  1. Oh that's so sweet, thankyou. Yes she now has her wings. Thanks everyone for your lovely words. We buried her next to her mate Sandy. I am sure they are now running together in a field full of flowers.
  2. Well I never venture in here and cannot reply to any posts as I am always a complete mess when I have been in here to read other peoples posts. Today however I have a post of my own. Yesterday I said goodbye to Angel my golden retriever, AKA Taransay Lady Barclay CD. and later.... Angel went peacefully in her sleep yesterday at almost 15 years of age. Somehow even when they have lived a full life to a good age for some reason it is still not easy to say goodbye. Sweet dreams old friend and run free like when you were 2.
  3. Hi 4 Paws, I would highly recommend Kiltix from personal experience. When we used to live at our old address we were in a high tick area in Sydney. Many years ago I did not use any tick protection, as I thought it was too expensive at the time. I would thoroughly physically examine my dogs - golden retrievers - twice a day for ticks. I would pluck between 3 and 10 ticks off each dog every day. This worked for a couple of years until one of them went down with a paralysis tick. I had pulled ticks the night before and she was showing signs the next day. I used Kiltix tick collars after this incident and for 2 years of living there, never had to pluck another tick from my dogs. Definitely works. Have never tried any other brand.
  4. The Liberty MK111 will dry a fully corded puli in around 2 hours versus around 7 hours for most other dryers. The noise is definitely worth the shortcut in drying time. Yes it is noisy and that is why it is important to get puppies used to it from an early age. Have you tried www.classicshowsupplies.com.au
  5. Hey Storm, That whole litter love water! Molly will be outside playing in the puddles on a rainy day if she has half a chance. From what I understand all the others are the same. Must be in their genes - not all my Pulis love water like this lot!
  6. Hi Noodlenut You have been given some good advice. It is quite common for Pulis to initially attack the dryer or vacuum. They feel out of control they need to get that big noisy thing before it gets them! I start my puppies with a normal hair dryer on low heat setting - much quieter than a dog dryer. I cuddle them while they are on the table and start holding the dryer far away and gradually get closer and closer with time and it could take a few weeks. I never push them to the next level until they are ready. Next step I introduce the noisy dog dryer. On low setting I have the unit as far away as possible and dry with one hose to start with, again cuddling the pup (and to an extend preventing them from jumping off the table ). A grooming table is a must so that they have a designated area for the job. Once they are comfortable with this I progress them to the crate, again on low setting and only for a few minutes to start with. You don't actually need the dog dryer until the cords have started or unless you are finishing for a show, but it is essential you get your pup used to the big dryer early.
  7. Hi KazC Just saw this thread. That's one cute puppy you have there. I have PM'd you re your puppy nipping. Make sure you post more photos in the Puli breed sub forum!
  8. Hi, A 15kg bag of Eukanuba usually retails for around $100. That's why your dog likes it, it's better quality and you have to pay more for that! Petbarn at Chatswood stock the big bags.
  9. Drying a corded puli is very different to drying other breeds. You need much more force to make sure all moisture comes out of the thick cords. The Liberty Ultraforce MK3 does the job, but is very noisy. Dogs need to get used to it gradually. If the force of a dryer breaks a puli's cords, there is something seriously wrong with the puli!! Cords should never break due to air flow. Fine cords are easily broken if consistently rubbed, tugged or they get caught on sharp objects.
