There are still plenty of pound dogs that don't cost that much. Which is true, plenty of cheaper pound dogs, but what will happen to these puppies? And that again, is my concern, what will happen to puppies that are not adopted? Do they get put down? And if so, who's to blame then? The RSPCA for over inflating the adoption fee?
-
Exactly! I am not sure if it is the Chihuahua or the Papillon in the mix that makes them that expensive when most other dogs (desexed) up for adoption are only around $300-$400. The issue in my opinion, is that I do not think this is done to benefit or help the pups. And no, I am not trying argue the value of crossbred pups, but rather, I am questioning the RSPCA's ethics in jacking up the price of the pup and possibly turning away a potential home.

I was just looking through the PetRescue website and saw this puppy that cost $1000 in adoption fee. It seems so ridiculous because honestly, it just turns people off from adopting. Some might wonder, why not just go on Gumtree and look at some BYB pups that might cost less? I thought the whole point of a pet rescue organisation is to rehome these animals (to good homes) not to try to make money from the animals? I can understand some might argue, "oh, the high adoption fee is to ensure that the pups will go to a home that can financial afford and spoil them". But, seriously, the high adoption fee does not benefit the pups now do they? If anything, i think it might actually turn away potential good homes and delay their adoption. Anyways, thought I had to rant. I couldn't help myself. Let me know what your thoughts are and if perhaps, someone might see this differently, and why. Thanks.

Just bought mine off eBay, 8pack for $70 shipped from Poland. I bought it last week and it arrived this week. Expiry date was 1/2018. It's probably the cheapest I've ever seen it, quite impressed with price and the quick shipping.

They're fantastic. Brought my dog there when he was a pup, and we both enjoyed it heaps. I couldn't recommend it more!

What an odd post...it's like asking to be flamed!

Tobie has been on Artemis puppy and now adult dog food and is doing very well. I usually order it from K9 + Katz Kitchen, they have a 10% discount if you buy 2 bags. Delivery is pretty quick too.

By the sounds of, he might have a pretty dominant character. Definitely get enrolled in some sort of puppy classes and maybe obedience eventually. It'll help with getting the message through that you're boss. Perhaps watch out for resource guarding (eg growling when you're near his food bowl...not good if he does that to you as well...) as this may lead to other aggressive behaviour.

I have met two (same owner) while out for dinner one night, at first glance I thought it was a shih tzu cross, but then, upon closer inspection realised they were PBGVs! They seemed pretty placid and laid back...though I did read somewhere that they're pretty good escape artists. There aren't many of them around though it seems. One thing that struck me when I first saw a picture of one was that they look awfully similar to the little dog in the Beauty and the Beast cartoon!

I am fairly new to this forum (though been lurking around awhile now), and have to say that the DOL has proven itself to be a great community with genuine people always willing to help others in need. It is wonderful to see that so many people are willing to play a role in helping Jed in this very difficult time in her life. I have read many of Jed's posts and often, and often admire her sensibility and knowledge. I hope she will get better soon... and I am sure she will be very grateful to the folks here at DOL. -

wow amazing...looks like he's floating in the air -
I second that...was the same deal with my puppy when we got him at 8 weeks old. Heaps of crying and whinging the first couple of nights in the crate, but soon got the idea that he isn't getting anywhere carrying on like that. I suppose each time that he gets taken out of his crate and onto your bed when he cries, he is being rewarded for it (crying=sleeping on bed), and it will keep going. Just persevere a little bit more, he'll get there... =)

He is very cute though...=)

Are you looking for a pup to show? lol...I think he mentioned he was looking for a dog to bread

Here's my lil boy Tobie at 5 weeks with his momma!

My corgi puppy was brought outside for toileting almost every hour for the first 6-7 weeks. It might be difficult if you have to work, I was lucky to have a housemate who is home most days (studying) and is more than happy to babysit and take him out for toileting. During that time, despite being constantly taken out, he did occasionally have accidents. There was an isolated incident whereby he was squatting trying to poo on his bedding in his crate! I then blocked off 1/3 of the crate (don't worry it was a huge crate, so he still has ample space to stretch!) as I was told that the crate might have a bit too much space hence allowing him to have a separate toilet and sleeping quarter...and then voila! No more toileting in the crate! My point in this is that I reckon just having a pen might mean that your pup will have a bit too much space, and she may not know better to not toilet in the excess space or maybe she genuinely needed to go. With my pup, he was usually left in the pen where his crate is when no one is home. By taking him out very often, he soon got the idea to not wee/poo inside. He is 6 months now, and haven't had an accident in about 2 months. It was a lot of hardwork getting him where he is now, such as getting up everynight at 2.30am to let him out, but it is all worth it because he's doing so well now. But i agree with the others, once they start doing their business in the house, it'll reinforce the fact that it is okay to toilet inside.
