  1. Well done! Grand Obedience Champion! Awesome work!!!
  2. you could try these places http://www.melbourne-corporate-apartments.com.au http://www.parksidestay.com.au http://www.wotif.com/hotel/View?hotel=W3159&&region=8
  3. I use "play" and it gets a laugh at times. What surprises me about release words is the number of people who don't use one in the 2 clubs i train at.
  4. Short answer is that you are not wrong. I think the trainer needs a bit more training. I am trying not to be critical of a volunteer because I am one and understand the effort put in but I don't think they understood the situation. I think you did well and I would also be staying away from that dog and firmly telling the owner to please keep your dog away.
  5. try http://yhst-35696697813149.stores.yahoo.net/empa10.html http://www.pupparel.com/contents/en-us/d85_Therapy-Animal-Patches.html Well done for volunteering to do this. Waldo and I love our visits.
  6. That's good ..but wonder why they didn't use the bin? Apparently they have a "novel" way of training tracking.
  7. Yep! He worked it all out and had her trained without a clicker or jackpots! And you should have seen his helpless expression. Pathetic!
  8. Waldo is crate rested at the moment so I bought him a Kong wobble feeder to keep him occupied. My six year old niece stayed for the weekend. We both gave Waldo breakfast in his Kong toy. Within moments niece is using her hand to wobble the Kong for him because "he couldn't do it with his sore foot." All he had to do was lie down and look cute and he got pats through the crate and treats from the Kong. Kept them both happy. Funny how he managed it on his own this morning.
  9. I volunteer through the Lort Smith Hospital. It is the most rewarding thing to do. I have been visiting particular lady for about 2 years. She never speaks. Very sad. One day I walked in and her vacant eyes lit up and she said "Schnauzer" gave Waldo a pat and she went back to her lost self. Her daughter was visiting her at the same time. We both cried. It makes such a difference. If anyone would like to volunteer we are at least 25 dogs short to fill the roster for our current hospitals & nursing homes and have about 30 places who would like visitors. Please PM me for more details or go to the Lort Smith web site.
  10. The first step is to join Dogs SA by filling in this form http://www.dogssa.com.au/Website/index.php?id=26&level=2 After you have your membership you send a performance entry form available her http://vicdog.com/forms.htm to the trial secretary of the trial you wish to enter
  11. And in your spare time .... I look forward to great results from the "no longer feral one"
  12. Well done! Pity about judge visiting! though.
  13. We are struggling on with the dumbbell! Making progress but slowly. I am also working on duration in heel work off lead. I have been using Rally to build the heeling and thus far it is working.
  14. Small brag-Waldo gained his Rally Advanced at Sunbury today. Not a great run but I was proud of him since it was his first session since injuring his leg. Would have been better if his dopey handler had remembered the difference between a weave and a serpentine. Sorry Waldo!
  15. Not a dog room but on our recent holiday we saw a very clever " kennel" - it was an old huge TV set/cabinet. All the workings had been pulled out and lined with carpet. the legs were taken off. the dog just lay in it looking out through the "screen". It was a British Bulldog and looked very regal.
  16. If you stay at the Jolly Swagman I have 2 warnings for you: 1. Be careful of the speed limit through the town 2. VERY IMPORTANT ******** Be very careful entering the Bakery
  17. Waldo would be a OC in avoiding swallowing tablets! I have entered Sunbury Rally next weekend and a Pass will give us our RA title.
  18. I was wondering about this thread. We have had a bit of a setback as Waldo has had a soft tissue injury in his right hind leg. He is now on the mend. We have done heaps of stationery training. We were as bored as each other! I am now concentrating on Rally and hope to be in the Novice Ring soon.
  19. Love the dogs-but not sure what they were eating. Thanks for posting!
  20. Way to go! I am so thrilled for you!!!!! Well done. Give Violet a BIG hug from us - and Roxy as well!
  21. Go away! I am not buying a kindle! Aww...go on now...you know that you would really like one  To be fair, though they don't have a real lot available yet. They do have Control Unleashed on E Book & a few others. I don't want one!!!!
