  1. Congratulations CC....what a fantastic day for you and your girls
  2. Had a brilliant day one at the Perth Royal. Brookie worked beautifully in UDX for a win but sadly a non qualie...frigging MR! He won UD on a good score of 192, but the best bit was a win and title in Masters Snooker with a timely "Heel" allowing us to get down the ring past the tempting jumps....go the obedience dog!!!
  3. kennels everytime....they might not be happy but they will be safe! For a few weeks I can live with my dogs being less than happy than if they were home but I could not deal with a tragedy if they were allowed out the gate and hit by a car if the house sitter was careless....it only takes one slip up.
  4. Well done CC My advice to you would be to consider getting OC from UD and UDX? As Ptolomy said...we left things late in the boys careers and second time around I would be looking to move quickly from UD onto UDX.
  5. Congratulations Tassie and Rory Awesome work Brilliant work from Ptolomy and Moo and yes MR is a STOOPID exercise. We were sooooo close with really nice work until the dreaded MR and poor boy is very confused. On a brighter note he won UD in the morning on 197 and again in the afternoon on 195 good boy :D
  6. Huge congratulations Kathq It'll all come together now
  7. I had a kelpie who was susceptible to nail and nail bed injuries. At one stage she developed an infection that got into the bone and she had lots of tests and specific antibiotics which did fix the problem but not before she lost a couple of toe tips which had to be amputated. She was a pretty good agility dog and the amputations never affected her running or jumping. eta only the toe tip was removed..the last bone..not the entire toe.
  8. Nooooo! :) He always gets the cheese :D The method helps to build enthusiasm and drive and also serves to allow some distance for a proper recall.
  9. E&H you can introduce the two food game when he wont leave you. Use firm largish bits of cheese thats easy for him to see. Cheap cheese is actually better as it has the consistency of plastic :D Keep him on lead and make a production of throwing a piece of food for him to go get. Dont throw it too far in the beginning. When he gobbles it up make a production of throwing another piece in the opposite direction, again making sure he sees it happening. Use a cue...'get it' which gives him permission. Pretty soon you will be able to throw it a fair distance and you can practice recalls on the move...throw the food and while he is racing to get it you take off in the other direction until he turns and then you have a party as he is returning to you. Good way to exercise a dog who is on a long line.
  10. If you go to your State's web page they usually have a run down of requirements and training clubs. It should also give you a list of show and trial dates if not a schedule which tells you where and when trials are and you can go and have a look see. Careful....once bitten by the bug.....

  18. I use whatever's on special!!! Semi matured is best as its plasticky but any will do.
  19. Have my own brag...we are one step closer to Gr Ch Brookie quallied in UDX on the weekend with a lovely score of 190. Four down, one to go. No pressure!!!! He also won UD on 190 so he's being very consistent :D

  21. WTG xena!!!! Looks like you're on a roll Good luck for the next trial.
  22. Might be a silly question, but are you sure its the implant you are feeling and not his microchip? Assuming it hasn't moved, the microchip and the implant feel very similar and are put in the same place.
