what I read is that they were given permission by the owner to do so and then they (owner) changed their mind How odd I haven't seen anything about it but who drops their dog off at according to the thread title a "doggie DAY care" and then when it dies there the owner says "oh just bury it then"? Was the dog boarding for a period of time or just there for the day? there is a page on FB, that's what the owner said. It was very disjointed as you can imagine. I'm not sure who or what to believe so I stopped following it. 2 sides to every story etc

All puppies in a litter cost the same to raise whether they end up in a show home or a pet home. The price may seem high but add up all the costs it takes to get a well bred, well raised pup who is from health tested parents and possibly has already had some health tests themselves and you can see breeders rarely make much money at all. I've had 3 litters, only one "made a profit", pity about the other two who cost me several thousand between them. You have had some good responses here, follow them :D

no, sorry. Not planning any trips either.

Maybe there are two types because the ones I have didn't have that packaging and were more square all the ones I have bought, as I recall, are this type. 90 x 70 cms in plastic.

I heard they were discontinued months ago but my local has heaps. Bought 3 packs and there were still 5 or 6 left. Might go back and get more lol

Will post photo later when I get home.

You were right the first time :D oh yeah very true

I find your post really disappointing. You want a dog/pup now and someone should sell you one just because and if they don't I'm going to the pet store type. Sorry one of your pets died, it sucks, but I would have expected more from a long time DOLer.

Get puppy. My last litter all took turns staying with a friend who breeds a different breed of dog. Benefited my pups and her dogs enormously. Hopefully we will do it again one day.

Congratulations!

Do Male (Desexed) Dogs Stink Up Your Yard?
Rebanne replied to Isabel964's topic in General Dog Discussion
All my boys have been squatters. Entire or not the only time I have noticed a strongish odour is if we have been travelling and the dogs have had to hold on a bit longer then normal. ps the only one who pees on my back verandah is the old bitch! and she has done it all her life -
I would be sending pup back and asking for refund.

How To Approach Breeders Listing Mature Dogs
Rebanne replied to McMiffy's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't rehome my adult dogs but I think you are wanting a bit much in a first email. Most of what you are wanting to know will come out as you progress in your talks. I see nothing wrong with a breeder saying a dog might be ok with cats. It would have to be an educated guess if the breeder didn't have cats themselves. Same with the kid thing. Only health test for my breed is only relevant if you were to breed from them so a bit of a non issue for a pet owner. Pers has good advice -
My boy is unlikely to be used while alive but he is already collected for a future breeding.

The gene pool is small for my breed, I use whatever means is available to me, including semen from dead dogs if that is what I think will be a good match for my girl. Only problem is we can not import FS from a dead dog which is a real pity.

be very aware that dogs can and do mate with a mesh fence between them so any run you build needs to have solid sides or very small holes so mating can't take place. Also keep in mind that injuries can and do occur during the mating process so you need to be very, very sure that your bitch can not get to, or be got at, by a dog when you are not there. The drive to breed is very strong. Bitches will seek out males just as much as males seek out females. In saying that, I live in suburbia and have had several entire bitches over the years and never had any drama's.
