  1. Permoxin is a chemical which needs to be diluted. You can get it from vets, and some produce stores? If your vets don't have it, they can order it in for you. Lasts AAAAAGGGGGEEEESSSSSS! -WithEverythingIAm
  2. Are they Panda? Do you have their contacts? I SHOULD get back into Agility next year. Rocky used to love doing Agility classes - in fact so did Molly. Do they just do Obed/Agility there? -WithEverythingIAm
  3. They will start breeding. If you're to take your dog to the dog park, or any other place where there may be fleas (ie friends houses?) then you will bring them with you. To prevent this from happening, get some "Capstar" Tablets from your local vet, and each time you are leaving the dog park, pop one down the dogs throat, and it'll kill any fleas that jump on and bite them in the next 24hours, and you won't be bringing any fleas home with you! Capstar is basically a flea wash in a tablet, so reduces the need for you to be washing so often either. If really bad, maybe dogs have Flea Allergy Dermatitis, which if the case, will need a vet visit to releive them of the itchiness! -WithEverythingIAm
  4. Hmmm... just looking agiain and I cant find that anywhere in the Information Guide.... However I just read the sheet provided wtih more detailed info on the electives, and it does say that.... bugger! I will have to give them a call and cut back to 2 electives if that's a requirement. I think that Food and Water would be really interesting, but I want to do the other ones more, and I think doing 4 electives is probably a bit too much at one time. It also states you can complete the other electives after you finish if you want to, so I might do that.... LOL - Probably a good idea. I've done "Provide Food & Water" for my Vet Nursing course - I think all the other electives are a TAD more interesting -WithEverythingIAm
  5. Yes 600 is quite a lot isn't it Rom? Probably a good thing I decided against starting in the first lot. Plus it would be VERY difficult to do both this course and my Vet Nursing at the same time. So best that I allow only to focus on one thing at a time! -WithEverythingIAm
  6. Have you already done "Provide Food and Water for Animals" module elsewhere? Reason I ask as I'm sure it says in the info provided that if you do 3 or more modules you HAVE to include this module -WithEverythingIAm
  7. We use the deshedding loop as displayed on page 1, but we have a Labrador :D It was only purchased last month when we went on holidays, and dog was majorly shedding in the unit we hired. So thought, right, must go buy a grooming tool for her. So we popped down to PetStock, and purchased one. In Labs at shedding time, It's much more simple than a slicker, and much quicker too, and she LOVED it - even my cat wanted a go, and she hates being brushed!!! We generally don't brush the Boxer. Occasionally we'll use a zoom groom, or a rubber glove, but generally they're a wash n wear breed, and hair is too short to "brush". -WithEverythingIAm
  8. The only thing desexed dogs can't participate in is comformation showing - but only because most clubs can't be bothered (not profitable) running desexed classes! :D A few Links Lure Coursing Held at Kuraby - we compete in Coursing with our Boxer Dog Sledding Mostly held at Beerwah - Sunshine Coast Dog Frisbee Held different spots around Brisbane Flyball Australia Not sure where clubs are here? CCCQ website can help you with info on the ANKC sports There might be some doggy dancing clubs around too? "hesapandabear" could probably help you with contacts for herding, and perhaps "rom" for Tracking? Oh there's also a Schutzhund Club in Brisbane somewhere - can't really remember contacts for that? What type of dog do you own? -WithEverythingIAm
  9. Lots of sports in SEQ!!! First there's the "normal" ANKC sports... Obedience Agility Jumpers Endurance Tracking Herding then there's the "non ANKC" sports... Flyball Lure Coursing Dog Sledding Doggy Frisbee I'm sure there's more, but I'm just a bit tired from work right now to remember -WithEverythingIAm
  10. I'm one of those Lab owners with a nicely built lab. Not much fat, lots of muscle. She looks GREAT! Although she was overweight - when she lived at my parents for a year - and has arthritis now because of it. She's starting on Cartrophen injections soon. Doesn't help her joints much that she's ball/frisbee/water mad! So we try to keep playing to a minimum, and a bit of walking but not too much running. See what I mean by frisbee mad? Oh she's also much faster at fetch than the muscley Boxer too. They're both in peak optimal condition! -WithEverythingIAm
