  1. hello i also have a near new puppy. he is a little pug and he is nearly 6 months old. now, i'm no proffesional breeder , and he is also our first puppy,so we were also worried what to feed him. i started him on can food. this was a huge no no., so then i did the human grade mince with pasta and vegies, and was advised that human grade mince has lots of preservatives in it ( hey, but we eat it !!!!!). so now i am giving him chicken mince with the bones minced in with the pasta and vegies. i work at Lenards in sydney, and we have so many customers that buy our "pet mince". it's only 2.00 a kilo. and it's made up of the chicken carcass, put into the mincer, so it has nothing added to it. i was a bit worried when our pug was little to give him the chicken mince, but he loves it. and he is only now starting to like his dry food if your little puppies poos are firm, that's usually a good hint that the food is ok. cya
  2. hello tyler i work at Lenards chicken shop in Sydney. our pet mince is made up of the chicken frames simply put through the mincer. nothing is added. i get heaps of customers daily buying the pet mince. we also sell the chicken frames - 4 for $1.50 - great for the dogs teeth.,
  3. hello my pug puppy has just turned 5 months old. i didn't get a diet sheet from his breeder. this is what i feed him. i work at Leonards (chicken shop) in NSW, and i give him our minced up chicken frames - pet mince. nothing but the frames go into the mince. i then cook some pasta and frozen vegies, and add this to the pet mince. Snuffles loves it. and his poos are firm and easily picked up. i did first start with puppy can food, but, stopped pretty quick. i then started buying mince made for human eating. but was advised this is full of preservatives., so i stopped that.

    Pug

hello sammy i'm new to this pug forum, and we have just got ourselves a male black and tan pug named snuffles, cause, well, that's what he does. i was just reading yours and everyone elses answers to the questions. in question 6 - you said that your boarder collies will play fetch and the pug has no idea about it.......... well.............i'm very proud to say, that when snuffles was 8 weeks old, I taught him how to fetch. i am so proud of him and myself. i first noticed that he would try his hardest to bring back a tennis ball, by just carrying the fluffy part of the ball in his mouth. so i kept going with his toys, and balls, and he now loves it and gets so excited when we play fetch. and i laughed so much about how they have no idea when they are tired. just too much to miss out on. we call it "tired eyes". not quite shut, just open enough to see whats happening, but no way go to sleep. and the tinyest noise, bump, key in the door, the car door, the cat meowing, will wake them up. ok thanks for listening. ;)
  5. hello puggy puggy we have got a 4 month old male tan and black pug. i'm new to this dog forum, and i've just seen your pics and your name, so i hope you don't mind if i can ask you a few things. firstly, Snuffles (his name) stinks. i was washing him once a week, cause that's what you do ???, but within one hour of washing, he still smelt the same dog smell. i've now been advised to not wash very often at all as washing takes out their natural oil in their skin, and this gets replaced more often and will make him smell again. but, if the smell is just too strong - like right now- i need to wash him. i've also been told to use oatmeal soap... also, the flappy bits under his eyes are red. it's like a rash, no lumps or bumps, just red. it's not annoying him as he isn't scratching it. he loves smelling bushes and flowers ( not cause other dogs have weed there), it's more than smelling other dogs. he'll reach up and smell flowers. anyway, could this be causing the rash. should i got to his vet ?????????????????? omg i'm not used to having a puppy in the house. we used to have a long haired german shepherd, but we got him when he was 3 years old..............and he died 10 years ago. so i'm very new to this new little baby in the house. thanks for listening
  6. hello dogmad last night was the first time i've gone onto this dog forum, so i was pleasantly surprised to see an answer back to my pug story to the other person with his crazy pug. thanks for all the toilet training tips. yes, we do make a big fuss, and give treats when he goes outside. like i said 80 percent of the time he knows exactly where to go out side. he'll even sit at the door waiting if we haven't left the door open. he could be outside for hours, but , as soon as we come home, he'll wee and/or poo inside again. i think my main problem was when we got him at 8 weeks old, every time he did wee/poo inside, i'd get angry and him, pick him up and take him onto the grass. that's what other puppy owners told us to do. i was advised by our local dogwasher, that, getting angry, and picking him up is just what he wanted - attention. to him, it's another way of me doing "puppy play". he even runs around the house in circles with me trying to catch him so i can take him outside. it's all a great game, and i'm playing... once again thanks for all your tips. cya
  7. hello you are suggesting to grab the dogs snout when he is biting. but we have a pug, so no snout to grab LOL
  8. hello we have just got ourselves a new little pug as well. he is 4 months old, and yes, he bites, chews, eats, sniffes, snores , and snuffles ( that's what his name is - snuffles) around. he is a great sleeper, but,he has no idea when he is tired. we can see his tiredness when he gets "sleepy eyes", but there is no way he will lay down and sleep. he is just so excited about anything and anyone. one way i've stopped him from biting feet, shoes, legs etc, is to say "stop" loud and one word only. i used to point my finger at him, but he just bit it, so now i lay my hand up right at his face and say "stop". you have to continuously do this, and everyone else in the family must say the same thing. at 8 weeks of age,i taught him how to fetch ( i'm very proud of this !!!) but, it has to be done continuously. our main problem is his toilet training. he is weeing and pooing anywhere and everywhere. it's driving us mental. he knows where the door is and 80 per cent of the time he goes outside, but, for some reason, in side is where he goes aswell. ok gotta go
