I think you're right,Stormy. Take the money out and the heartless owners/trainers have no motivation, but the ones who stand by their dogs can carry on with their passion. Money truly is the root of all evil But as with most policy development, the most successful lobbyists are the ones with money. I assume nothing will be done?

I saw it... Very upsetting. The footage of the grey getting injured mid race made me teary, as did hearing of idiots pumping their dogs with cocaine etc. What the f is wrong with people?? It's so barbaric and pointless. I just don't understand it at all.

Do You Like It When Strangers Interact With Your Dogs?
mochi replied to Blackdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wow, impressive attitude - you're such a great ambassador. I really like it when people want to pat my dog. Only a few people have done so and they have all asked first. -
I got one by another company from Bunnings. I can't remember the name but it was more in my budget ($270 I think). It was incredibly easy to install and so worth it. I use a dowel to make sure my own door is securely in place. The only downside is the laundry basket can't fit through now (as Dxenion mentioned), so I have to use a different door if I'm hanging clothes out to dry. With that said, I haven't had it for long, so when it gets colder it will be interesting to see how drafty it will get! Dog loves it.

Thanks RiverStar-Aura, I'll give it a whirl. Good to know it is still functional without tying it to the back headrests.
-
Can you still anchor them if you don't have rear headrests?

Thanks for the explanation dancinbcs and katdogs. I'm finding it so interesting. It must be distressing to see as an owner, your dog in a constant manic state. All the best ES :) hope all goes well with Steve.

Dancinbcs, that is fascinating. Do these types of kelpies and BCs have a name? Or how do you refer to them? It is nice to hear they do have a calling in life! ES, i commend you for working so hard with your girl. I have only ever had lazy blob dogs.

Holy crap- I did not even know that was possible in a 40kg dog! I have only seen weight loss like that on the Biggest Loser. So many questions about their practices... (thank you for PMing their name btw Bisart).

Thanks for this! It is great. Someone in the comments there also linked to a German video which I also found very informative. I love these videos that show the interaction and then replay it, highlighting the body language in slow motion.

Holy crap, he is 20 years old?! That is amazing. He looks quite content :) -
Well said.

Oh my god, that poor dog. How can adults be so bloody thick??

Why is silence better? (I'm not trying to be smart! I genuinely would like to know.)

The gentler pictures make me want to join in. Must be so much fun.

Apollo looks so regal  I just want to hug him.

Help, The Beagle Got Into The Freezer
mochi replied to claireybell's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Wow, that is amazing - is that like 15% of her body weight? Despite the pain, I bet she has no regrets  greedy guts. -
Thanks all, yes Stan's mum I sunscreen her up because her belly hair is so sparse. I can smell the sun smell over the sunscreen even hehe Espinay, I think you're onto something because she loves a good roll around on the grass!

Hi everyone! Just a question for you out of personal interest. Does anyone find that their dog smells different after they've been lying around in the sun? My dog (staffy x with short hair) normally doesn't have a noticeable smell but after a beloved sunbaking session, she smells weird. Almost like the smell of rain It fades after awhile when she comes back inside. I don't think it's the heat that's doing it, because she can lie in front of the heater for hours and there's no smell, it's just the sunshine. I'm not complaining, I just find it very bizarre and a bit endearing! Does anyone else's dog do this?

I am so very sorry for your loss, Teebs. This sounds silly but I will write it anyway... I've really only known Atlas from your old signature with the blue background, and every time I saw your signature, I'd stop and look at him for a couple of seconds. His handsome head actually made me research his breed a bit more and now they are one of my dream breeds. He was clearly a special boy, and behind every special boy is a special owner (I hope you can one day take comfort in that).

Just horrible and cruel I really feel for the dogs and their families, I can't imagine the families will ever be consoled. From the number of dogs being taken, there seems to be a lot of fights being organised...how has nothing been done? A spouse or neighbour must have suspicions somewhere, surely. I'm just so sad and in disbelief that these things are happening.

I love this thread, especially the pics where the dogs are crammed together. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
