  1. My son and family are in Cockatoo so came here-along with 2 kids under 3 and 2 dogs under 18 months...
  2. Thanks everyone for all your help and ideas. I have located a lead!
  3. I have an assistance dog and I've used a few different leashes. My favourite is a thick nylon six way leash. But I use different leashes for different situations. I've never found that the leash contributes to access issues, but the breed of dog certainly does. Can I be of any help? Thanks for the offer. The access issue is that there is an issue over public access in Vic. the look of the lead is for her not the access if that makes sense. What is a 6 way lead?
  4. well I think you should add some pics of your work anyway, including whippy collars and leads. We are posting at the same time. I don't mind if it is plaited at all. What I need is a soft lead that is easy to change length and tether. Sue
  5. Message sent-thanks for getting back to me.
  6. I couldn't find her on the members list.
  7. Thanks for your efort in looking but I can't open this link-sorry. Never mind about the leash in the marketplace Sue. It was mine - we have already spoken about it and decided that it would not suit Hope you can find something too as I know it will be going to a very deserving owner Thanks-I was a bit confused as to why I couldn't find it because of the number of posts I have then guessed it was yours. Now you will have room to put some more useful stuff! lol. I took her shopping today and we saw the Black Dog webbed one and it would work but for a assistance dog I think a leather one looks a bit more professional. she does get comments like your dog can't come in here etc becasue it does not look like a guide dog etc. She can get a bit upset if it happens. I am following up some other leads (no pun intended).
  8. Thanks for your efort in looking but I can't open this link-sorry.
  9. I am hoping they do and still looking. It is for a friend with a disability so it is not straightforward. I will let you know what I get or end up doing. Should have known it was not going to be easy.
  10. thanks everyone for your help-I have a few to follow up on and it has saved me money because I did not have to look at too many web sites and then get sucked in to buying other stuff!
  11. Does anyone know where I can get a leght weight police or double ended lead in leather? Thanks!
  12. We stayed at a pet friendly place and didn't discover the off lead park until our second last day so I would provide info about dog friendly areas & cafes. You may already do this but just in case...
  13. Found this advice: Wandering Jew or Creeping Jesus is a weed of moist, shaded places. It produces extra roots at the stem joints where they touch the ground. The stems snap easily when pulled, allowing small pieces of stem to remain in soil and produce new plants, making it difficult to completely eleiminate in one go. You can tackle this weed by whipper-snipping or cutting off as much above ground growth as possible. Rake it up and dispose of it in a sealed plastic bag. Then cover the area with black plastic or weed mat anchored around the edges. It likes damp soil, so the black plastic is best – it will prevent rain getting to the soil. Excluding light also prevents the plants from manufacturing food for future growth. Then, the most important part is to go around the outer edges of the plastic with a sharp spade and cut through any underground runners that may be extending beyond the plastic, otherwise these parts will keep supplying the runners under the plastic with food and moisture to grow. It can take up to a couple of months to kill off this weed.
  14. Our previous dog was car sick and the breeder recommended Mylanta-I can't remember the dose but it was brilliant!
  15. A friend of mine has 3 month old pug cross with ? and wants to take it to basic obedience. She lives in Camberwell. She can't go on Sundays. Does anyone know of classes around the area?
  16. Perhaps an education program/leaflets in different languages would be worthwhile. I have Asian neighbours who asked me to help them teach their child about dogs because they did not want them to be scared. It took their daughter weeks to pat Cindy. Now it takes me weeks to get Cindy away from her! She is getting a Cavalier next week as a surprise!
  17. This may be of help http://dpipets.milura.com.au/WeAreFamily/I...55/Default.aspx Lots of info for families. Well done on thinking about this.
  18. Were you watching me yesterday? Honestly. Cindy finally heeled well for 5 steps and we went home. There weren't even any Swallows to chase but her mind wan't on training. Tried again in the afternoon and no problems. Nothing "obviously" different. No idea what was different.
  19. There is a training school at Westerfolds Park templestowe run by dogs of Vic which I think operates on Saturdays. I don't know anything about it-just seen the sign and the number is 9898 2100
  20. I have no idea f this is wat you are looking for http://www.casualfurniture.com.au/pvc_tube.htm but this company have provided pvc supplies for a project I was working on (no agility). I found them helpful and they did a mail order.
  21. I think I may have overdone the luring. I was looking after my 10 month & 2 1/2 grandsons. Older brother has baby brothers toys just out of reach and saying "stand" as he moves the toy back. He turns and says to me he doesn't get it".
  22. A big thank you for your help. Just back from toady's class and it was great with about 80% of her halts automatic sits. Trouble was she looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked her to stand at one of the halts. "As if mum...I want a treat!" LOL Thanks again Sue & Cindy
  23. Wow! You have both done really well so well done! Congrats on helping your dog through this. Hope you do well at agility and keep enjoying the training.
  24. Thanks everyone. I tried these ideas today (until it rained) and she is getting it. Looking for a traet on the last sit. She is great with her obedience as we had passed out of the highest level so the command "sit" is not a problem. She just wants to stand as that is what she learnt. I think we will get there. Sue & Cindy
