Hi All, My partner and I want to go away for a weekend with our fur child in winter and looking for recommendations of pet friendly accommodations in Victoria where is snows. We have been told that Falls Creek and Hotham don't allow dogs that aren't residents of the area. Any info would be great. Thanks Mel

Hi Esky, I also did Pet Resumes and made it very thorough, I had a lot of people laugh at me for doing it but but we found a great house with a big back yard and the agent told us that her and the landlord were blown away with the pet resumes. I included dog training certificates, vaccination and health history. I even had my vet write a small report on each pet about their general health. I also included microchip paperwork, desexing paperwork etc. I also wrote a 1 page report on each pet that gave a general overview on how I care for them, what they require etc etc. I also included a small photo of each of them and put this on their reports. Hope that helps :D Mel

What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Your Dog's Been Called?
Sky_Mel replied to ~Rumour~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
My German sheppy gets called a Belgian ALOT. Lots of kids think I own a real Wolf haha -
I use that as well as the ear cream, works great!

That is just disgusting. I cannot believe there are people like this in this world. My thoughts are with her and her dog

My girl suffered from it when she was younger. On instruction from my trainer I fed her in the car BUT I never drove with her eating or after eating. Once she was comfortable just eating in the car I would then have the car running whilst I fed her, again I never drove with her eating or just after. After doing this for a while I have never had an issue again, she is now 3 and no slip ups

Hi Guys, I just wanted some recommendations on blow dryers. I really don't want to spend over $200 on one so just after some recommendations. I am even happy to purchase a second hand one as this will only be used at home on my girl every now and then. Appreciate any feedback Mel

Question Of What I Guess You Could Call Morals
Sky_Mel replied to Rach...'s topic in General Dog Discussion
When I was your age I got a job at a pet store and I didn't even last the week! I still work in the animal industry but could never go back to a pet store. I was always against the sale of pets in pet stores but wanted to get as much experience as I could in all facets of the industry. So sad when they were trying to sell of puppies and kittens to people that had no clue -
I wouldn't be going anywhere without my pets (Dog and cats).

I'll be there as well. Putting a shout out about it in my Newsletter.

Try RSPCA, I know you can do volunteer work as a Vet Nurse maybe she can get a foot in that way. Just an idea

Where Can You Take Your Dogs To Play In The Snow?
Sky_Mel replied to nynka's topic in General Dog Discussion
That place looks great. I too have been trying to find somewhere in Vic with snow I can take my girl to as I think she would have a ball. -
My dog had been barking crazy at one point and we saw a fox on our neighbours ROOF! I was so shocked but apparently it's quite common. We called the council and informed all our neighbours about it but we haven't seen it since, not sure if the council did anything.

Yea exactly! If you have a fear of dogs do not enter a dog beach and start screaming. There are dogs having fun and running around. I don't agree with dogs jumping all over people but if they are just having fun and NOT hassling anyone I see no problem. I actually thought that they weren't beaches specifically for dogs but public beaches on which dogs are allowed. If your dogs hassles someone who is frightened of dogs they can still report them and you may end up with your dog decl;ared as dangerous. To the OP my neice used to be terrified of all animals - dogs, goats chickens - when she was younger. There was no reason for it that anyone could see and she did grow out of it with help. It was a real fear and not something to be laughed at. The general beaches have curfews in summer where as the dog beach is 24/7 that you can have dogs there. It is closed off with fences and gates along with signs about the dog beach. I just get frustrated by people coming into this fenced off beach and start screaming by the sight of dogs. There is a the general beach just 50m up where dogs are not allowed that is what is frustrating about this particular dog beach. I have never had issues with my dog there but I have seen it with others. I usually find a spot on my own for my dog as it is but I have observed this happening with other dogs.
