  1. I'd just do a straight swap allowing for the pup maybe having an unsettled tummy anyway due to the flight, new home etc and possibly under feed for a day or two. You could also ask you breeder to make sure your pup is used to things like chicken necks and wings ( depending on breed and size ) and maybe a couple of different things that you like to feed. As a breeder I'd have no trouble doing that for one of my puppy people.
  2. your pup needs another vaccination at 12 weeks or more. I only do C3 with my pups at 8 weeks and 12 weeks. I know of no vaccinations that complete the puppy course at 8 weeks of age.
  3. that's handy to know. My girl had a phantom after her 1st season, seemed to really affect her so I might try the tablets next time. Her mother has had to have medical intervention in the past her phantoms are so bad, but her grandmother never had one.
  4. I bought a couple of those to use in the dog crates at shows. I don't use them at home cause my dogs scratch up their bedding so they ended up upsidedown. I have used corded heated pet beds very successfully inside for both dogs and cats. The odd one has been moved around but not very often
  5. Here you go LisaCC Fern and Phoebe on a small 2 seater couch. Still room for the cat at the end if she wanted
  6. I'll have to look for a photo or take one  But yes they can curl up very tight! Does Phoebe have a onesie, um not quite, but between 3 greys I think my last count was 20 odd coats of various sizes and weights Phoebe at nearly 2 still likes to pull her coats off so she mainly wears a Wolfs Den coat that zips up the back, she can't get that off.
  7. Phoebe greyhound is currently curled into a dog ball and it is not cold here at the moment, far from it. I usually feel their ears.
  8. I'd 2nd a short coated dog. Maybe a Jack Russell or similar. I'd be thinking of an older dog as well, maybe an ex show dog, who is already used to travelling around. And usually already toilet trained. You can meet them and get an idea of their temperament. You don't want a very bold, over confident dog nor a shrinking violet as you will be meeting lots of different people and dogs.
  9. sounds like you might be dodging a bullet but I did just want to say one thing. I work nightshift and often reply to emails at weird times so not all 2am replies are from scammers :D
  10. Find a good repo vet and take your girl there. I would never vaccinate a bitch right before mating and would never ever use the heartworm injections
  11. Give us a hint. Was it something that happened because of hard times? was banned from DOL years ago.
  12. a test which has been proven to be very wrong several times here on DOL
  13. and some people are just plain idiots
  14. how cruel and distressing to the dog
  15. I think I didn't stress enough how dreadful it is for an old dog to find themselves moved out. Please don't. Find a way of changing your own system rather than his.
  16. They are not trying to improve the health and soundness of greyhounds, they are only trying to improve the health and soundness of a breed of mastiff and chose the greyhound to cross them with. There were other breeds of mastiff's they could have used. Breeding 80 plus kilo dogs to 30 -35 kilos dogs is not what I call sound practice.
  17. What am I doing wrong? Rebanne, I Don't say you are doing any thing wrong. I don't know that you are and chances are, absolutely nothing. Ditto with the other mentions. No doubt some are. Its human nature that we are an imperfect lot. There are welfare issues associated with the breeds that are increasingly becoming a focus. That will continue while people prefer to identify with a distinct group that draws a line between itself and the communities that hold them. Promoting the idea of distinct and separate values ensures those values can't be shared coopperatively - and in a shared environment thats an essential outcome to avoid rejection. I am a Greyhound breeder and first you say Greyhound breeders are doing it wrong then you say that's not what you are saying. Make up your mind. Don't issue blanket statements.
  18. ...see 3rd link, e.g. 'Supportive Therapie' ....and the stats include open pyometra too. ETA:..and of course the section wrt 'open pyometra' in the first link. The OP asked for help from people who have experienced this, you haven't so disappear why don't you.
  19. yes I think that's what they are called. I always double coat my dogs at night when they sleep outside, single coats for the nights we all snuggle up on my bed :D
  20. Fern hates her photo being taken. This coat is too big on it's own but I bought it like that for the depths of winter cause it will go over another double layer fleecy coat. Must keep the old girl warm
  21. Pic will have to wait until I am on the computer. No idea how to add a pic on the phone
