soft high edges so he doesn't fall out and is contained. They had a fair few options at petstock.

Just have to say i love your avatar. my number 1 is socialising. Its defintely helped my boy and made him such a pleasure to be around for kids, adults, other dogs etc. my first number 2 was getting a good pack leader thing going( he was a bit of a dominant pup). We've got it worked out now so effectively that if i walk near him when he's eating something tasty he will stop and move away from his food for me. now on to our new number 2. my new number 2 would be recall. We're back to working on this. I have no chance in hell of recall at the dog as his key motivation is other dogs. He is improving however so we'll keep working at it. he is only 10months old so still a pup.

we feed Artemis large breed puppy here. If i remember correctly it had less grains in its ingredients than most premiums kibble brands.
-
That poodle is always impeccably groomed because the owner is a very good professional groomer. If I ever get my poodle I know who will be grooming it at least until I figure out how to do it myself.

Shouldn't the relevant authorities be informend. ie. the police. She's commiting a crime.

I'm terribly biased but i think he's turning into quite a handsome boy. big too. he's still growing and just reached 30 inches. you can tell i'm a proud mumma.
