Introducing New Puppy To Your Older Dog.
Rebanne replied to suziwong66's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wilbur could be like my Warrior, sh!t scared of the pup though Warrior had 4 to contend with at once. Now he plays beautifully with them and is ever so careful to not put a foot wrong and hurt them accidently. -
Introducing New Puppy To Your Older Dog.

I have always just bought the puppy/s home and took them out to the back yard and then let the adult dog/s outside. Your pup is not going to know Miss 21 or about focusing so I can't see that working. If Wilbur is going to be so excited by having another dog around then I think you need to to have a very good plan, and fences, in place for a long time to keep puppy safe. Recently I bought home 4, 7 week old pups and did exactly the same. Pups out in back yard, adults let out as well. -
My pups are 10 weeks old and already tracking birds flying around. Greyhounds are hunters, Sighthounds, movement attracts them. There is the very occasional one that is ok with chooks, I fostered one, kill a cat as soon as look at it but ok with chooks. I'd never trust one.

you need to lead train Lola first before using it to take her to a toilet spot. I just run my pups outside, no lead, speaking in a high pitched voice letting them know this it the best thing ever! Only time I ever used a lead was for the Princess who doesn't do rain. At nearly 9 she still doesn't do rain but we also don't need a lead

Poor baby, she's never been alone. Most certainly do not use corrections on her for this. She needs to learn this. What is she like outside? Can she go outside during the busy period? Where does she sleep at night and is she good then? What happens if you put her in the crate and sit down and read a book. Her messing when you leave is a sign of extreme stress. Same with treats, they won't take them if stressed, they shut down. It's a greyhound thing. Well it's lots of breeds but greys are very good at shutting down.

are you sure he's not sick? Poor little mite.

where did you get your pup from? If she came from a race breeder it is likely she has gone straight from outside with all her siblings to inside with no one. Huge change for her. If she came from a rescue group, (I know one that had pups a week or so older them my current litter) then I would be asking to speak to the foster carer to find out the previous living situation. Greyhounds are a soft breed, no doubt about it, but what methods would you usually use? How much outside time is she getting?

Benny Update And Photos Of The Others As Well

I'd try a dremel and use it every 2nd day. I use this one. I have had generic ones in the past but this I found is best -
I currently have one with CAR and one with NPR. Will have a look at AAR. Then I might get them all on the same one!

My litter was chipped in NSW and most need to be transferred to an Australian wide company. Which is the best?

Another factor is, can the Mum deliver naturally? What's her build? Bulldog like or whatever else is used in these dogs?

Xray or ultrasound? Usually only Xray in the last week. Could do an Xray now and also do a progesterone test. If it's below a certain number labour is on its way. Google will get the number.

and no one did anything? How awful for her.

I showed a greyhound with two shaved patches on his shoulders, there was some regrowth but it was clearly shaved. He still got points -
