  1. Wow that sounds organised. What do you mean by session number?
  2. I think I need to get more organised with my dog training. Does anyone keep a journal or log and if so how do they do it? Do you use a commercial book or software? What do you record?
  3. I haven't bought from them ...but I do have a wish list!
  4. ABC are reporting it like this in Vic A prize-winning chihuahua stolen during this month's Royal Adelaide Show has been found safe. Detectives found Harry, unharmed and in good condition, at a house at Northfield in Adelaide's northern suburbs, about 10:00am ACST. The pinched pooch has now been reunited with his very happy owner, Kylie Sunman. She had been just metres away, toileting other dogs, when Harry was snatched from the dog pavilion at the Show early this month. No charges have been laid over the dognapping at this stage. The owner had been offering a reward of thousands of dollars for the dog's safe return.
  5. I think I want one it is just DH who doesn't. Then he didn't want one dog and dotes on Cindy. It is encouraging to know that they are trainable though-I had heard some conflicting reports.
  6. Just read this! A prize-winning chihuahua stolen during this month's Royal Adelaide Show has been found safe. Detectives found Harry, unharmed and in good condition, at a house at Northfield in Adelaide's northern suburbs, about 10:00am ACST. The pinched pooch has now been reunited with his very happy owner, Kylie Sunman. 7. Anyone? Problem solved-it is only broken in the ring not when training It wouldn't be handler nerves would it???
  8. you should be very proud of her work-well done
  9. the answer is yes to both. It is weird becasue it has never been an issue. Tomorrow I am going to try two things-an exaggerated heel signal and for me to me next to the start peg not her. She has also decided that start pegs may well be monsters in disguise and sneak up and attack.
  10. oh my! that is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard! I dare not tell you what my daughter thought. Apart from a total lack of understanding of dog behaviour I thought that it almost belittled a very serious issue.
  11. I can add a few: Walking in the park a dog approaches on lead and I call Cindy back and put her on lead. The owner says my dog won't come back but will follow another dog so if we both let them off you can call your dog and mine will come back too. Why not teach your dog I suggest. Reply-it is easier this way. My dog sees another dog, they both play bow and greet and sniff and run. After another sniff the owner says I don't like my dog getting sniffed it is like sexual abuse. An owner sees my dog-oh your dog is friendly only black dogs bite.
  12. Thanks Jules. Best not talk about the pm effort!
  13. I find that very hard to believe but thank you. Why oh why do we have to get so nervous!
  14. RS you have done so well with your girls so don't feel down . See the video-totally embarassing-it is good for a lugh I guess. I was so sick with a cold I kept coughing and went home to bed. If you want a laugh here it is Just remember it our worst work and I reckon video nerves are worse than ring nerves ;)
  15. I have a problem with the heel up for the recall in ccd. It was not broken until yesterday. I think Cindy is thinking it is a sit stay. I have checked my footwork this morning and the person observing did not notice anything. I clearly say heel. I think Cindy is thinking: lead off=stay Any clues would be gratefully received.
  16. Some councils that have a 2 dog policy have a clause that if a dog is over 10 years old you can have a 3rd dog. I would be careful to register your dog if you get another one.
  17. I got so nervous that I was seriuosly not going to go. I got up yesterday having done very little training for 3 weeks-had a shocking cold and then went away-thinking why drive 1.5 hours to get another 2 NQs and make an idiot of myself. Decided to go because it was better than doing the washing and gardening and ended up with a Q. I get so nervous that I was not even able to work well when staff n toller (thanks for your help and to Ness too) was videoing me. When I watched it I knew that the nerves would need to go or I would have to take up professional stewarding and not competing. Somehow it just didn't matter as much yesterday and if I could have stopped coughing in the pm trial and scaring Cindy we may have got a 2nd Q (perhaps). But I did get very nervous again in the pm trial as well. What I found helpful was thinking about where I sat and not sitting near people who were competing for every sheep station in the known and unkonwn world and running their own judging panel and sit with the people who were very positive about some part of every dog and handler. I knew that they would find something good about Cindy and myself.
  18. Well done everyone! Sounds like the Royal went well.
  19. Well done, Sue & Cindy. Beautiful day for it. We were supposed to be at Melton in CCD ring too, but I realised two days after the entries closed that I forgot to enter - doofus! Oh well, on to Eastern instead. Are you entering any others in the Melb region soon? If so, we might see you in the CCD ring, we are sitting on one pass also. Yes I am entering Eastern-that is where I train so the pressure is on!
  20. Thanks guys-a little brag compared to some but I am over the moon. (We won't mention the PM trial-just the am one OK! )
  21. I FINALLY have a brag! Sindy got her first CCD pass today at Melton. I am over the moon-she was a trooper!
