  1. I've just switched over to the barf diet so can't really offer expert advice as I'm still very much a novice but my first impressions on the new diet are excellent. I switched as after reading info and asking people who use the diet themselves - like you I tend to agree with the basis of this diet incomparison to a commercial diet. I do feed the Barf patties (for convenience - but they actually have ground up bone chunks and what have you in them) along with rmbs - Chicken necks, wings, wing tips and carcasses (they love the carcasses - seeing their eyes light up the first time I gave them to them was remarkable !) - I'm open to ideas over other rmbs. I find they have much more satisfaction with their food, clean out bowls entirely (they used to leave some kibble) and I don't have to brush their teeth like before. I havn't encountered any problems thus far and the dogs have taken to it extremely well and I don't see myself going back to kibble - mind you I have a few bags of kibble left over which I've tried mixing with the patties (just to get rid of it) but they suck all the patties off them and leave the biscuits so I think they have made their discision over what they prefer
  2. Brilliant shots Helen !!, Gorgeous dog
  3. I still don't think MSJ should have to pay to hear the results from a procedure he/she paid for - what are your thoughts on this Rappie ?
  4. You paid for the biopsy why do you have to pay to hear the results ??. I hope Jenna's going to be fine and you start feeling better as well.
  5. Just a quick question - with feeding uncooked organ meats (offal) don't you have a higher change of tapeworm issues ?.
  6. You poor thing HeidiB and poor Busta still only a baby and to have so much happen to her. I'm sure she's gonna pull through all this and have an easy healthy life and leave this speed bump behind. Get well Busta
  7. I don't walk puppies either the only time I'll walk them is lead training so only about 5-10mins inside or on grass (no uneven, loose terrain). What do you guys think about stopping puppies in self exercise ? Just that my new girl goes full ball (longest about 20 min) in spurts throughtout the day and I try to discourage her running full pelt on the floor boards so she doesn't splay joints. What do you guys think - let her do it or stop her when things start getting too much ? Axxl: sorry for hogging your post.
  8. K9 - off topic - but when are you coming to SA ???
  9. Yes I also push 'out' at the end where she runs ahead. I agree Vickie she doesn't ever take bars at training (unless completely stuffed but I stop her before that point) so I know it would have had alot to do with it being our first trial (and jumping into the crowd of people and dogs at the last jump) and yep my voice was quite high pitched Although the gridwork sounds like fun to teach her to be more aware of her body.
  10. Oh I forgot She got her first leg towards her JD, almost fully completed her JD, and a leg for AD if it wasn't for one bar down in each (hence asking about bar knocking) and yes it was near the end or the very last jump But she got third overall both Sat and Sun so very proud of her.
  11. Definately some things to think about and yep I do have this problem - '1. As a handler you start to anticipate the end of the course & may even start to celebrate your clear run before you're finished. A good trick is to imagine an extra obstacle past the last jump to maintain your (and of course the dogs) focus. ' But will try the cavelletti training as well and ask if I can jump full height at trainng instead of medium. I don't think she has a problem jumping the height (see pic below lol) but I do think I may be giving commands at the wrong time as you said above. edit- forgot photo
  12. Definately need to have a stay and excellent recall. Also if your considering doing Obedience as well teach the dog to work on both sides of you otherwise it can be very hard to get the dog working on the right in agility - I learnt that one the hard way
  13. Congratulations Vicki and Trim !! What a special little dog you have there !
  14. Way too go Vicki and Trim !! Good luck for today
  15. What about undesexed bitches ? The only thing that worries me is the continued use of the product and what effect the number of implants floating around the dog's body has ?
  16. ?? May I ask what you currently do with your dogs to exercise them and stimulate their minds ?
  17. They are much better people on here than me to talk to you about clicker training MSJ but as for applying it to a trial you must remember that whether you train with clicker/food/toy none can be taken into the ring
  18. Agree with Tess32, but before I reward I step back into original position beside the dog.
  19. Another vote for Rescue remedy it's great stuff edit: spelling
  20. No problem with ours either I second what Christina77 said do you mean body/fur/mouth or poos ?
  21. I get my girl vacc (C5) regulary and haven't heard about it's association with cancer. What type of vaccination do others give to their dogs ?. I like the thought of my girl being fully protected as she is often with other dogs I don't know personally when training and so forth but it's frightening to hear some of this info, what do others do ?
  22. I prefer to have mine removed, as I would hate for it to get caught on something and have the dog partially rip it out (have seen this happen on other people's dogs - what a mess). They don't need them for any reason and it's easy to get them removed so I'll never leave them on any dog I own.
  23. All of ours are on supercoat and all go really well on it.
  24. Does anyone know if lure coursing is done in SA ? - never noticed any notices about it in the journal before. Is it breed specific ? Also do you guys who do it find that it makes your dogs animal chasers ? (reactive to moving objects). I have a energetic wei whom would probably love doing it but as I live in a rural area I wouldn't want her chasing wildlife/stock (which she doesn't but would like to keep it that way)
