If you're keen to come along, please add your name, your dog/s' name, and what you'd like to bring, to the list! Or, feel free to ask any questions. For those who haven't come along before, our DOL booking includes exclusive use of the Lagoon Pool (from 10am-1pm only), the main grassed run (with shade) and the newly built bbq pergola area in the run from 10am-3pm, and use of the other runs where available. A few of us also tend to hang around later than 2pm (Kepala are fine with that, there are always runs available). We will plan to have a BBQ for lunch, will post a suggestions list of what to bring For anyone who does want to come along, there a few things to know: 1. We are going to have fun and let the dogs have fun (this is a big one!) 2. If your dog is not so good with others, it is ok because there are other runs you can use 3. We want ALL the dogs to have fun, so no humping, fighting etc allowed. And as above there are other runs we can use. 4. The more the merrier 5. Not restricted to DOL members 6. $17.00 PER dog (Sorry, but there is no discount for bringing multiple dogs/puppies, its $17 a dog/puppy.) 7. We usually each bring something. Contact and Location Kepala Canine Country Club is located next door to Kepala Pet Resort. We are just off the Calder Hwy, directly opposite the Good Year Thunderdome. Refer to map below. Address: 55 Edwards Road, Diggers Rest. Melways map ref: 3, A1 http://www.kepala.com.au/country_club

Starting Over Dog Rescue
Snout Girl replied to Snout Girl's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
thanks very much for everyone's responses- my friend will go forward feeling a bit more confident now :) -
Hi all A friend is about to apply to adopt a dog through Starting Over Dog Rescue in Victoria and I wondered if anyone here is from that rescue or knows anything about them? Last time a friend/relative tried to adopt from a rescue (from a different rescue)they had a bad experience so I was hoping to get some info on this rescue beforehand. She is concerned that she will be rejected due to working full time, though it would be a wonderful home for any dog to go to. Any information you could provide greatly appreciated :)

I need some advice of how to approach a situation diplomatically. Both of my pugs require 6 monthly check ups at the same specialist vet. The vet is a bit of a drive, and only available limited business hours so any appointments require me to take time off work. It is for this reason that last time I took both together. Last time I booked 3 months in advance so I could get back to back appointments. The appointments are allocated to half an hour each and cost (from memory) around $150 each. So not cheap. On my last visit I was called in at the time of the first appointment (4pm) expecting one dog to be examined and discussed until 4.30pm and then the second dog to be examined/discussed between 4.30pm and 5pm. We were back out the door having had both dogs examined by 4.15pm. They charged me for 2 appointments (almost $300). It was just a routine examination, no tests, no scans, no medications. I felt ripped off having to pay for 2 appointments that were meant to run for an hour and we were out the door in 15 minutes for both. It is now time for the boys to be examined again, but I have been putting it off as I fear a confrontation when I ring to book and want only one appointment, knowing this is ample time for both to be examined. I understand the high costs of specialist veterinarians but it just didn’t seem fair to pay for an hour’s worth of appointments only to be done 15 minutes into the first. How would others approach this?

Hi guys, just got a call from kepala. tomorrow is going ahead, they wanted to cancel on us but even they could see reason how hard it would be at 6pm the night before to get in touch with everybody. have checked weather reports and we may only get 1mm of rain tomorrow so weather wise we should be ok. she did mention that the run is a bit muddy so gum boots or sturdy shoes are the order for the day. def no good clothes or fancy shoes. please please please dont cancel on me as it took a lot of arguing and using the numbers we are expecting to keep the booking.
