  1. Thanks very much - I just didn't want to ask until I had to. It would be much kinder to her - and to myself. Would we then call a Pets in Peace or someone like that for cremation? This is my first time that I have to do this and am unsure ...
  2. I was just wondering, has anyone ever asked their vet to come to their home to put their dog to 'sleep' when it was time - and were they receptive to the idea? I have to start thinking of things like that and she is so terrified of the vet rooms that she starts doing the 'shakin' dog' dance even before she gets carried through the door. It would mean a horrible last 10 minutes for her. I'd love it if vet was able to come to us. I haven't asked yet - we are only 5 minutes drive from there so it's not as if it's a long way? Has anyone ever done that? Thanks very much
  3. How long were you able to have with her and how did you know when it was time... She doesn't realise she's sick and still wants to run in the park. I've noticed as the weather has become hotter that she is panting alot more - although she only coughs when she wakes up and stretches never when she's running. But every time I hear her cough it scares me witless. I have to keep on taking her back every 2 months to get blood tests - although she hates the place so much I actually do think she'll have a heart attack while they're taking the blood. It mustn't be goo for her to have that much stress.. Sorry for so many questions but this is the first time I've been able to speak to someone who knows..
  4. Hi, I'm new to dogzonline - I have a silky terrier(12 yrs old) who has been diagnosed with advanced heart problems. I had taken her to my vet when she started making coughing noises as if she has a hairball in her throat. He then picked up a heart murmur and referred her to a specialist for tests. Only then did I find out just how close she was to drowning in her own fluid! She is on 3 types of meds and we have 2 monthly check ups at the hospital. She's been given a 6 - 12 month time frame. Does anyone else have a loved one with this problem - and how do you cope? It would help if I knew of others in this situation. I'm in Brisbane and the 35.5 heat really dropped her to her knees.
