Congratulations kallistar and Tux

Can definately do that RS. Congratulations Mirawee. Scary stuff Ptolomy...glad you got back to your cars and nothing was pinched...not sure what the answer is as none of us have intimidating dogs and I think they know that. My biggest fear is if they steal the car with the dogs in it or do something to them... I can replace stolen items but not my dogs!! I think K9 is being targeted right now and we all have to be very vigilant.

Thanks to RubyStar and Ptolomy for helping out with my exams and being my guinea pigs to sort out my rounds. Happy to say I passed both the theory and practical exams and have been officially informed I am now a UD Judge! :D

It really does suck big time RubyStar. You were down there helping out and this was done to you Karma comes around and you are due for a whole lot of good stuff! On the plus side Ruby worked beautifully and her boxes are to die for! Lovely

Problem with figure eight is that usually (and nearly always in WA) it comes at the end of the heeling routine. If your dog has lost concentration, then coming down the ring towards the onlookers at the end of the ring complete with a couple of handlers hovering with their dogs just outside the ring plus stewards coming into the ring to set up can be quite intimidating and distracting. I reckon he has to learn to attack the figure eight and treat it like a separate exercise. Train it like the Americans where it is a separate part of the heeling and then work in your transitions. Use people especially at agility training where there is high distractions and work the first bit...choose which way you are going to go...(around the outside or the inside first)and train the first few steps...going around one person only...then the straight etc etc. Lots of proofing. Manners Minder - Best Place To Buy?
bedazzledx2 replied to pie's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I got mine from Clean Run and shared shipping with someone...worked out the cheapest. If you are doing a Clean Run order I reckon a few of us could join in and share shipping???? -
You forget that I had my very own Ruby to contend with Must be the name  She was very like your girl and was over friendly and would mug anyone given half a chance. I lost 5 points for touching her collar in a trial once...very expensive!!! She taught me so much the witch

RS its actually stated in the Rule book page 11... Physical Guidance: such as putting the dog into place or restraint between exercises, must be penalised Lots of people do lots of things that may or may not be in the rules and yes I have seen lots of collar grabs in trials... ;) Take it as a training challenge. Can you get and maintain control in a training situation without resorting to using the collar. This is where mock trials can be useful to iron out these little glitches.

Some Ideas To Keep Heelwork Exciting
bedazzledx2 replied to Mason_Gibbs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Have you trained any tricks? Does he get excited if you ask him for something different? Gotta go to work...I'll get back to you -
Well mine was a bit opposite :D On the positive side my occasionally clever one did a ripper seek back in UDX but then missed the sit in PIM On the positive side he won UD on a nice score of 192 and sat in the box both times unlike last week when he stood there looking at me...duh ;) Scoota looked like he was having a blast in UDX Ptolomy

Hortfurball It was lovely meeting you and you OH Friday night. Was all set to go when I checked the dates and realised I am judging at Albany. Sorry will have to pass on the dinner...would have loved to have gone and met up with you all. Maybe next year. Have fun everyone

Are these older dogs, not pups? That is a worry....I wonder if its a different strain.
-
Depends if I'm next to Ptolomy or at the other end of the line up Good thing my dog knows what to do :D
-
I have crepitus in my shoulder....had it since I was a teenager (looong time ago ;) ) Its still there but doesn't cause any pain or discomfort. Don't know if this is the same as in dogs.
