Thanks for the suggestion Kiesha! Have you used them yourself? I'll give them a ring tomorrow.

Due to some last minute circumstances, we might need to drop Bailey for boarding for around 2 weeks in December. It's kind of last minute, so the regular boarding that we use is already full, and so is Golden Grove, the other that was recommended to me. I've found 2 boarding kennels that still have spots left for the dates that we need. Tea Tree Gully Boarding Kennels and Stonehouse Dogs Boarding. I'm made an appointment to drop by each tomorrow to inspect the place. In the meantime, does anyone have any personal experience or heard anything good/bad about either?

Small update. Bailey had a checkup today and vet is happy with his progress. ;) Bailey can currently walk, though it's slightly unstable as he has not regain full control of his hind legs motor movement. But he's been given the green light for short walks, though everything now will be strictly on-leash.

Thanks for the well wishes guys! =) I'll continue to keep this thread updated. Fingers crossed there will only be good news. For those who asked for pictures, I'll have to dig some up. But here's a link to a video that my friend took about a year ago. How time flies. Bailey Video

Back with another small positive update! :) Bailey is currently home! Sleeping soundly in his crate at the moment. Vet said he's doing well and said as long as we can keep him crated he don't see why he should remain at the vet any longer. He can now control his left hind leg, though it's still weak. Vet taught us how to massage his hind legs to keep him comfortable and also walked him at home a little while gently holding up his back. He's due back for a check up next Wedneday.

Updates. Bailey seems to be progressing well. He can now stand on 4 legs with some help to get him up standing. He can start walking a few small steps. He's slowly starting to regain control over his hind legs. Vet is happy with his progress, so fingers crossed for Bailey! Thank you all for the positive vibes, it seems to be working! :) Here's a picture I took of the little man today. :)

Another update. We decided to go ahead with the operation and it was performed late evening yesterday. Operation went well and fingers cross he makes a full recovery. We visited him earlier and the the vet says all signs are good at the moment. He's expected to start regaining control over his hind legs within the next 5-7 days and will be housed at the vet for the next 7-10 days.

Things are progressing fast on my end. Short update. The X-ray's been done. And it's been identified a couple of the discs have what the vet termed as 'calsifed'. He's about to undergo a Mylogram to determine which disc in particular is pressing into the spinal cord. At the moment, surgery seems to be the way forward. Thank you for all the support and positive vibes so far. It's made the experience all the more less frightening.

Updates. Bailey's condition deteriorated badly last night. He couldn't stand on his hind legs nor walk. We're just back from the emergency vet, and the initial prognosis is not good. Basically, the pain seems to be on his back. The vet thinks that the cartilage discs are pressing onto his spinal cord, affecting his nerves hence why now he has lost control over his hind legs, though he said it's a positive that he could still feel pain in his legs. He's due for an xray later today. At the moment we're pretty overwhelmed as everything happened so quickly. Just 2 days ago we had a perfectly walking dog. Not to mention the quotes being given are pretty expensive. At the end of the day, we just want to get down to the root asap so hopefully Bailey could begin his recovery soon. Its eating at me seeing him like this atm.

I'm feeling slightly depressed seeing him this way at the moment to be honest. He's condition seems to have regressed a little. After seeing the vet, he could still walk slowly with a limp, but now, he seems to be back to taking 2 steps, and just sitting down and giving up. I guess, it's the frustration of not really knowing what to do to make it better, and him not being able to tell me exactly where he is hurting that is driving me nuts.

Alright. Updates! I just got home from work. I left for work @ 5.30am this morning and told my partner to keep an eye on him. My partner woke up later in the morning realizing Bailey is in visible pain/distress, hardly being able to walk, and shivering. Not being able to leave work, I told her to bring him to the vet asap. Long story short, the vet said Bailey most likely woke up abruptly and the sudden movement sprained both his neck and his hind leg as his muscles might be still tense from being fast asleep in the same position for a prolonged period of time. The doctor did some chiropractic work and his neck seems fine now but he's still limping slightly. He's been prescribed some Phenylbyutazone tabs. My partner was too nervous throughout the ordeal and didn't really remember what the doctor said regarding the tabs. Can anyone shed some light what the tab does? So now we're suppose to limit his activity to just a short leashed walk for the next week until he's due back to the vet to check up on his hind leg. Thank you for all the replies so far! :)

I've just been woken up by the weirdest thing ever. I was lying in bed with my dog, Bailey in his crate sleeping about a meter away from the bed, just like every night. All of a sudden, he let out what I could best describe as a high pitch scream that woke me up. Lying in bed, awake, he made another exact same scream and came charging out of the crate. Startled, I turned on the light and what I saw was a very frightened dog that refused to come to me. When I tried to advance towards him, he retreated to the corner of the room and refused to budge. This lasted for like 5 minutes. Not wanting to reward him for the wrong behaviour, I got the leash, put it on, and brought him out for a 15 minutes walk, being careful not to fuss over him or shower him with any extra attention. When he came back home, he's still refusing to enter the bedroom. He's one of the most food-motivated dog I have ever seen and he's not being moved the slightest by food this time around. Can anyone shed some light on this? It's kinda freaking me out.

Hello everyone! It's been quite a while since I've been on DOL. I hope everyone is doing well. I've posted this in the breed sub forums as well, but figured I might get more responses here. Anyway, I've got a question. Long story short,I've been given a Blackdog doggy bagpack by a friend. I was wondering, with corgis being a long back breed, is it suitable for him? Also if it is, how much weight do you reckon is suitable? I'm assuming I'll have to get him used to the backpack to begin with. The idea is tempting, as life is pretty hectic for me at the moment. I do still manage to give him at least a 45 minute fast-paced walk daily, but Bailey's a very energetic dog, he could easily do a 2 hours walk. Hence, the idea of a more intense work out does interest me.

+1.

Got them the last time round as well. The 2 brushes with wire bristles works pretty well in my opinion. No difference between the $20+ one I have. And as people have said, the pop-up bit is a pretty good idea. At that price, not much harm trying.

Is this the Blackhawk you guys are referring to? http://www.kylainknls.com/food.htm

They're more than happy to give the dog around a 15 minutes brush daily if necessary. -

Another vote for Keaton Boarding. Used it twice for approximately 2 months in total and very happy with them. Would aslo recommend Topspot in Mylor.

I would recommended Dr. Michael Burke. His clinic is at 52 Main North Road, Prospect SA 5082, not far from Paradise.
-
Just bought it about 5 minutes ago. No idea about the quality, but for $10, worth a try I guess.

Thanks for the advices given so far guys. Just an update. I have not tried benedryl on him. I've just been giving him some manuka honey mixed with water every 5-6 hours since yesterday. It seems to be helping as I haven't heard a cough from him yet today. I've checked in between his teeth, there's nothing there. Not sure if how to check down his throat though. If he starts coughing again, he'll be off to the vet asap. In the meantime, he's going to be quarantined at home. Pretty sure he's not going to like it.
