  1. Another kudos for good service.... Recently purchased some Advocate from Lovemypet.com.au Accidently clicked on the wrong size (for small dogs rather than medium) Immediately realised my mistake but transaction had completed. Shot off an email 30 seconds later asking for the larger size and that I would pay the difference. It was no problems, I received a prompt reply and invoice and it wasnt any trouble at all, despite it being my mistake. Will def shop there again!
  2. aaaw thanks mate- and your two pointers are lovely as well oh, and its 2 furbabies for the moment, but might soon be 3
  3. no can do folks, will be doing mothers day related stuff all day- hopefully June
  4. Why do you say that? Because at the end of the day the colour means squat, I love the blue merle BCs, but if the right dog comes up, at the right time, and it happens to be a B&W...so what? I could get my pretty blue merle, and it could totally suck at agility, where as I could get a B&W who is from sporting lines and it might become a champion...I know there are no guarantees when it comes to breeding, but the right lines are at the top of my list A very wise way to go about things. I hope your perfect dog is out there for you when you're ready. Thanks lol, I was hoping my post wouldnt come across the wrong way, I really would love a blue merle, but Im not holding out for it, and Im not going to buy a dog based on its colour...heck when the time comes I might be right off dog sports (not likely) and Ill be after a different breed...another consideration is an Aussie, but I really like my dogs to have tails lol, and I dont think Aussie breeders will like it if I ask for a blue merle with a tail lmao Hey GoldenGirl If you are ever in Victoria, feel free to come to our place for merle border collie cuddles I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting an aeshetically appealing dog, as long as it doesnt come at the cost of other important factors: eg temperament, health testing etc. we were lucky that we found a breeder that did all the necessary health testing, had dogs with lovely temperaments, and bred from show lines so we knew, with appropriate physcial and mental stumulation, it would fit into our suburban household. we found other merle bcs but they were from working lines, and I didnt feel we would be able to provide them with the lifestyle they required. good luck in your search
  5. We paid $850 for Sally and $1250 for Bert 2 years ago. Bert was the going rate, Sally was more expensive than black and white border collies at the time. Breeder charged more for 'coloured' puppies- thought this was the done thing at the time, know better now.
  6. there is vet near you I would steer clear of, PM me if you want the name there is an awesome off lead park along the maribyrnong called fairbairn park (opposite side to the anglers tavern) always lots of dogs, lovely large area and a doggie water bowl. we take our two dogs to craigieburn animal hospital, we also live near you in westmeadows
  7. I 100% wholeheartedly agree with the list, seems very well researched and considered and it has nothing to do with the fact that I own a border collie
  8. pug pug pug pug pug they do shed, but a ferminator and regular brushing keeps shedding to a minimum
  9. I cant make it again, I'm having a knee operation on the Friday and wont be mobile then :D Sally and Bert miss their Kepala fun
  10. our next puppy will be a male pug I find male pugs are more affectionate and less territorial- as a general rule
  11. sally had that issue with light glinting on the roof from the kitchen knives. it took a few weeks of discourgaing her for her to ignore them, she was starting to get really stressed whenever a knife was pulled out. dont let the behaviour continue
  12. my girl was psycho before desexing, and is still psycho after desexing as for puppies- couldnt think of anything i would want to cope with less! imagine a half dozen of the little buggers! ;)
  13. bugger. was trying to stear clear of putting up the bunnings compost wire as it needs to have roof to prevent one of the older dogs jumping in. thought this was perfect as it has a roof
  14. Just wondering if anyone has used this type of pen system for a baby puppy? What do others think? It would be used for a very small puppy whilst the owner is at work. there are 2 older dogs and the owner is worried the little one will get squished! lol http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Fabric-Dog-Puppy-Ca...;kw=%7Bquery%7D
  15. I will repeat my offer of a playdate or a walking partner if you live near me would be more than happy to help

I also have a border collie and would be more than happy to arrange some play dates, border collies other border collies company. might help you both get your confidence up a bit, my girl is very soft natured. if you are around my area, I would be happy to walk with you
  18. Since Saturday OH and I have encountered wandering around the neighbourhood: 2 boxers- tried for almost an hour in vain to get them to no avail whilst we were searching for the boxers we came across: a border collie (we followed it back to its house- quite some distance away- and alerted the owners it was out. it wouldnt approach us, too timid) a lovely male staffy in the gutter with cars flying past him got him in the car, took him to vet. thought he had been hit as he had blood on him. turns out he suffers from ecema- he was reunited with his owner the next day. a baby kitten also in the gutter handed to a rescue that was taking to vet to be scanned. so little I doubt it would of made it a husky following a lady walking her two dogs- that had a collar with address so home it went, no thanks from owner a chihuahua (sp) x, he was so frightened we couldnt get near him and just tonight, two gorgeous little dogs, a cavalier x and a black heinz dog. followed us on our walk for an hour. bought them home, gave a drink. tried door knocking, people were saying they had been out all day :D back to emergency vet, waiting to hear if they have contacted the owners I dont know if its just my area but everywhere we go there is another loose dog, usually dodging cars on a main road. OH and I seem to be the only ones who stop Please everyone, check your fences, gates etc. Maybe there is something in the water here
  19. It was my understanding that blue eye/s in a blue merle border collie are permissable in the show ring? but a disqualifying fault in any other colour? correct me if I have read the breed standard wrong
  20. Alas the bun was for the humans, but her and bert got half a glazed donut each and were hyped up on sugar for the rest of the night This was after their scotch fillet steak with cheezy eggs dinner
