Brilliant stuff Tassie WTG

Champion Tails is a very effective whitening shampoo...however, I developed a severe alergic reaction to it and so did dogs suseptable to skin problems. I have always been susceptable to skin alergies so I think I am pre-disposed and probably skin alergy dogs are too.

I use a Clipper 6 to fly my Aussie. Check the requirements of the airline in the small print. -
How To Become More Interesting

In response to Obi246 original post.... Yes I have an idea...I have a reactive (over friendly and dumb to other dogs body language) youngster that I am training with an approach similar to but not the same as, LAT (Look at that). Arm yourself with a clicker (yes a clicker...for this to work the clicker is definitely the best tool), later on you won't need it.... and lots of yummy soft treats. If you don't train with a clicker it would be worth getting him clicker savvy and train some tricks and do some shaping games first. Work under threshold at all times. Start by having him on lead and see if you can work out where he starts to react, go back a few paces to where he is calm, this threshold will be a fluid, changing distance so you have to be prepared to go with it. When he notices, but doesn't react to the distraction, watch him carefully, when he disengages which could be a head shift, a sniff, a tongue flick, click and he will turn to you for the treat. Start again.... Keep him on lead and don't allow him to practice behaviour you don't want. You can use tuggy as well but only after he has disengaged. I find the click and treat to be a bit more surgical in the beginning stages. Good luck! -

She will be conducting a seminar in Perth...pm me if you are interested. I have yet to promote it publicly but that will happen soon. I am a big fan of Denise who has competed at the highest levels using positive and clicker training -
Great stuff Tassie...congratulations So title next trial? :D Hope you're training for Open and UD and dare I say it....UDX

Could be one of the dogs barking (vocalising) and yawning at the same time? Very weird

Check out your local FreeCycle website and also most suburbs have a FaceBook Buy Swap and Sell page. I got swimming pool fencing and gates very cheap that way.

Thanks guys....UDX...not exactly easy but he is definitely more confident and I think he is understanding and enjoying the class more now ... That could all be proved wrong and total dribble next week of course

OK...I'll join you in absentia :D ...any excuse..

192 quallie in UDX tonight I think he's finally understanding this class :D The leathers were visible but he didn't lock on to the first one (my crappy turn), but he surprised me by going out the distance and looking for it...fantastic :D The second one was much better

Interesting point about the release word. I do believe you need to train a release so the dog is in no doubt that they are not working at that moment. My dogs will try to re-engage me but I simply don't reward what I don't want :) If I just want a walk with no attention from them I will say "off you go" and not reward any attention seeking and they get the message and go do their doggy thing. I actually have a range of release cues which I use in different contexts.... in any performance area they know the release is temporary and they are to re-engage immediately. -

It sure is a dumb exercise!!!! Well done for getting nearly all the way to the end ...must have been a heartbreaker

Go to Bunnings and get the orange goo off...not sure what its called but its a citrus based oil that removes chewing gum, tar, glue...just about anything. Once removed wash with a good quality dog shampoo and condition really well.

Is there a way to simply upload a photo from your computer without having to go through an external photo hosting page like PhotoBucket? when I click on the icon to insert image it starts with a http/ and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to just upload.... Suggestions for a numpty please

Well actually no....a qualified Behaviourist is a very highly trained proffession. The problem is people are calling themselves a behaviourist when all they've done is some kind of pet training course (the bit of paper) and calling themselves a behaviourist. Its a bit like doing a first aid course and then calling yourself a paramedic!!!!!! If you are seeking out a Behaviourist you need to see the university qualification!
