  1. We have one guaranteed hottie and awesome bedside manner to boot (no, he has nothing to do with my clinic) in the SE but I'm not sure where you're situated Kelpie-i. ;) Yeah theres one in Ballarat who not too bad on the eyes either plus hes a great vet Oooh please PM me and tell me who and where! I like at my vet clinic, that they've noted on my file that I like to see a particular vet and always book me in to see him - or tell me if he's unavailable. I like that they give me a discount on vaccs and chips for my litters and ask to see my Dogs Vic membership card before doing so I have a dog who is on medication long term and my vet suggests I call him when we're ready to change the dose, or if I need more, rather than coming in for a consult - not a big thing but much appreciated When 2 of my bitches had a fight and I took them to the vets, one of the nurses was so lovely to me - I was very shaken up and had some bites on my arms, she cleaned me up and sat me down, then held my dog for the consult while the vet examined her. She even gave me a bottle of iodine to take home. I'll never forget how nice she was to me that day I don't like vets/nurses who don't have basic breed knowledge. My greyhound was desexed this week and when I collected him, the nurse was gushing over what a lovely dog he is and how special greyhounds are. She read through the post surgery care sheet and told me I needed to keep him quiet. "Haha, he's a greyhound!" I said. "Oh yes I know - it will be hard" was her reply :p Vets or nurses who are nervous with dogs bugs me too - I know they see some horrible dogs and examples of breeds but it doesn't put me at ease if they're handling my dogs like they're going to 'turn' any second or are too worried to get close enough for a proper examination. My vet will let me hold my bitches when he takes blood for prog tests - others insist on taking them out the back so nurses can hold them. I guess thats another benefit of building up a relationship with one particular vet - he learns to trust you and your dogs
  2. My 4 year old bitch Checa is 25kg S&S - probably just means that Shyla is smaller in height than some of the other bitches mentioned, remembering that size is an issue in the breed at the moment. I've got one bitch who is 30kgs or just over, and she's on the top limit for size
  3. Not a very good photo, but there was something about it I liked - also one of my first attempts at photoshop Termi 19/1/10
  4. I've got a trolley like this http://www.trolleysonline.com.au/Products/...olley_AT-92.cfm I got mine from supercheap but I've seen them at Bunnings and even Kmart
  5. Gorgeous girl - lovely breeding too Best of luck with her
  6. Termi 13/1/10 - week 2 Rolling around with her favourite tug toy
  7. I can't see Mal, GSDxLab looks about right to me
  8. This is my pup Termi on the 6/1/10 - chasing grasshoppers
  9. My 2 year old GSD is 29kgs, and I wouldn't say he's underdeveloped ;) He's a smaller sized male though and did take ages to grow up This was him at about 15 months and him recently at 26 months A 42kg GSD is a very large dog at adult age so at 9 months Tillys boy is going to be a whopper! Your boy could be from slow maturing bloodlines, or as Poodlefan said, just a small dog. Your vet is very wrong that GSDs are getting smaller, dogs being oversized is a problem in the breed of late
  10. Wow Ravyk, thats amazing! You're very talented
  11. Termi and Yoshi are just over 6 months old and have experienced much more rain than sunshine and warmth! After a beautiful day yesterday, they went for a splash in the dam - the first time they've really had a proper swim Swimming is serious business so we've got our serious faces on Silly faces must mean its time for... Zoomies!! Yoshi pauses to pose Then leaps out to chase Termi The dam banks double as a velodrome for puppy racing My beautiful girls
  12. 'A' stamp scheme - Hips that have a sufficiently low score - a maximum of score 8 per hip (out of a possible 53 ), with no more than 3 points in any one area, receive an `A` stamp. 0/0 is the best possible score for hips. The results are all correlated so that statistics on the breed average and that of the major producing sires can be analyzed in an effort to lower the breed hip average and to avoid poor hip producing lines. 'Z' stamp scheme - Elbows are measured for any degree of arthritic change, and are Graded as Normal, Grade 1 or Grade 2. Grade 3 and arthritic changes of greater than 4mm will fail the scheme. 0/0 is the best possible score for elbows. Breeder avoid doubling up on the condition where ever possible. The Breed Survey Scheme has been set up to evaluate the soundness and quality of breeding stock throughout Australia. All the presenting dogs must be over 18 months of age, tattooed, must possess the `A` and `Z` stamp and present a 5-generation pedigree at time of survey. The dogs are all weighed; measured and examined for correctness of dentition, construction and soundness of nerves, ( this involves a gun test and crowd test ). Class One animals are considered well above the breed average; Class Two animals are considered above average which may have minor constructional faults, dentition faults. A breed survey book is produced annually which contains the results of all breed surveys within Australia as well as the dogs which passed the `A` &`Z` stamp (This information came from one of the state GSD clubs website but I can't remember which one The info is true for all of the state clubs though)
  13. Isn't it likely that its because she's had a big change (you coming home after being away for a year) and thats causing her anxiety?
  14. My GSDs are doing better on Great Barko than they have on any other food, including super premiums. No problems with yuck poo and I soak it prior to feeding and have never found it 'setting like concrete.' I did find it too rich for one of my greyhounds though, and have to watch my older, less active dogs as they put weight on very easily with the Great Barko - fantastic for high energy breeds like GSDs
  15. We've got a Golden Retriever and a GSD on it, they both eat it without fuss either mixed in, or sprinkled on top of their food
  16. One of my GSDs got very sick recently after I changed her dry food to a beef based one, and on top of that, gave her antibiotics in beef mince After we worked out it was the beef making her sick, she ate only chicken and rice for a few weeks to give her tummy a rest and she's now doing really well on Supercoat Sensitive.
  17. The recall is offlead too ;)
  18. If you plan on using a hydrobath in the future, might as well get her used to it from the start - the bath part isn't much different to using the hose over the bathtub at home, but the dryer is loud and will take some getting used to in most cases. Because GSDs have an undercoat designed to keep them dry, once they're wet through, they can take ages to dry - so access to a dryer like at the do-it-yourself hydrobaths is great for colder weather. Puppy coats don't take long to dry though so I've just been bathing mine at home in the bathtub and toweling them off. I like Fidos Puppy and Kitten shampoo Its very gentle and smells great. You can also have on hand a bottle of no more tears baby shampoo, for doing her face because it won't sting her eyes (I dilute it a bit, otherwise you have to rinse their face for ages and they hate it!)
  19. I've got a couple who have 'greasy' coats and need bathing every month or 2, and others who get a couple of baths a year without ever seeming to need it! Agree with the others though, get your pup used to being bathed while she's still little. My 2x 3.5 month old pups have been through the wash 4 or 5 times already - it really makes a big difference for when they're grown up and need a bath.
  20. Looks like a nice lean fit dog to me - just how they should be
  21. Heres some pics of Indi with the Iqube But watch out when they figure the game out - the cube gets thrown around quiet violently!! http://s3.photobucket.com/albums/y94/blakn...nt=P1010328.flv Monza thinks its wonderful too, he really likes the squeaky balls and once he's got one in his mouth its impossible to remove it!
  22. Mine arrived today, thanks Wagsalot They're a big hit, I'll try to get some photos later
  23. It sure did dissapear quickly Excuse the dog getting in the way of the photo of my grass but this is what my place looks like currently
