  1. Me either I think leaving a cc on when unsupervised is completely irresponsible and extremely dangerous I use a prong collar on Kody when we are out training. He knows that it is time for training if he is wearing it. I was taught how to use the collar correctly at my training club and wouldn't dream of leaving it on him unattended. He gets very excited when he hears the chink on the collar before I put it on him. When we are at home he is naked and if we are going out in the car he is on a flat collar. I hate it when I see people using cc incorrectly and try to show them how they should be used if I have the chance. I hate the fact that cc can be purchased in the supermarket and come without any instructions at all! Used incorrectly they have the potential to do so much damage.
  2. What a lovely tribute JB. Sorry you had to say goodbye to your babies, but know that both Ari and Baz knew how much you loved them. RIP kitties.
  3. I am glad to hear your new puppy is helping with the healing process Dwilds. We had to pts our 9 year old Berman Cat just a couple of weeks after my brother passed away a few years ago. Losing Bronson on top of my brother was very hard for my other brother and I, so mum suggested we look at getting a kitten. I never thought we would get another pet so soon after losing one, we had always waited long periods between pets. However the addition of Tyler and Rory helped immensely during this time as it gave us something to get up for each day. I am glad to hear that you and the other posters have also found comfort in the addition (or the existence) of a new fur family member.
  4. I purchased the XL size for my boy. He had one for inside and one for outside. The outside one lasted two days before Kody tore it apart. (he was a chewer as a pup) Kody tended to overheat in the inside one. So I lent it to my parents for their 11yr old GSD, who seems to love the nice warm cosy feeling. They are great as it also has the added benefit if you dog sleeps in the bedroom, he doesn't have to lean against the wall which can make marks. I like them for inside as they are nice and neat.
  5. Oh Steve - how sad for that WA man. I can't even begin to imagine how that would of been for him. I am lucky as my parents are always threatening to keep Kody when we visit, so I know that he would be more than welcome as they absolutely love him, I don't know what I would do otherwise. I guess he could go back to his breeder, I should really have another back up plan.
  6. My boy is exactly the same! I have to go outside with him when it is raining and tell him to go, which he will eventually do but looks at me like I am the meanest cow! But if it's raining and it is time for his walk, well no problems there! He will happily go out.
  7. Voted too, and agree that banning the breed is not the solution!
  8. I give these guys a big thumps up too! I have always had fantastic service from them, and received my order within a couple of days. WM - they only charge $5 per delivery! I have noticed a lot of other internet companies charge by weight which can make ordering online rather expensive.
  9. Hi Norskgra I feed Kody the Duck formula and he is doing wonderfully on it. I would suggest that you contact EP directly and explain your situation, as they have kindly offered me advice in the past and also sent me out samples for free. Phone: 1300 8 EAGLE (1300 8 32453) Fax: 61 3 9921 9921 [email protected] Also don't forget with the Super Premium foods, you can take the food back for an exchange/refund if you dog doesn't like it/do well on it. I had no problems doing this with another brand when Kody was itchy on it.
  10. Thank heavens the dog survived this horrible abuse!! I hope they catch the sicko who did this, mind you as SpottyChick points out, they will probably only receive a slap on the wrist if that!
  11. LuvLottie - Lottie is beautiful!
  12. Send Penny good vibes and healing thoughts. Bet you are very shaken Kirislin, hope all goes well with the vets. :D
  13. I too get all teary when I see the adds. Peppertree - I would have thought the ratios would be higher too??
  14. VJB - Heidi looks like she is having an absolute blast! I still walk Kody in the rain. He has a coat and he doesn't seem to mind the rain as long as we are on our walk. But if we are home and he needs to toilet in the rain, well he isn't impressed in the slightest! Perhaps I should get an umbrella for him
  15. Jed Thank you for sharing with us the precious photos and tributes to your furbabies. I can only imagine how heartbroken you must be. It is hard enough to loose a loved one to old age let alone to be faced with what you have been. At least they always knew that you loved them. I know that they are now peacefully watching over you and your remaining furbabies. I am saddened to hear that you have been released from hospital already. I hope that the pain eases and you continue to recover well at your friends home. BTW you looked fantastic, and held it together like the trooper you are in the interview, you must have been so nervous! I hope tonight is a better night for you. xx
  16. WOW!!!Great to see you are on the mend Jed! I have been offline for a couple of weeks, so I am still catching up on this thread, however you have not been far from my thoughts. I think my eyes nearly popped out of my head when I came across your post. Now there seems to be something in them. Keep up your healing, you are so courageous Jed!
  17. Thinking of you Pugmum, during this difficult time. to you.
  18. One I heard on an American dog site scared the hell outa me. Apparently the Stafford's skull needs to "be" split.....eg, you split its skull yourself.....or it can die as the brain grows too large for the skull. God I hope no one took that on board and bopped their dog over the head! :p WTF!!! Where do myths like these come from! :p
  19. Still thinking of you and your clan Jed. I hope you continue to heal well. Sending you healing vibes everyday. Oh and thought I would drop off a homemade mud cake with fresh cream and strawberries to share with those fellow Dolers in the warm and inviting waiting room. xxx
  20. That is just too cute! What a good girl Phoebe is
  21. I can not believe that someone actually thought of something so ridiculous!
  22. How funny! Lucy certainly does look like a mini version of Ruger. Cazstaff, your fur family are very good looking! :D
  23. I also feel that yard size is irrelevant providing you provide enough mental and physical stimulation. I have a small yard and Kody is only out in it whilst I am at work. We do 5kms in the morning before I leave and he has interesting things to chew on and dig for whilst I am away. He just sleeps whilst I am gone anyway. I am lucky as we back directly onto an off leash oval so I do our training out on that. When I am home he wants to be wherever I am so is inside with me. I am sure that he just sees our yard as a big toilet anyway! Before I purchased this place we lived with my parents who have 7 acres. He would self exercise out there, however only when he could see the Kangaroos in the adjoining paddocks (he would run our fence line, something we are working on!). When there are no roos around he just wants to be inside with everyone else. I felt incredibly guilty when I bought this house because of the yard size, however anything with a bigger yard was out of my price range. I had contemplated leaving Kody with the parents, however decided to trial him here with me. I found that as long as I am committed to simulating him physically and mentally each day he is happy. It is great for me as it forces me to get outside rain, hail or shine each day.
  24. That video was so funny! I love the Greyhound's reaction!
  25. Hi Miloch I have no advice, I just wanted to pass on my condolences. This must have been a horrible shock for you, and not having an answer as to the cause, must make it all the harder to deal with. to you and may your pup RIP. Maybe your breeder can offer some advice. I would let them know.
