I use a hanging water bucket with one flat side and clip the handle to the bars as well with a lead clip

Me too :) Mine have their own couch :D
-
Make his mat more exciting then the couch. He's a lab, throw him treats every now and then while he is lying on his mat. Sit down on the mat with him sometimes. I assume you work and the family are at work or school all day so he wants to hang with his buddies. What do you do with him when you get home.? Walks, training, play?

Pig Rails In Whelping Boxes, Help Or Hazard?
Rebanne replied to Kirislin's topic in Breeders Community
Cause they are easier to make. :D I made my own and no way could I make a curved one. Lots of people do use clam shells or blow up pools dependng on the size of the dog. -
Pet Insurance - Premium Increases With Age Or Claims
Rebanne replied to camo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would take out insurance for the first 18 months - 2 years then drop it. This is what I have done with my youngest dog. Phoebe is 18 months old now and her only trips to the vet have been for vaccinations. I am confident she is sound in body and mind with nothing lurking. Sure sh!t can still happen but I am prepared for that. -
I have a hole cut out of my back door and yes it does not go all the way to the bottom. It's starts about 6 inches from the bottom. It's huge to let the greyhounds in. They have no trouble stepping over the lip. It's as high as their shoulders.

Excited Peeing 3Mth Pomeranian How To Help Stop It
Rebanne replied to miss_blue99's topic in Puppy Chat
is your pup kept outside? because you say when you go out to see her. The only thing that may help is to go in and out hundreds of times every day paying her no attention but that's a bit cruel in my opinion. You have a dog who is bred to be a companion so of course she is going to get excited if she only sees you when you go outside. What you really need to do is bring her inside with you and if she wee's in excitement so what, tiny dogs = tiny wees and easy to clean up. As for "freaking" out when another tiny dog barked, put her on the ground, she's a dog even if small. Nothing will change at the age of one if she hasn't been shown how to cope with life. Look for a good training club to help you expose her to other dogs etc. She doesn't have to become an obedience star but some basic training will do you both the world of good. -
Pig Rails In Whelping Boxes, Help Or Hazard?
Rebanne replied to Kirislin's topic in Breeders Community
I've never used them with my greyhounds. -
Yes, calcium helps contract muscles. Lots of breeders also say give extra calcium if bitch is unsettled after pups are born.
-
The current recommendation is to give oral calcium after the first pup is born and then after each subsequent one.

Socialising Scared My Dog And He Cannot Be Shown Now
Rebanne replied to cyrus2015's topic in Puppy Chat
You were hurt and upset about your pup getting badly bitten which is fine for a minute but you need to snap out of it. You are not helping the dog recover in a positive way. Hunting dogs are often shown with scars. Have you asked your breeder their opinion on the pup's ear? I showed my greyhound bitch with 1/3 of her ear missing, result of a dog bite. I admit it was very skilfully repaired but if looked at properly was easy to see the missing tip. -
I have been eyeing these off for a few weeks. My next litter is looking like it's around 2 years away so not sure whether to get them yet.

I never allowed my other dogs on the furniture but the greyhounds just happened Mine will often take themselves off to the crates but there is a fair whack of bedding in there. -

Why Are Greyhounds Always Suggested As "no Fuss" Dogs?
Rebanne replied to Salukifan's topic in General Dog Discussion
which is what I do and have done. I have gone into threads where greyhounds are recommended and said no way do I think a grey would work out. But if this is about the current thread I still do think a greyhound would suit. Of course there are proviso's, as there are with all breeds, but it is very doable. But they aren't interested in a grey so I've bowed out and left them to it. -

Some very long days with half the week someone home all day, not at work all day every day. -
Why Are Greyhounds Always Suggested As "no Fuss" Dogs?
Rebanne replied to Salukifan's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't often recommend them here. If I do it's because they would most likely fit in quite well. They are a no fuss breed, which does not equal ignore them and shove them in the backyard. And greyhounds are not bigger whippets either. -
She could have easily passed them with you not seeing them. I've not known a vet to leave the placenta's in before. As Neko is already on AB's and will be for another couple of days the chance of them still being inside and startign up an infection I would think would be small. Every time she goes to the vet there is a chance she is exposed to something nasty. Try not to worry until there is something concrete to worry about. You are home with her all the time and know her well. If, by a very small chance, she has retained a placenta and an infection does start you will know very quickly and can then act on that. I think the chance is very remote though.

You are very correct there. Even my bitch, who is a fantastic alert dog, would not jump in to protect me (95% sure of that) but a dog who will actually tackle someone, they are not that common and require a huge amount of training. I've owned 5 German Shepherds as well and only one of those did I ever think may have stepped up if it was needed. Luckily I never had to find out. Good luck with your search :)

not to a cafe surely? Strict laws on dogs around food places. I agree a proper home alarm will make things easier. Strangely enough, except for the guard dog bit, I thought a GAP greyhound may suit. Why? Because I've known of a couple who have lived the life you describe and have been very happy.