  11. Doing sums - i don't really think I can afford it yet either? Just being realistic. If I knew in advance, I could have saved the money. Will there be a 2nd course run this year? if not, I may have to wait until the following year. I'm still doing my Vet Nursing Course, and probably couldn't handle doing so many assignments as well. Oh and I'm importing a cat this year, which doesn't help money matters! Oh well... -WithEverythingIAm
  12. That's dreadful! If they can afford to get their dog clipped, I'm sure they can take it to get checked by a vet! -WithEverythingIAm
  13. Yes I did know that, but thanks for pointing it out haven! ;) It DOES make it harder, as I was thinking if they were the same, I knew which other 2 I was going to do! I'll keep thinking about it - still a month away to choose right? -WithEverythingIAm
  14. Not a lot of money to be made in selling dog food Sags. If that is what you're getting at? Also, not many people have time to whip up a batch of BARF every few days, and to get the right fat:protein:phosperous ratios. BTW - I'm now a BARF feeder to both my dogs (which they were on before when my parents were looking after them whilst we were looking for a house, but they had no idea as to proportions no matter how much I told them to give!). My Boxer is on a high fat/protein diet for his different performance sports, whilst the Lab is on a low protein/fat diet to keep her in tip-top shape. -WithEverythingIAm
  15. I think the best kind of exercise for a dog that size/weight/age would be swimming - against a current perhaps - so as not to cause further damage to the joints/cartilage/bones in his big ol' body! Just my opinion though... -WithEverythingIAm
  16. Flycow - it's Hills Perscription r/d that you want for a dog diet, and w/d after they've lost enough weight for maintanance, unless you're careful and switch over to another diet, but keep an eye on weight, and adjust food consumption accordingly. The Vet or senior Vet Nurse should know about r/d as the hills reps would have been flogging the "pet slimmer of the year" competition to them at the start of the year. -WithEverythingIAm
  17. is that stuff easy to find? get it at vets? Yes it's available at all vets - If they don't have it in stock, they can order it in for you. -WithEverythingIAm
  18. Our New Years Resolution this year was to get our Lab's weight down from 38KG's - she's now nice & healthy around 30KG's! She looks great, and has muscle tone now, from all the exercise she's done (mostly swimming with a bit of walking & fetch play in the backyard). You need to get the weight off ASAP, or they may develope Arthritis Symptoms like my girl has now - she limps whilst running/walking. We had her on Hills Perscription r/d diet, and it worked AMAZINGLY, and can not speak highly enough of it, and recommend it to all n sundry with fat dogs! -WithEverythingIAm
  19. UH-huh! That explains it then... makes it harder for me to choose now though! Thanks Haven! -WithEverythingIAm
  20. What's everyone thinking of doing for their electives? I'm still un-decided, but won't be doing "Provide Food & Water For Animals" based on the fact I've already done it! :D Is there anyone here who's done the course? I was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between the Core Unit "Conduct Dog Obedience and Agility Training" & the Elective module "Conduct Companion Animal Training Classes"? Thanks guys! -WithEverythingIAm
  21. Thiamine - T-H-I-A-M-I-N-E - Thiamine, from the Greek Thia Vitamine, Something about B1, and vegemite. :D sorry couldn't help it... -WithEverythingIAm
  22. Helen, My post was for "where's my rock" who said something about wanting Delta people to do instructing at their obedience club. Seeing as though we're all doing NDTF course, I was wondering where the relevance was in their post. -WithEverythingIAm
  23. Sorry but what's that got to do with NDTF? Are you trying to convert people over to the other course? Sorry but the waiting waiting brigade has been looking forward to this course for ages, so you won't get any converts here -WithEverythingIAm
  24. In the mail today I got pamphlets for... NDTF Cert III Dog Behaviour & Training DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE!!! YAY!!! Now I just gotta find the $$$ to start next year! Any of the other waiting waiting brigade got their info? & who's thinking of doing it? -WithEverythingIAm edit: spelling mistake!
  25. There's also Big Dog Pet Foods but they don't deliver. If you want prices, I have a price list on my computer. VERY reasonable priced. I have a Boxer & A Lab, and it's cheaper for me to feed them these guys BARF that it would be for me to buy them a can of dog food each from the supermarket each day!!! :D -WithEverythingIAm
