  1. Wow, I read the beginnings of this thread a week or so back, such a shame he is still eluding capture. Just a random thought; perhaps last resort or something.. has anyone considered using a tranquiliser or something similar? Sorry, apart from the initial pages I have not read the whole thread so have no idea if this has been mentioned or not yet or if it is even feasable. Just thought I would give it a mention.
  2. Poor little darlings screaming as she picked them up and hurled them.
  3. aand still needed - desperately. Please post or PM if you may be able to help at all. Thanks guys...
  4. So, I am currently in the process of doing some shoots for my latest photography assignment. All4gsd was kind enough to come to the studio and let me photograph her gorgeous boy, Scout. And here's the shot I used as the main image for my assigment (magazine spread), heavily edited, obviously. ------------------------------------------- Next up, I had the privelege of visiting my mentor and her dogs. Enjoy! Still looking for a junior handler and their dog in the Bendigo area to pose for me for the front cover of the magazine, whom I will be offering a print of their favourite photo from their shoot... so if you like what you see here, PM me.
  5. See original thread here for background info: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=202490 Basically, I am still searching for a Junior handler between 13-17 years to pose with their dog. I did have someone, but unfortunately they weren't able to make it this weekend. The assignment is due Monday, so if I can't find a willing participant I will have to try and ask for an extension.. As stated in original thread, all I need is a boy or girl junior handler, aged between 13-17 years (more or less) to pose in a relaxed shot with their dog sitting next to them. I was hoping to take the shot in Rosalind Park. If you think you and your child can help, please let me know. I will provide a print of your favourite shot of the day. Thanks in advance!
  6. Thanking all4gsd very kindly for the lend of her beautiful boy Scout for the photo shoot! I'll upload some shots when I can.
  7. Hey thanks for the replies! Pm'd, Flaves. Fbc, that sounds great! Would your daughter feel comfortable being photographed? All dog breeds are fine so Bostons and Staffords sound super.
  8. Hey guys! I've got my next uni assignment in photography, and that is to create a magazine cover and two page spread complete with design and photographs. The magazine is to be of whatever it is we like, and I've decided to make it a Junior handlers magazine, centred on 'Dog show youth culture'. My idea is for it to sort of be the Dolly or Girlfriend equivalent for showing enthusiasts, and am aiming it at a 13-17 year old audience. Thing is, I'm going to be needing some models and their canine friends to feature in my assignment, so I am once again calling upon DOL! Who I am looking for: Cover girl or boy junior handler (between 13-17 years old) to be on the 'front cover' with their dog (any breed). A show dog (separate to the one above) of any breed to pose with a model friend of mine. They will make up the two page spread inside. A chair and refreshments will be provided for the endearing parents and/or owners while the shoot is in progress. For the first models (child and dog) I would like to be at an outside location such as a park of some sort. I would be more than happy to sort out an appropriate place to meet wherever is the most convenient. I am happy to travel up to an hour or so from home (I live in Bendigo). For the second model, I will need them to be brought, if possible, to the studios I use at my University, which is in Flora Hill in Bendigo. As a thankyou for the models I will provide them with a signed print of their favourite photo from the shoot. If anybody is at all interested, please let me know. Have just been informed the assignment is due in two weeks so I need to get a wriggle on! Examples of my photography:
  9. He was on the 7 PM project tonight and I muted his section; I can't stand him. And what's with this 15 month old pregnant mongrel he's dealing with next week or something? Not that her pregnancy is his fault but knowing him he'll probably advocate it.
  10. Like someone else mentioned, rather than concentrating on a particular breed it may be a good idea to go to a rescue and have a look at dogs there?
  11. me too All the ones I've met have been similar. I have decided that at at least one point in my life, I must adopt a Grey.
  12. Thanks! I know Candice, I would have loved to meet you personally! Ah well. Next time you visit Vic, yes? Thankyou, I may do that.
  13. It has been soooo long since I've been to a show I thought I need to get off my butt and start again! Is anybody doing Shep on Sun 11th July, and if so, do you know the details? Ie. Venue; when judging starts? :D
  14. I think regardless of how fast a dog attack can be, if the parents had been in there with the child, they may have been able to intervene in time to stop the dogs actually killing the baby.
  15. I am so sorry to hear that furballs. I lost my BC at the tender age of 23 months and it was utterly heartbreaking, particularly as we had no idea what was wrong until it was too late. I hope you have many precious days left with your beautiful girl.
  16. I have owned a Poodle, and I agree with everything you've said except the smell. I noticed ours absolutely STANK, had the worst doggy-smell I've ever smelt on a dog. She was healthy, didn't have any skin or ear infections, and was bathed weekly (because of the smell ), and lived inside, too.
  17. I'm not a rescue, but as a child my mother rehomed my cat (which had been a gift from her to me) because it refused to sit on her lap.
  18. Suggest they go have a look at a rescue, they have scores of DD's, at a fraction of the price.
  19. How amazing. My old BC boy knew bed, as soon as we said it he would very calmly trot up the hallway and sit at the back door, waiting. He also knew 'where's your ball?' as he would always get it stuck under the sofa or something and come and complain to us. If we hadn't seen where it went we'd say, 'where's your ball?' and he'd go to the spot he'd lost it, look at it, look at us, and whine. This also happened with us - If I couldn't find mum I'd ask him where she was and he'd find her, and vice versa. Also, when I did jumps with him or threw him the ball, I'd get him all riled up by saying, 'ya ready, are ya ready!?' and he'd start wiggling and whining as if to say, 'oh yes, yes I am!' Gotta love our little mates.
  20. I reckon she was probably a pretty eclectic mix. I would hazard a guess at ACD too, but there's probably several more in there. I wouldn't think she would be a first gen cross. She's a cutie, whatever she is.
  21. I found an old BC wandering the streets once and took him to my local vet. He was in shocking condition, with such a bad infestation of fleas (you could see them crawling all over him) that had been there for such a long time that he'd developed a bad skin infection and was pretty much bald from his shoulders back. He was constantly chewing himself in desperaton and was always making himself bleed. I didn't want him left at the vets overnight so I offered to take him home. I fed him, gave him some affection and spent over an hour flea-bathing him and massaging his skin. I dropped him back to the vet the next day as I had to work, and believe it or not the owners went and claimed him!! All the vets did was give them a bit of a tongue lashing about his skin condition and sent him home. They said they couldn't do anything else (ie reporting) because it was their dog! wth! Those vets I have to say though were pretty shocking. Glad I don't live in the area anymore. I went back up home for a visit just recently and saw the BC wandering around with his owners, in exactly the same condition I'd found him in before, and that had been over a year ago. So sad.
