I use valuheart for heartworm and dose every 6 weeks. I use a simple spoton for fleas when needed. i.e did them all recently when one was going into kennels. I only use single use chemicals, that only do one job. I don't believe in using multichemicals in one go when some may not even be needed. I just google and go for the cheapest place at the time.

To enter in a neuter class you need to send in your rego certificate and desexing certificate to DogsNSW and you'll get back a Neuter rego. Last I heard, in NSW, there was no fee and they just stamped the original cert. In Victoria we have to pay a fee and we get new certificate.

Congratulations on your new puppy. I'd just do your own thing with the pup until old enough to go to obedinece school. Most won't start back until Feb anyway. Once Sebastion is home just make your own program. I've never known a puppy not to learn sit before getting his meal so you can start with that. Lots of help on YouTube and the likes. Work on basic manners, crate training etc and you will be well on the way to having a great dog. Don't bother with a harness, you only need a collar and lead. Take him on car trips to the shops as well ( as long as the car has aircon!) and of course don't leave him in the car.

yes it is if you were a member of your state's governing body and your dog registered with them as it's against the rules and reg to breed a registered dog to an un registered bitch even if the same breed. But obviously you are just another backyarder person trying to make a quick buck and it's come unstuck.

Get your Dad a nice strong walking stick. If people can't respect someone who might be unsteady on his feet, hence the walking stick, and keep their dogs away, he can use it to whack the dogs (or the people if they get close enough)

How could I, stop my neighbour next door, breeding his so called JR to his very undersized whippet bitch? How could I, stop my other neighbour, from breeding her undershot so called aussie bulldog to produce more of the same? I can't, nor can any other responisable breeder. Indeed no one can cause breeding dogs is not against the law.

The way I interpret the information from RSPCA, the reason they discuss the market/demand is so over breeding is not done when there are plenty on sheltered dogs to be adopted. so I read it as don't breed unless there is a need for that breed example the first reply to this about the greyhound. But again that is how I interpret the information. But lots of people, me included, do not want a shelter dog. I had a great little crossbreed, which I got from a shelter but she was my one and only in a lifetime of dogs. I want a dog who I basically know what they will grow up to look like, their typical behaviour, their size, temperament etc. If there was more demand for my breed I would consider breeding more often but considering the risks involved to the bitch, who is my beloved pet first and foremost, it would be a decision needing a lot of thought. Breeding well is not cheap and if any money is made it is usually churned into the next breeding. I actually don't have a problem with a litter being bred to fulfill a waiting list as long as all care is taken, with no difference to a litter bred when you want something. If people want a well bred dog of a particular breed then they shouldn't be forced to go to a pound. In fact a lot would just not own a dog.

There is very little demand for my breed (show greyhounds). Finding homes can be a nightmare. But I persist, as do others, because if we don't the breed might be lost. Certainly some bloodlines would disappear and with a small gene pool that could be a big problem. So I have bred 3 litters in 9 years, 16 living puppies. Out of those 16 puppies so far 2 have been bred. Another one will be bred in a year or two. RSPCA doesn't really know what they are talking about re breeding. (and lots of other things but that's not for here) So I breed for the breed and I do so at a time that suits me. I am passionate about my breed, I do not want to see it die out so I do my bit to keep it going. I have helped several people realise just how much they needed a greyhound in their life :)

But being guide dogs wasn't a labs original purpose. Retrieving game was. So they needed to be able to go all day. I'm not sure what you are after here

I know lab people who show and work their dogs. Just because they are show types does not mean they can't work.

My puppies while with me, don't get treats as such but if you sent up a polar fleece blankie I'd make sure the pups slept on it in the preceding 24 hrs before pickup. Wouldn't be pristine but it sure would smell great to your pup

Yes happened once with me in the old car. Impossible to happen in the Kia as the window's are so much higher then the dogs heads.

Puppies are such wonderful time wasters, you can never have too many photo's (or video's) :D

I never thought she looked pregnant until I looked at the photo's :laugh: The changes were very subtle when living with her. :)

Have a friend who uses one of these for her elderly black greyhound on their morning walks. I use the chamois type cool coats on my lot at shows, occasionally at home

I took photo's of Fern every week for both her litters. One litter of two and one of 10, 8 surviving. I took them side on, from above and also laying down. I love looking back at them. I didn't weigh her though. Bit hard to weigh a greyhound at home :D Lovely memories Kirislin

How odd. 3 people saying it wasn't the dog at all. I can't watch the video for some reason, do they say what they believe caused the injury? --Lhok one bloke said the male dog owner hit the woman in the face with a tolley and a woman said he was swinging two lumps of wood around.
