  1. I did find some antibiotics that I've started her on - I'm 99% sure its a bite wound because of the shape (semi circle) and where it is on her chin. If you look at the last pic, you can kind of imagine where the cut is thats where the front teeth went in and its puffed up as if its been grabbed there. I'll wash it tomorrow and book her in for first thing Monday. She's eaten her dinner and seems happy enough. Thanks for the replies, its good to have other peoples opinions when you're a bit stressed and mightn't be seeing clearly!
  2. Checa has been outside in the runs all day while I've been out, she came inside tonight and took up her usual position watching the cat. About half an hour ago I noticed her face looked funny and on closer inspection, it seems that shes been bitten through the fence by one of the other dogs The bottom cut is split, I'm not sure how far through - its very sore Shows how swollen the area is I've washed it with salty water and she's not too concerned as long as I'm not touching it - should I take her to the vet tonight or will she be ok til Monday?
  3. Wow!! Excellent choice of colour - he looks so spunky!
  4. I hope you get some responses that help Daggles I've only used it once, as recommended by the breeder of the pup, but she didn't do well on it and I switched her to a good quality dry food instead. The 2 pups from the same litter that the breeder kept had trouble with floppy ears and being generally loose overall and they stopped using it also.
  5. I was pretty cross, because I asked them to when I dropped her off! When I collected her, the nurse looked up her file on the computer and it said "Ear is dirty, but no drops required" I made an appointment when her stitches were due out, rather than letting one of the nurses take them out and had the swab done then - got charged a consult fee too! We go to a different vet clinic now
  6. No, sorry I don't - they were in a plastic cylinder rather than a foil packet though, thats all I can remember
  7. One of my GSDs had a haematoma last year. She had been shaking her head for a day or 2 and before I had a chance to make a vet appointment, she'd shaken enough to make the haematoma so I booked her straight in for surgery. She had a big slit in her ear and several drains around it. The muck drained out around her ear and everywhere! Unfortunately for her, the vets didn't do a swab of her ear at the time of surgery, so she battled with a still infected itchy ear while the drains were in - so had to wear an ecollar. She was on antibiotics. She had a swab done when the drains came out 10 days later and was put on ear drops for the infection. It all healed up fine, it was thick with scar tissue and her ear sat funny though.
  8. What about Nutrigel? I'm not sure if its classed as bland, but it could help to give her some energy and stimulate her appetite.
  9. One of my GSDs failed her hip xray, but luckily for the moment she shows no signs of soreness or lameness. To try to prevent it becoming a problem in the future, we started her on Sasha's Blend (which we were already using on our athritic 12 year old Golden Retriever with great success) and fish oil. The fish oil is which every human brand capsules are on special/best value for money. If your dogs xrays came back ok - could it be a muscular thing? Have you considered seeing a chiropractor or physio about it? Good luck
  10. Theres a condition where the dog gets like a chill in its tail after a bath - it happened to our Golden Retriever once after a bath. She wouldn't let anyone touch it, was upset and held it funny as well. Heres a link http://www.thelabradorclub.com/library/coldwatertail.html Might be completely off track, hope your dog feels better soon
  11. Just wanted to say a quick thankyou for the beautiful photos of Chili - I love them! Hard to keep up with this thread but next time I get some spare time I'll come back and have a proper look through. Thanks again
  12. Thanks 2tollers - she's cooking babies now hopefully, and our other girl is due to pop in 2 weeks, so I hope you will come out here with your family for socializing?
  13. Freckles, I posted some new photos of Chili in the GSD thread - you're welcome to them if you've run out of photos ;)
  14. I've got an anti-bark ecollar (bought from K9 Force) and its fantastic - I've never had an issue with it going off at the wrong time. Its rechargeable so batteries are no problem - just plug it in overnight every couple of days. My Mum has been using it alot on the GSD that lives with her, she runs around like a mad thing, jumps on gates etc etc and unless she barks, it doesn't go off. We have it set so it zaps her, but not too harshly - just so it makes it uncomfortable - so she'll usually bark once or twice when someone arrives and then stop.
  15. Do you think this photo of Indi (Kardin Oleanna) would look good cut out like Kovu? Its my favourite photo of her Baby Checa (Blakngold Lust) How about this one, making the background black n white and just Vespa and Corser the cat in colour? What kinds of photos are good to play with?
  16. Thats beautiful Freckles! That colour really suits too I'll have to find others for you to do hehehehe Vespa looks cute with his flying ears too Harminee - thanks!
  17. I'd like some next time you're getting them Natalie please - a couple of boxes of necks
  18. Heres some you can play with if you like Vespa Vespa Desmo Indi Desmo ETA names - can give reg. names for the GSDs if anyone wants them
  19. I feed Advance and think its great. The show dogs and high energy dogs do really well on the Energy variety, and I raise my pups on the large breed Growth.

    Bayliss

Its been 4 years since the original best dog in the world died. A couple of weeks ago, the movie "I am Sam" was on the telly - know the scene where Sam is running along a hallway with a cake or pizza, slips over and slides on his face? Reminds me of Bailey, he was such a clumsy dog - I laughed and laughed when I saw it in the movie, and thought of him. One of my favourite memories of Bayliss was when we lived in Wodonga, he was out on the verandah lazying around. I was upset about something, no idea what. I went outside to get some firewood, Bailey must've known I was upset because he tried to make me play. I had a huge chunk of wood and he put his mouth around it, trying to get me to chase him. Big goose. Another was when my and my friends went swimming at the waterhole in Yackandandah. My friend Krispy was teasing him and swam out a fair way before crying out for him and pretending she was drowning. Bayliss swam all the way out to her, and she splashed him in the face! He was so offended, he wouldn't look at her for days!! Bayliss, you big Rat, you're never far from my mind. I'm glad Chili is so like you in temperament and in the near future new families will get to experience their own best mate with her babies - with you both passing on the best temperament I've come across in a dog. I hope you're looking after Monster and Zac and that Chili's poor boy puppy found you. Your beautiful dad Danny passed away a few weeks ago, play nicely - you're both the top dog. Love you mate, miss you

    Zac Attack

Its been a year since Zac left for the rainbow bridge Of course we still miss your big boofhead getting in the way of everything The dogs all miss you too, no one plays with the squeaky stars as much without you - maybe you took the best one with you. We're soon to have a litter who will be your cousins, to continue the lines of big ears and boofheads - just how we like them. These photos are from when Zac first came to board with me in Wodonga My favourite photo from when he turned into a proper dog I hope you're playing with Bailey and all the other dogs who left us too early - miss you heaps Zac Attack
  22. Tollers, try sending Natalie G a PM - she was getting bulk turkey necks and mince from somewhere, I think it was $20 or $25 for a big box of turkey necks and the mince was even cheaper.
  23. What a bugger I was so looking forward to it and had the car all packed ready to go. I'm not sure that we'll have a chance to do any more trials this year, we've got puppies due and another litter planned. Ah well, such is life
  24. If you do a search for 'greyhound tail' or 'happy tail' you will find some valuable information - happens all the time with greyhounds, there are some very good suggestions for keeping the tail tip protected.
