Thats pretty expensive burley .so what do you feed now?
-
Thanks westiemum, that would be great.BARF is great, the pug loves it,but i cant get him to chew much on a RMB.And the cost is a bit more than i like.I am still doing alot of research on all of this before i change anything. Thanks for the advise and the links.

Hi all, Just some curious questions for you. Can you add sardines to BARF Patties and mix it in? Can you swap straight over to canned(Natures Gift) food from BARF? What should be added to BARF Patties or Natures Gift canned food to make it better ie-sardines,or fruit? I am at the cross roads as to what to feed Wuggles,he currently has BARF with a few raw meaty bones per week, but is really not very keen on RMB's,so i was thinking of swappring him over to Natures Gift wet canned food, and only giving him 1 RMB per week.BARF is really getting to the hip pocket,Natures Gift is a lot cheaper, and i have been told that Natures Gift is the same as BARF,but it has been cooked in the can and sealed all the goodness in. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I know a lot of dogs that still squat. My grandparents JRT x Cattle dog still does and he's over 10, desexed late. Just doesnt. It doesnt matter if he does or doesnt cock his leg, other dogs don't care at all. I dont see why so many people get so wound up that their dog wont lift his leg and mark. Lifting the leg is about marking for territoriality not simply about toileting. My rottweiler will mark lifting his leg, or pee on all fours depending on the purpose of the wee and he's over 2 years old. A lot bigger things to worry about in a dog then whether it can mark or not. I know Nekhbet,i was only having a laugh ,I am not worried or wound about it at all, just curious,in fact it would be alot easier if he didnt cock his leg and mark his territory . Thanks for the advise

I have known a few female dogs that cock their legs to pee,but no male dogs that still squat. Will other dogs laugh at him ?

Thanks PugRescue, where do pups get the idea of marking territory,i mean they know they are out of the house on a walk, but continue to mark their territory? Wugs hangs around an older male Pug when we take him to visit,so he may soon pick up the leg cocking. I know this other male Pug was a terrible territory marker,on the curtains, the dishwasher, chairs, couches, everything,is this normal to mark this much inside the house, and how do i stop it if Wugs starts to do the same? I must say, once the older male Pug had the chop, the marking inside stopped after a while.

Hi all, Wuggles is a nearly 5 month old male Pug,i was just curious as to how old a pup will be until he starts cocking his leg to pee,he still squats like a girl.Even on walks,he does not cock his leg,he hardly ever even pee's when we walk him? Thanks everyone for any info.

Hi all, I have read all the threads on this, but still cant get my little Pug to to lay down.I use the word Drop,as Down is used for off the couch, and to get something from him he should not have is Tar.Supprisingly for a pug he is not excited about any treats,if i try to make him drop with a treat,he runs away and thinks its a game,i have tried a few different treats, but none really get him drooling. Any advise would be most welcome and appreciated.

Worried About My Dog In The Heat!
PuggaWuggles replied to Pete.the.dog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
It seems i have been wrong about how dumb my little pug puppy is.It was his first day outside alone yesterday,i frantically raced home,he was snoring his head off on a pillow in the shade,he loved it out there, today i wrapped some frozen water bottles in towelsnear his bed,so hopefully he will curl up with them.He has 3 water bowls full with water and ice toon put his clam shell under it with a bit of water and frozen water bottles,he loves getting in the clam shell, when there is NO water in it .I am also going to soak the grass before i leave for work next week. And,I have a Cooling mat coming for him next week. The little bugger will be more cool and comfortable than me. -

What a little ripper ! I want to blow rasberries on his head. -
Hi all, Our little pug has recently started having a little cough,it sometimes sounds like he is try to cough something up.This only started on Sunday morning,he coughed for about 5 mins on and off, then nothing for the rest of the day,he did the same this morning, had a couple of little coughs and that was it. Does anyone know what this might be,could it be a cold, and is it worth taking him to the ASAP? Thanks guys

Hi,I had the same problem with my little fella,he would be up at 4am every morning,we ignored him,now he wakes up when we do. Try a couple of frozen Kongs stuffed with their brekky,it will keep them occupied and give you some more sleep, but leave this as a last resort, try ignorning more first, otherwise they will expect treats and food everytime they cry or misbehave. And i agree with Puggy Puggy,a pen or crate is a good idea,I have Wuggy in his pen with his kenel in the dining room,he seems to enjoy going to bed now,and does not have any whoopsies during the night.

Wuggles does the same, being a Pug it is normal,i usually take him outside if it is a bit cooler, let him settle and cool down, then back inside to relax. After he has been put to bed and sleeping for an hour,i always check on him,his breathing slows right down, and you can hardly even hear him breath ,until he starts to snore that is .

