  1. Thank you for the thread poodlemum. Couple of questions. 1. How much benedryl should I be feeding him each time? 2. I'm assuming it's common sense to avoid contact with other dogs, but is it okay for a leashed walk? Or should that be avoided as well?
  2. How much should I be feeding him? Anyone have any idea how long would it take him to recover? Sorry for the influx of questions. Bailey's my 1st dog and it's the 1st time he's sick since I got him at 8 weeks. And it's his 2nd birthday in 3 days.
  3. Any idea where do I source some benedryl?
  4. Bailey's been making weird noises. He's sort of making a coughing/choking sound, like he's trying to throw up something he shouldn't have swallowed. He's done that occasionally in the past, and each time he's vomited something out. Now here's where it's weird, he's been doing it every 15-45 minutes for the past 6-8 hours or so without actually coughing up anything. Should I be worried? He's still his usual self. I've included to short clips with the noise below.
  5. Thanks for the responses guys! He does not seem to be in any form of discomfort so I'll take the advices given and just keep an eye on it.
  6. Was about to trim's Bailey's nails when I notice there was what seem to be blood in 2 of his front paws nails. Pictures are included below. Can anyone shed any light on what it might be?
  7. Which part of SA are you in?
  8. As some as pointed out, punishing the dog long after he has did something is pointless. The dog will not be able to relate the punishment to the incident.
  9. I find the 1st picture in the news article pretty disturbing to be honest.
  10. Thank you for the kind words! He is a bundle of joy to be with, full of spunk!
  11. We recently took some pictures and a video of Bailey. And the video http://vimeo.com/21001492
  12. Have used Topspot and would recommend them. They're located in Mylor. http://www.topspottdalmatians.com/boardingkennels.htm If you're willing to travel up North, I would also recommend Keaton boarding kennels in Lewiston. http://www.boardingkennelsadelaide.com/costcontact.htm The rates are on the websites.
  13. Hope that helps poodlefan. Calm and people focussed. Hmmm Pity the hair issue might rule out a CKCS. I was thinking about a CKCS. But didn't know how much it shed. She was initially thinking of a pug, until I told her pug sheds ALOT.
  14. Long story short, I have a friend who's after a puppy. Her preferences/situation are: 1. Low shedding. 2. Small/Medium size. 3. Suitable for a 1st dog owner. 4. About 30-60 minutes exercise daily bout would be able to cope with the occasional day without. 5. Would be alone for up to 6-7 hours a couple of days a week. That's all I can think of for now. If there's anything else that might help shortlist the breeds down, let me know.
  15. In SA there's a difference between custom and personalized plates. With custom plates it's a yearly fee and it's more flexible in terms of the combinations and colours you get to pick. With the personalised plates, it's a 1 off fee but there must be a certain amount of characters and it must be a combination of alphabets and numbers.
  16. I've used Keaton Boarding Kennels in Lewiston and would highly recommend them. Not in the Northern suburbs but TopSpot is good as well. Both times, Bailey came back extremely happy and in good condition. Not sure if both of them do cat boarding or not though, the websites below might provide more info. 17. Used both Keaton Boarding Kennels and Topspot Boarding Kennels before. Both times, Bailey came back extremely happy and in good condition. Especially happy with Keaton Boarding's customer service as well. Topspot Boarding Kennels Keaton Boarding Kennels
  18. Here's a thread about it. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=198123
  19. Came across this from another forum. What do you guys think? Cruel? Or are you guys just fine with it? Videos below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PfnoEKY83g...player_embedded
  20. I use sentinel for my dog as well, never had a problem with it besides the fact Bailey does not like eating it.
