  1. hmm I might have to think about this, I have the weekend off. Will depend on the weather.
  2. Don't say where it is publicly! Greyhounds, even GAP ones, are not supposed to be off lead in Vic, unless private property.
  3. You're such a stirrer. I don't need to take them on neighbourhood walks, we go to places where I feel safer. They go to my mums to play with her dogs, parks and quiet areas (which I have stated before). My dogs don't go on neighbourhood walks either because we've been rushed at too many times. When I do take them for traditional walks it's purely for my own enjoyment, we will go for a coffee in the mornings and a stroll but in terms of enrichment I'd say it's definitely low on the scale for them, I could stop the walks completely and it would have little to no affect on their behaviour. Like don I take them to different places (parks, fields, visiting friends, obedience class) where we train and we play. My dogs are inside during the day too when I'm not home and they are fine. I certainly would not rely on just "taking my dogs for a walk" to solve behavioural issues. The situation much more complicated than that. Don the behaviourist will hopefully give you a good program and steps you need to manage the situation. I asked about enrichment. I didn't say a walk around the block would solve anything. I rarely walk mine every day either but they have each other and a huge back yard to play in, which they do. If this was a newbie posting this stuff they would have copped it well and truly.
  4. You're such a stirrer. I don't need to take them on neighbourhood walks, we go to places where I feel safer. They go to my mums to play with her dogs, parks and quiet areas (which I have stated before). so they are out and about every day, or you do some brain work with them before you go to work? After all a tired dog is a good dog. I could care less if you think I am a stirrer but you are talking about PTS one of your dogs when the fault may not be hers. Fact is they are locked up inside for many hours at a time. Now you are locking one out of the bedroom and she is seeing even less of you. I feel very sorry for the dogs.
  5. How can it be exactly what you are looking for when you have two longhaired, medium size dogs with very different types of temperament as well as a small toy dog. They are all chalk and cheese.
  6. Who knows how long this has been going on for. The new living conditions might have just made it worse and it is now happening in front of Don. What enrichment do you provide for them? Two dogs locked inside for long days and no walks can't be fun for them. (Don has said in the past she doesn't walk her dogs for fear of them being attacked)
  7. I run my evaporated air con for the dogs. I also have ceiling fans and if I am only going to be away a short time and if it is not too hot put them on for the dogs. If I am going to be away for longer the aircon goes on. I worry more about the ceiling fans catching on fire then the aircon. Dogs are in the house with the fans on, when I deem it hot enough to use the aircon, they are confined to the kitchen with the back door open into the backyard.
  8. Currently feeding Optimum, it is available in supermarkets but I get it from http://www.mypetwarehouse.com.au as they have bigger bags
  9. Same here, but it's Fern who is the princess, Warrior will go out and do what has to be done and hopefully Phoebe will copy him, not Fern. And yep, sleep, sleep and more sleep, even the puppy
  10. I intend to send my boy to kennels at peak times or a good friends. Greyhounds are rarely every 6 month bitches, more like 10 months.
  11. perhaps because Bon is now adult , and has lost any 'puppy license' ? Just watched that video - that ain't fighting - that is one dog attacking a submissive dog - = NASTY . very nasty, crate time asap
  12. I have never had a humper, male or female, and the only "marker" was a desexed female pound hound  My boys don't cock their legs
  13. I have to agree, very sad but I can't imagine any good breeder giving you such a short deadline anyway. I would have only given 24 hrs to think about it. How long is a breeder supposed to knock back possible homes while waiting for someone to make up their mind?
  14. Obviously you were told one thing by one person and not the other. Wonder whose litter it really was? As others have said you might have dodged a bullet there.
  15. I had a heavy bias to females dogs just because I did. Had 5 GSD's females in a row with never a problem between them. Then I got my first male greyhound, as a foster, - oh boy was I in love. Since then I have a bias to male greyhounds, have owned 4 males to one female. I do now have another female greyhound and love her to bits but she was partly chosen to continue my breeding program. If I had just wanted a pet I would have chosen one of her brothers.
  16. Ronin is super smart, mine just try and catch the low flying ones
  17. Birds are fair game in my backyard. They are not natives so doesn't bother me.
  18. Your best bet would be the UK Terriers sub forum. Just add your photos there.
  19. a tattoo is still needed for a male, some are cryptorchids.
  20. Not in SA but I had a neighbour say no and the council approached the other neighbour (who was a known troublemaker!) who has said yes and asked him if he was happy to right them a letter so he did and I got my permit.
  21. Legally, in Victoria they are not allowed off lead even in a dog park, but there are a couple of groups that have fun days at local slipping tracks around Melbourne.
  22. I would think whatever you wanted. I only ever fed plain porridge, sometimes with an egg added in. I did do some barley once or twice for my dogs but they didn't seem very fond of it, was a few years ago now. I think you can get dried vegies. Sometimes I buy the cheap brand of frozen mixed vegies and feed that to the dogs but I am not a big believer in vegies for dogs. When I fed raw 100% I followed the original Give Your Dog A Bone. I actually was only feeding them every 2nd day until I go the hang of the amounts of bone and meat they needed. Dogs were happy but I wasn't :D Now I just feed dry and add bits and pieces to that but never vegies and not every day. My dogs don't seem bored with getting the same thing twice a day every day. They do like the odd carrot to chew on, comes out as it goes in