Hi princesszelda. On ebay, I sell under the User ID of Aussiepetstuff or you can do an ebay search on Polar Collar or Polar Pad, and this will also bring up the Polar Product listings Hi Dyzney,i just had a look at your Polar Collars on your Ebay site,i was wondering, would these be too heavy or bulky for a Pug,he is 16 weeks old,but i do want to get one for him,as it is really starting to get hot here ? Thanks Hi smitty, thanks for your question. At this age I would think he may struggly a bit with the weight and bulk of the collar. For the size of a Pug, they are very strong and tough (when a bit older of course), so there is no reason he would not be able to wear one comfortably soon. You can see how he goes in one over the coming warmer months, as he will be growing quickly at this age. It will certainly not hurt him to try it on for short periods and let him get used to the bulk and weight, and then as he grows a bit stronger, he will manage very well. Even I notice the weight in mine if I am wearing it working and bending forward over my packing station for long periods. So dogs, as they are constantly leaning that way will notice the weight if they are small, weak and young. The thing with these Collars, as you have already realised, they will be a bulky and heavy type of product once soaked and activated. Therefore even our smallest size is not made to suit the small breeds with fine necks. We just cannot cater for these little necks and dogs as the swelled collar will just not corner properly around their tiny necks. Pugs of course are a bit different as they have a very thick neck for their body size. And as you know the brache breeds do really feel the heat. I hope this helps smitty. Hugs to your gorgeous baby. Thanks for the advise and ideas Dyzney,i think i will look at getting one from you fairly soon,as you said,i can put it on him for a little bit at a time, and as he gets older and stronger he will be used to it.They are a great idea, and being a Pug,the heat is an everyday problem. Thanks so much Dyzney.

Hi guys,I just read this in the news and it bought tears to my eyes.I dont know "Nova",the Army bomb detecting dog,but i thought he deserves all our love and best wishes as any other dog does. Fly free Nova, you brave Girl You will be happy over the Rainbow Bridge ! "AN Australian Army dog has been killed in Afghanistan. Nova, the bomb detecting dog, died in a car crash that was part of a training operation. The Department of Defence said medics tried to save Nova but she was put down by the regimental medical officer. Commanding officer Peter Connolly said the loss of Nova had been keenly felt. "Explosive detection dogs are a critical asset in our fight against improvised explosive devices. The dogs save countless lives,'' Lieutenant Colonel Connolly said. Nova will be cremated."

Hi Wotan, with the poo eating stuff,my pug puppy would do the same,he gave it a sniff and a lick, and god knows he would have eaten it if i hadnt caught him,i think it is more of a curiosity thing.I sprinkled Cayan Pepper(the really red nasty looking stuff),it will burn his mouth or nose, but after a few times,he will not even look at the poo.It is better off to leave it in the yard with the Cayan powder on it,just so he knows, when he does a poo and it is still there,NO TOUCH POO POO !!

You can take your pup out be very careful where you take her.We have our Pug puppies 3rd and final vaccination this weekend(due to a parvo scare),he still has not been near(but seen and heard) any other dogs, but we have had him out,we carry him everywhere, show him other dogs, take him to noisy places etc, just to get him get used to things.we are hoping the vet will let us walk and socialise him with knowen dogs after his 3rd precautionary vaccination. If not,it is another 14 days till we can do anything properly.

As i have been told about my Pug and his carrying on and crying , "He is training YOU".Which is true.
-
Yeh,my little Pug man did that exact same thing,i stuck my fingers down his throat with no luck, straight to the Emergency Vet,$600 later they could not even find the obstruction. We think it was his Kibble,so now i soak a little of kibble for him,and put dry kibble in his Kong,so only a couple of pieces fall out at a time, this way he cant gulp a mouth full. I really try to realx him now before giving any food,it seems to work,if he is relaxed,he wont eat like a rabid pig.

Staffie Puppy 'biting' And Nipping Behaviour
PuggaWuggles replied to lindadiosa's topic in Puppy Chat
You just have to be consistant with the "NO".we had the same problem,Biting feet and pants, sometimes just 'NO"did not work, when it didnt work,i Growl at him until he looks at me,then "NO".This works every time. -
I just want to say thankyou, I went and saw my dr who helped out . Previously I was too embarrased but after listening to you guys/gals made me realise I am NOT the only one (even if it feels like it) Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Some of your words were fantastic and yes I am still sitting here crying while typing this but I have a little smile(of sorts...) from reading some of your feedback. THANKYOU each and every one of you. Hi pumpitdog,I am glad you found some help that has made you feel a bit better. Please do not feel stupid for grieving,we all do it and have done in the past and recently. He obviously loved you so much, and you loved your dog so much,it is a natural process to grieve, people do it in different ways, but the most important things is not to bottle it up,let the grief flow, cry, howl, sob, laugh, and remember the great times you had together. Also remember that your dog is missing you, just as much as you are missing your dog, talk to him,it may sound funny, but talk to him the way you did when he was there with you,i found after losing Doug,i would walk around, doing my everyday things, and i would be talking to him, asking him questions ect, that helped bridge a little gap of the loneliness. Remember, greif wont last, but memories will. Good luck to you,try to smile, and never forget the bond you shared.
