  1. We used their cattery a couple of years ago - very happy with them. They were nice enough to send us pictures of our cat when we were on holidays! No experience with their dog kennels though.
  2. kenzie frenzie toys - www.dogtoys.com.au
  3. I love that picture (the one that is a bit blurred) - good luck with your new big boy!
  4. Bella: Smella, Smelly, Smelly Belly, The Smelly One, Bear, Crazy Horse, Monster, Terrible Dog, Grosser, etc. Kong (cat): Kongo, Kongo Bongo, The Bong, Monkey, Monk-man, Monkey-boy, etc.
  5. Ok, so the general consensus is that I'm stressing to much! Thanks for all the replies!
  6. Hi there, My husband & I are going overseas for 4 weeks over Christmas. Our 19-month-old Berner will be staying in our house with my hubby's parents (very kind of them to housesit for us). Will she remember us, or be mad at us, when we get back? We've never left her for this amount of time before, and she is my first dog, so I have no experience with this! Am I stressing for nothing?
  7. We get presents too. A couple of times, Bella has eyed up the cat before deciding on a more inanimate present...
  8. If we tell Bella to "go find your brother" (a cat), she'll run outside and hunt under all the bushes until she finds the cat, then chases him to the back door - very convenient at nighttime!
  9. We have one - only issue is, Bella brings it to us as a present and then proceeds to drop it on our feet - OUCH! Also, we don't let her have it inside, as we have mostly tile floors and the banging noise it makes as she flings it everywhere is horrible!
  10. Our Berner loves the everlasting treat ball.....without the treat in it. She'll happily chew it for ages. Best toys we've gotten her, though, are Tuffie Toys. Bella has the starfish & the lizzard - both of which she has had for upwards of a month and hasn't destroyed yet - a miracle! http://www.vetnpetdirect.com.au/Products/Tuffie-Toys
  11. Thanks Christina - we're going back in about a week to see if the murmur is still there after the infection has settled down, and I'll definately be asking the vet these questions, but I am just trying to gather as much information as I can right now
  12. That Berners are born sedate, calm and placid....17 months & she is only now starting to settle down! That we must spend a fortune on food/she must eat a lot....
  13. Hi everyone, Last night our 2 year old cat was on the losing end of a cat fight, and ended up with a couple scratches and a bleeding eye. When we took him to the emergency vet, they discovered a heart murmur, which was confirmed by our regular vet today. This murmur wasn't present 8 weeks ago when he had his annual checkup & vaccination. Has anyone ever heard of a heart murmur coming on this quickly? What causes it? What are the treatments and the prognostic outcomes?
  14. First the town fair, now the pet expo! Anyone know if it is going to be rescheduled?
  15. Thanks Monah! Funny you should mention heat...she's just finished her first heat last weekend. I wonder if that has something to do with it?
  16. Our 1 1/2 year old Berner has been getting a wierd muscle spasm in her jaw lately. It happens after she cleans herself, and has been biting/niping her back legs or near her tail. Its like her jaw muscles get locked in that biting/niping activity...the only thing I can compare it to is when I used to do ballet, my foot would cramp from pointing so hard. She doesn't seem to be in any distress about it, and it goes away after about 10 seconds. Is this something we should be worried about? Anyone else seen anything like this?
  17. Thanks Christine - will keep an eye on her for a couple of days to see if it improves...
  18. Bella's eyes have been a bit more goopy than usual and she seems to be rubbing them a bit. I know that the last few days have been bad hayfever wise for me & my husband - could that be what is going on with bella?
  19. We have paid about $350 for a year's insurance with Pet Insurance Australia & have nothing but good things to say about them. Recently our 15-month old Berner wasn't drinking and was throwing up. $800 bill later (including xrays, rehydration, antibiotics & an overnight stay) she was all better & PIA paid up within 2 weeks, no questions asked. We chose the $250 dedultable, but even so, the insurance has paid for itself already. Very happy customer!
  20. She seems a lot more sensitive today around her vagina - she won't let me clean it like I have been doing. Is this normal?
  21. Thanks for your replies everyone! Tired a pair of undies on her & she went mad - wouldn't leave them alone and was running around dragging her butt on the ground. So, after a good laugh & a couple of priceless photos, we took them off of her. I've just been cleaning her (and the floors) with baby wipes - this should be ok, right?
  22. Thanks oakway! We have an agreement with her breeder to allow her to have one litter, and we are keeping her inside all the time (unless we are around to supervise). Its just the blood thats getting to me! She does her best to keep herself clean, but its particularly bad in the morning - this morning she jumped up on our bed & now I have to go home to wash the doona cover - yuck!
  23. Hi there, Our 15 month old Berner has just come into season for the first time. We noticed drops of blood last Saturday night. I know that heat lasts about 3 week - does she continue to bleed for that entire time? Cheers!
