Looking For A Pug In Rescue
Snout Girl replied to gillbear's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
whilst I do agree with you that as a general rule pugs should not be without other canine company during the day if its humans are at work, I find this notion that an application that has a retired couple or stay at home parent (for example) is somehow superior to someone who works a little misguided. Who's to say that the 'ideal' stay at home mum with older kids isnt going to stick the dog in the backyard all day because it sheds and they are house proud? Or be off all day socialising, shopping etc? There are no certainties, so each application should be looked at for its merit not dismissed because someone is an 'evil full time worker' or immediately put to the top of the pile just because someone is a stay at home mum or retired couple(for example). -

sorry to be off topic, but how utterly ridiculous and short sighted. So basically you need to be retired or a billionaire to own a Pug? Apparently! It's the most ridiculous things ever. I must be a shocking pug owner- I work full time, so does my fiance and we have 2 of the buggers! Plus a border collie! Gasp, Shock!!! lol -

Golden Retriever Puppy - Feeding Query

All 3 of the breeders I got my dogs from had weetbix and milk on their diet sheet as breakfast. All 3 are registered breeders, all 3 different people. 2 also had pal down as lunch/dinner. I am the one that did research and changed to a premium diet with no input from the breeders. So we cant assume it wasnt a registered breeder that the OP purchased her dog from. -

Looks like this story has a happy ending with a litle lady named Poppy about to make a grand entrance at my MIL place. I cant wait to give her cuddles and introduce her to my 3 rat bags. Thanks to Aphra who my MIL cant speak more highly about Animal Rehoming Services loss! -

I have just looked at their website and the person who abused my MIL is one of the founders, so not a random dog owner. This lady could do a lot of damage to the rescue industry, my MIL said she was screeching at her like a banshee to the point where my MIL thought she must have a mental illness. my MIL is also a very reasonable person and not prone to exaggeration. -

Thanks mate, you guys sound perfect. Would you have a phone number I could pass on? As far as I know my mother in laws internet skills are fairly limited and she does not have an email address. I know she would much rather have chat over the phone :) -
They are based in Victoria. My mother in law rang them about a dog they have advertised on pet rescue, and the lady was so rude to her that my mother in law is almost turned off rescue completely. she basically told my mil that the dog is only 1 and that my mil doesn't have long to live so how would the dog be cared for. mind you, she never asked my mil age, and was only guessing from her voice as to her age. my mother in law tried to explain that if anything happened she has 4 sons who all have dogs that could help and then the lady called her a stupid old lady and a moron and hung up on her. understandably, the whole family is furious. I have the name of the lady but am refraining from putting it in the public light at the present time. Could anyone please direct me to any decent, ethical rescues in Victoria that are not against rehoming to a healthy couple in their mid 60s? they would like a small terrier type dog, young (about 2 years) but not a puppy. very experienced dog house, recently lost their beloved kelpie/staffy at age 12. dog would be inside/outside, mil is home all day, they want to train it to come away on frequent trips in a caravan. if anyone knows of any rescues that might be able to assist my mil, I would be very grateful. also, if anyone knows anyone who works for animal rehoming inc IRL please tell them to get some people skills and pull their heads in.
