When my OH and I bought our own house it was decided we would each get to pick a breed of dog. I chose pug, he border collie. We werent actually meant to get a puppy from Sally's litter. The breeder had another litter due 4 weeks after Sally's, perfect timing as that allowed us a month in our new place to prepare. The breeder rang me all excitied when the litter was born and said 'there is one little merle girl, and she is yours!'. we were beside ourselves with excitement. A few days later she rang again and said 'sorry, but your little merle girl turned out to be a little merle boy!' she said however that there were 3 merle girls born in the earlier litter and 2 were still available. the only down side was they were due to be picked up 2 weeks before we moved into our house! we went and spoke to the breeder who agreed to keep the pup 2 weeks longer if we decided to take one. she opened a door and out tumbled 6 of the furriest, fluffiest things ever. she pointed out the 2 that were available. one was the largest in the litter with promeninet merle markings and quite boisterous, the other smaller, only slightly marked and more timid. OH immediately felt drawn to the smaller 'cuter' one but my eyes were only for big fluff bum. 4 weeks later she moved into the new house with us the same night we moved in! lol and slept on the floor with us! not ideal but we wouldnt change having her. And that is how Sally came to be with us Bert was chosen for us by the breeder but the story is a little amusing. We went to seem him at 7 weeks. We wernt sure if it was the right house so we (my mum and I) sent OH to the door to find out! A lady came to the door holding this tiny, teeny pug. As we walked in I remember thinking 'aw how cute, she must of had another litter and that is one of the newborns.' wasnt I in for a shock! she popped the pup on the ground and said 'meet your boy'. i almost passed out. this wasnt a dog, it was a rat! no way could something that small survive Sally! I looked at OH and he had gone chalk white! When we were leaving OH had been very quiet and still very pale. I asked him if he was alright and he made up some excuse about it smelling inside and making him feel a little ill. he did joke that we wouldnt need to worry about walking bert, we would just need to purchase one of the those mouse wheels and put him on that! needless to say when we collected him a week later thankfully he had grown and now my OH is pushing to get a 2nd pug! and that is how chaos and mayhem came to live in our house!

I am embarassed to admit I thought it was a toy when I first looked at the photos The eyes looked plasticy (if that is even a word). In my defence I havent had a lot to do with poodles, except for the 'oodles' I see at the dog park. And I also have the flu at the moment gorgeous dog tho

aaw mate dont be too hard on yourself, you're only human. our emotions get the better of all of us at times. my dad has a favorite saying that might apply here: lock your wife and your dog in the boot of your car for 2 hours and see who is glad to see you when you open it your dog loves you unconditionally, he will have a little sulk but he will be back

Material cost $22. There was lots of left over material, so I've now made 3 plaited tug toys of different lengths and thickness and I've also made a cover for his wubba which he chewed the legs off one day when I wasn't looking. So now his wubba has legs again you should start up a business you would make a mint from non crafty people like me! :D

Hi all I am at my wits end trying to find a couch cover that actually works and doesnt cost an arm and a leg People have suggested old sheets but I want something that is not completely unattractive if unexpected guests pop by. I have purchased some from Big W but the dirt just goes right through onto the couch, which just cost me $200 to have cleaned I have found a company called Barka Parka that makes covers that sound good and made to stop dog hair and dirt getting on to the couch check it out http://www.barkaparka.com.au/index_files/Accessories.htm#1 has anyone used them? or any others that are good? I dont want to ban the dogs from the couches completely but am so fed up trying to keep them clean!

Anyone Who Lives In Melbourne
Snout Girl replied to iheartmorrison's topic in General Dog Discussion
I can recommend 4 paws- have been attending the past year with my 2 of dogs. Trish and her husband are both lovely. There are some fantastic instructors there who always ask you how you are going etc. As for class sizes, they are a little on the large size, but the instructors are skilled enough to get around to everyone and help them. if you have specific problems, they always make the time for you if you stay after class with questions. they were an enormous help when it came to sally's 'biting'. Edited as I forgot how many dogs I have -
that gave me a good laugh what a star! how could anyone be scared of that face? he's too much of a cutie!

I will take both Kibah and Feather please

I feel your pain.....my mum tells me all the time we are cruel for keeping sally in suburbia mind you she gets walked, played with, trips to beach/parks...but we are cruel

Sally was $165 about 4 months ago and Bert was $220 2 months ago (different vets, were not happy with sally's care so we switched for bert).

Does Your Oh Allow Your Dog/s To Sleep On The Bed?
Snout Girl replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
ummm no never in a million years would my OH allow the dogs on the bed! :D Bert sleeps between us snoring his little head off. sally prefers the couch, but sometimes she sleeps on the floor next to our bed. -
Bert is a 1 year old on April 30th My family pug (Ernie) is still kicking on at the grand old age of 12, despite having had cancer for the past 3 years

You can always attach the tag to his harness or leash. ;) ha would you believe i have never thought of that?
-
Sally only wears a collar when we are out. Bert never wears one, he had throat surgery earlier this year and the specialist advised against him wearing a collar ever again. I worry sometimes we will be stopped and fined for bert not wearing his council tag but I am willing to cop a fine rather than risk his health

have you done any obedience training with miley?
-
now that face couldnt do any wrong, could it? ;)

I still dont know what to make of Sally! lol One thing I did love about the puppy stage, was the cute fat puppy belly
-
where were you 6 months ago? I would of driven them to your place free of charge and even cooked you a complimentary dinner! ;)
-
My favourite threat to Sally when she was a bub was 'I'll take you back to the breeder!' ;) I was completely unprepared for the whirlwind border collie puppy, thought I would be driven to the nuthouse! then 6 weeks later we got bert, cause we didnt learn the first time! there have been times when i would have traded them both for a stiff drink but I have to admit, I'm glad I didnt
