Pit bulls attack camel train Updated 2 hours 35 minutes ago ABC Newslonline A tourist has suspected spinal and wrist injuries after being thrown off her camel in the dog attack (ABC) Two pit bull cross dogs attacked a camel train at the weekend as it carried tourists along Broome's Cable Beach, leaving one woman and five camels injured. The Broome Shire said the dogs were not on leashes when they attacked the camels on Saturday evening. As the dogs attacked, an Eastern States tourist was thrown off her animal and had to be taken to hospital with suspected spinal and wrist injures. Five camels were left with deep bite marks to their legs. Camel tour operator Samantha Cousins was leading the camel train when the dogs attacked and said it was distressing for everyone involved. "I'm just thankful that more people didn't come off the camels," she said. "I know it has happened in the past and I think it's something where the Shire, the camel operators and the locals with dogs need to work together to ensure that it never happens again." Shire Ranger Craig Burgess arrived at the scene minutes after the attack. "It would be a very scary situation to be in, trying to control a line of camels with customers on the back, with dogs hassling the camels," he said. "It would be a pretty full-on thing to go through. The [camel] owners were visibly upset and a couple of people who were on the camels were upset too." Dogs are supposed to be kept under control at all times on Cable Beach. The Shire is investigating before deciding if there will be a penalty for the dog owners.

AWESOME WORK!!!!

Thanks Jules. she is a bit better tonight but still a bit withdrawn and not interested in much. At least she wants cuddles now though so I am forgiven at long last.

Well I think I worked out why Cindy's pm trial on Sunday was such a disaster! She was lagging almost the length of the lead. On the way to the car I commented to someone that I thought she was limping. She was not herself on the way home in the car and I am thinking she is tired. I get home to discover a very nasty sore on her chest and she is biting at her left hind paw and elbow and wimpering badly. Remembered I had seen a spider near where we were sitting. Gave her a bath. Emailed a fellow DDOLer and our vet nurse. (Thanks heaps!) Monday off to the Vet. She is now fine but boy did she pay me back. Came home from the vet at 10am and she did not talk to me until 9pm. Anyway she is much better today but is still very wary if I call her incase I let anyone inject her, bite-antibiotics hidden in peanut butter were acceptable though. Just have to sneak up on her with ointment. Honestly she is such a wimp. (BTW I let the club know in case but made it clear I was not blaming them for anything.) Is there a prize for different ways of never getting your first CCD pass?

In spite of all this I do love it-I am on a steep learning curve as I was with ADT for ages until they closed down so I am learning so many new things and I know we will get there. Thanks everyone.

Well the grounds were nice and so were the judges. the scores well..... In the am trial Cindy would not drop all the way-it was too wet. I did think that we may have scraped a pass though so I was disappointed. Her SFE, recall & stays were no problem. I was happy with my handling and thought I'd worked out a few things. Oh well. A brag soon I guess although will not enter trialling now til August-I need to work on what is going wrong.

Well I was a bit down but it was a fun day-after the fog lifted. It was very cold early. Maybe PM trials are better lol. Cindy is exhausted but she loves it. She is so alert watching-very cute. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I am thinking of not entering any trials until late August and see if we can work hard on a few different things. May be forced to start a training journal.

Wow! Well done everyone. I know all the work that goes into titles and I am in awe of you all!

I thought my walking went much better although the judge said that i did slow a bit at one stage but corrected myself so I was pleased with that. I guess it is all progress but I do feel a bit discouraged at the moment!

I believe that was you :D . I'll still give you a for effort. Thanks for the :D Maybe it will be fun next week when I am not trialling. It was very funny today. Everytime the steward called somoeone Cindy stood up-pick me pick me pick me...even stood up when UDX was called So maybe it it Cindy who thinks it is fun and not me.......?

I would love to be reporting in the brags thread but not this time! Entered a double trial but both nq. I was thrilled with Cindy's work in the am trial-perfect scores in SFE and stays-lost 1 point in recall (crooked sit). I thought she did well in the heel-I had great focus for most of the time BUT she will not drop in the cold and wet so her elbows didn't go down. In the pm trial she mucked up the heeling up in the recall but lost no other points and perfect scores again in the SFE and stays. Her healing was shocking-lagging but her drops were perfect. :D Didn't someone here say that this was fun? :D Who was that idiot! :D
-
Are you coming to Berwick? Yep? Are you? I am entering my 2nd ccd trial. On the first one we scored 84 but it was a NQ because we only got 13 for heeling.
-
Very well done! :D We are trialling (obedeince) tomorrow-I am very nervous.

Cindy NEVER barks if she is confused or bored... She rolls over for a tummy rub but only if the grass isn't wet
