We only practiced on leash walks around the house before Bailey was fully vaccinated. After he was fully vaccinated, we brought him for about 15 minutes walk which slowly increased as he got older. He started attending puppy school not long after, then doggy daycare around 4 months old. Before he was fully vaccinated, we did carry him out for walks. We wanted him to get used to the sights, smells n sounds of the surroundings. Traffic, trams, people etc. We also brought him for short trips in the car to get him used to the car. If you wind down the window a little, he'll be able to slowly take it the different smells as well. All these could be mentally stimulating for a puppy. Regarding the fear period, we still went about on our normal routine in regards to walks etc. We just keep an eye out to make sure he's not uncomfortable about anything.

I've been using Aloveen on Bailey for nearly a year without any problems. Just out of curiousity, would there be any other brands out there that are good besides Aloveen?

That's what I do, with the shell smashed up. He gets approximately an egg every 5-6 days.

There's another news clip here. http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/world/7740790...l-abuse-report/

Well I am very pleased to see that somebody somewhere has finally woken up to the reality. Shelters and pounds are seen as the easy way out of dog ownership. Walk in with a problem, walk out without the problem. The problem then becomes somebody else's problem. You dont have to see the dog die. You dont have to bury the dog. Somebody does all of that for you and all you have to tell the kids is that the puppy will get a new home. Then a few weeks later its off to the pet shop or wherever to get a "better" dog, because they miss having a dog and the cycle starts all over again. Its been too easy for too long. Time to get tough. If the owners of these dogs had to sit in to see the dog die, then perhaps a message might just get through. Souff Well said Souff. So true.

I put dog poo collected from around the garden in nossi's holes and it stops him straight away, hasn't dug a new hole in months :D +1. Works a treat with Bailey too.

I would think that isn't anywhere near often enough. I would be doing it every second day. A weeks worth of urine to wash off.. nothing is going to make that stench go away in a hurry! I have 3 grass squares that i use. And i wash once a week and rinse (warm water tipped over it - not high pressure hose) every 2-3 days. The is what the cleaning instructions were for the product. I cant smell anything unless i am really close (as it rinsing or picking up to move etc.) but i am sure that Jager can smell it every time he goes to use it. I will try the vinegar and see how that goes. Thanks guys I practically do what you do. 1. interchange the different squares of grass I got from Bunnings. 2. Bring the pet loo once a week down to the DIY car wash to wash it down with a high pressure hose and some soap. I normally throw the grass away after around 4-5 months of usage. 3 squares would normally last me around a year. Never had any trouble getting bailey to use it. We no longer use it now as we've moved to a place with a small front yard and he now let's himself out through the doggy door to do his business.

So what did you choose in the end? Chose the Ruffwear Palisades Pack. See First Post for Photo. Very happy with it and the water bladders are great. Looks good on him! Where did you purchase it from?

Just noticed a couple of caterpillars on the tree where Bailey loves to play under. Not sure if Bailey's got hold of any yet. Just wondering are they poisonous?

I furminate Bailey approximately once every 1-2 weeks depending on the amount of fur he's shedding. Each time approximately 10 minutes. I do give him a good brush every 3-4 days.

Got to say it looks pretty darn good!

Have just swapped Bailey over from the Artemis puppy to Artemis fresh mix adult. He looks healthy and his coat is shiny. Have no experience with Canidae.

The daycare I go to have a a viewing window where we could look inside at what's going on. As the others have said, having strangers inside would raise excitement levels etc etc.

Boarding Kennels In Inner-city Areas?

Have you tried Topspot in Mylor? I've used it nearly a month back and would use them again. Just specify the amount of food you want your dogs to be fed so they wouldn't accidentally overfeed them. -
Too Excited, Sometimes Barking At Other Dogs.
luffy4688 replied to luffy4688's topic in General Dog Discussion
Haven't done much attention work with him. ;) Guess it's time to start. Any ideas where to get Click to Calm and Leslie McDevitts Control Unleashed? He's loves to play with other dogs. He goes to doggy daycare once a week and thoroughly enjoys his day there. Out of daycare, we do not know much friends who own dogs. Of those that we know and Bailey plays with regularly, we find that we can walk both of them side by side calmly on leash. It is stranger dogs that seems to be triggering the behaviour. -
Bailey is a Pembroke Corgi, 1 year old. He gets very excited around other dogs, or when he sees another dog across the street etc. Normally what we do is either we try to walk past the other dog as calmly as possible. But normally that doesn't work as he tries to pull towards the other dog. Sometimes we put him in a drop position as the other dog walks past, but he is still very excited and still tries to gets up and go to the other dog, so we have to literally hold him down. If the other owner allows the dogs to greet each other, he is happy just to sniff and then continue his walk. But if he's not allowed to greet the other dog, when he's given a correction(we use a check chain) when he tries to pull towards the other dog, he'll start barking non stop until the other dog disappears out of sight. Any ideas and suggestions would be hugely welcomed.

Bailey's on Artemis and he does well on it compared to the other brands we've tried which includes Proplan, Eagle Pack and Nutrience.

I work at Topspot and would happily board my dogs and cats there! Lovely grassed runs to play in and awesome staff. Chris who owns/runs it is AWESOME. You wouldn't meet a nicer lady. Hi Lyndsay, Bailey spent a week at topspot slightly more than a week ago, did you get a chance to meet him? =) He's a pembroke corgi. Back to the topic, I was overall satisfied with Topspot. I left Bailey there for a week while I was Interstate. He came home all happy and contented. He did came back slightly too overweight to my liking, but I reckon that was prolly my fault for not specifying how much to feed him etc. Just something you might wanna keep in mind. overall, i would be more than happy to drop bailey thr again if the need arises. i'll just have to keep in mind to provide them with a diet sheet.
