sorry for the hijack but someone asked for galloping photo's -
shouldn't this be in the health forum? It's been discussed there before

Has anyone done a Anti- Mullerian hormone test on their bitch? If so what age is recommended? TIA

Can Anyone Explain 'itchyosis Carrier' ?
Rebanne replied to Seren's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
try a flea treatment that kills the fleas before they bite the dog -
agree with lamb flaps to put on weight but porridge has also worked well with the greyhounds.

well done! -
The ears unwonked for a while but wonked again last week at 5 months of age

Ahhh see you've already been bitten by the greyhound bug and it's an itch that has been unscratched for too long ;) Greyhound is next on my list as well
-
I'm another like CavNrott, 5 GSD's and now 6 Greyhounds with one pound puppy also in the mix. Like and admire a few other breeds but that's it.

:D :D :D :D

yeah, but it gives you an idea cause not all are so old.

I recently had a DNA test done on my pup but only got an email back with the result. Sure I could print it out and give out the lab's number to verify the result but I would have much rather had a piece of paper in my hand. Still tossing up on whether to have the test done again OS so I do get that paper. Saying that; I could also print up a nice report I am sure.

I sold a pup from my last litter via Gumtree, believe me they didn't get said pup any easier then if they had contacted me via DOL. It's not where you sell the pup from, it's how you vet the buyer. Some of my worst enquiries came via DOL listings, the very worst was one from Gumtree but they were all fairly close. I google people's email addresses to start with. Then I google earth their home address.

I am starting to think some security cameras could be a damn good idea!
-
and what about the buyer who seems to have had 3 pups offered to them but keeps declining them? Honestly I am glad I breed a rare breed so I don't have to cope with some buyers bullsh!t very often.
-
Asking questions to determine if I'm a suitable person for her pups is her right and I respect that, asking for photos of myself and the inside of my home is an invasion of privacy. How about if I was to return the favour and start asking breeders to send me photos of their kennels and/or the pups living quarters and given that most of them tell me their dogs are not kennelled, perhaps I should ask for photos of the inside of their house, what do you reckon? I'd love to be a fly on the wall to see the look on their face if I was blatant enough to ask for such photos, lol. As for being concerned with the colour, type and symmetry of markings.….yes, I am and am not ashamed to say so…or is that only a breeder's prerogative? Fair's fair, give me a break, sheeeeesh. You could ask me and I would have provided them, I've got nothing to hide.
-
Gee you are coming across as very rude. If you had ever bred a litter you would know just how precious our babies are to us. Good breeders put their life and soul into their pups, it tears us apart having to sell them to strangers. But if you want your breed to go on then you have to breed and you have to sell. Just because you think you are a wonderful owner doesn't cut any ice with me. You have to prove you are good enough for one of my pups to get one. The mere fact you have bought pups before without having to answer any questions makes me wonder just how ethical those breeders were.
-
And many people like and respect this forum, though it is not was it used to be. The reason many of us are here is because we like the forum. If you hate it, don't let the door hit you on the way out. Funny I've never anyone that bags out DOL in real life. Must not mix with the right people.

Dog Colour - Greying/fading Gene - Which Colour?
Rebanne replied to kelp's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd use the colour he currently is grey. Council's are not interested in what his rego papers say, and change it on the chip as well. -
well guess you had best find a breeder who does breed the type you are after, build a relationship and be prepared to wait a year or two. I think this is the 3rd pup in how many days? you have tried to buy.
-
again, INTERSTATE breeder! Being interstate should be more reason to offer up a photo of yourself though. well yes I read that further on but my reasoning could also help others who are reading this thread
-
Sorry, but if the buyer does not meet the breeder's expectations they can choose to not sell the pup, regardless of whether the buyer wants to go ahead. Ultimately, it is up to the breeder, she is responsible for bringing the pups into the world. This case in particular isn't that the breeder doesn't want to sell me the pup, she's a little too over the top. What I look like or what the inside of my home looks like proves absolutely nothing. Coming into this a little late but while I never ask for photo's I can see why she might want to be sure the person she is talking to is actually the person that turns up. And they can do that by checking the drivers license photo also matches. Some breeders have been burnt badly.

The Adventures Of Ronin And Tigger - Update 29/05/17
Rebanne replied to Yonjuro's topic in General Dog Discussion
Don't say where it is publicly! Greyhounds, even GAP ones, are not supposed to be off lead in Vic, unless private property. What? Even a green collared one in a fenced in dog park? Yes -
