  1. Its always sad to see them put down and we dont know how it was tested, but that how it pans out sometimes. it would be great to save them all but its not always possible. I worked at an animal shelter 25 years ago and things where so different then, the amount of animals that were PTS was unbelievable
  2. i think greys are the average families perfect pet, low maintenance, lazy, quite happy to laze around (mine havnt been walked for 2 days. Am i bad),
  3. that is about all a greyhound would ask of you
  4. racing greys are usually kept on the lean side, once they become pets most can be fattened up
  5. I agree with Rebanne. If something happens with a swf it will be more bad publicity for the greyhound
  6. I have have fostered greys that have been out of racing for only a week and they usually adjust so well to home life. House training is easy and they are funny to watch when they see TV for the first time, sometimes walk into windows etc. They soon find a comfy place to sleep and settle. I think a lot of people think they are aggressive because they have to wear a muzzle and that they need heaps of exercise , but that is far from the truth, my JRT is more likely to bite me than one of the greys (and I have fostered over 20). They are generally a very placid and lazy dog. They only have a short racing life, until 4 or 5, and so then they are rehomed to make room for more dogs
  7. Unfortunately that how it can be for greys. There are 6 greys at my local RSPCA looking for homes. I have 2 myself and just wish i could take them all
  8. Is there any clubs starting in Victoria, around the Mornington Peninsula area Lynda
  9. You had to be there to see but this dog was just soooo funny. ahhh if life was so easy
  10. I got one from petstock. its great as you can change the length. One side can be longer than the other if you want or you can adjust the length between the dogs which is good if you have different size dogs and with fosters yours dogs can vary a lot in size any news on the pups Lynda
  11. I am with the SES and was called out last night to a flood, water was just about in the house. The owners had a JRT x that was having the time of its life, running through the water chasing the brooms as we swept, very interested in the water pump and barking at the truck when strange voice came through the loud speaker. He was jumping all over the strange people in orange that where walking around his house. The owner weren't to happy about it but to the the dog it was the best adventure ever. He certainly kept me amused standing in the rain and cold at 1 in the morning Lynda
  12. You need to be logged into facebook first

  14. He is a beautiful pup. I have a blue greyhound and i just love the color
  15. Do you mind me asking how much you were quoted. I have thinking about getting one for my wagon. Did you find anyone else who makes them?
  16. I only ever use martingale collars on my greys and soft leads. Any leads over 1 metre are banned in my area
  17. How do you vote. Is it just the "like" link Lynda
  18. I just think it is a really nice thing to do and it was so totally unexpected
  19. Last week I had to have my Golden Ret PTS for health reasons, but today I received a lovely card from the Vet and nurses expressing their condolences over my loss. I really thought it was a lovely gesture and really appreciated it, I dont know if other vets do this Lynda
  20. Hope you have discussed this his mum
  21. About 18months ago I was wanting another dog but wasnt able to have one permanently, so was looking at puppy walking for the guide dog centre but I lived to far away for them so after a bit of research I decided to foster for GAP. Now I have two greys of my own 1 from GAP and a rescue from Hawkesbury (which I intended to rehome) and I would never have another breed now. I never had anything to do with greys until then and now I am hooked
