Nsw To Ban Greyhound Racing From July 2017
Rebanne replied to The Spotted Devil's topic in In The News
12 months and 4 years ago I believe. Why the delay? And what about the person who has had that footage for 4 years? Why the delay? Because the campaign against the ban seems to be gaining ground in the media and people's minds are being changed. Yeah I know. I was being sarcastic -

Well Im not outraged but why is it better for the RSPCA to take them and put them down when the breeders are perfectly capable of taking them to their own vets and doing the same thing? Exactly. At least they wouldn't be subjected to the RSPCA'S stressors while they (Rspca) decide what to do with them. -

No No No! Your pup doesn't need anything for heartworm until they are 6 months old. It is not that hard to remember, phone apps, big red crosses on a paper calendar. I use valuhart for my dogs and administer every 6 weeks. I use a paper calendar.

Looking For Advice - Sudden Back Pain In Whippet

Has he been back to the Chiro? I took my greyhound girl to Werribee vet hospital in Vic and yes spent over $5000 getting an MRI etc when the chiro could no longer fix her back problems. Hard to recommend what to do but it does sound a bit like a slipped disc or pinched nerve. -

I think the "owners" are now just the caretakers. I think the greyhound board now has taken ownership of all greyhounds registered with them. -

Research Survey About Dog Caretakership In Victoria

well the NSW greyhound board has just taken caretakership on every racing greyhound in NSW. That's why I hate the term. You can't even retire or rehome your own dog. On 15 July 2016, the NSW Government introduced the Greyhound Racing Regulation 2016 which requires that owners of greyhounds registered in NSW to notify or seek consent from Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) before transferring the ownership of, retiring, exporting or destroying a greyhound. The Regulation has been prepared following the NSW Government’s decision to close down the greyhound racing industry from 1 July 2017 and will assist in the tracking and welfare of greyhounds during the wind down process. The new Regulation requires the owner of a registered greyhound to notify GRNSW, in writing, before transferring the greyhound: • to another registered owner, or • to an RSPCA approved greyhound adoption program. Participants can notify GRNSW by completing the Notification of Transfer Form and sending it to GRNSW at [email protected] or post it to PO Box 170, Concord West NSW 2138. In addition, the Regulation prohibits a registered greyhound owner, except with the written consent of GRNSW, from: • retiring a greyhound from racing; • exporting a greyhound overseas; • transferring a greyhound to a person who is not a registered owner, or • destroying a greyhound. To request consent from GRNSW, please complete the Consent Form and send it to GRNSW at [email protected] or post it to PO Box 170, Concord West NSW 2138. Persons found to have breached the Regulation are liable to a maximum fine of up to $550. GRNSW may also take further action against anyone found to have breached the Regulation. Participants must not retire a greyhound from racing, export a greyhound, transfer a greyhound to a person who is not a registered owner, or destroy a greyhound unless they have received written consent from GRNSW. In the case of destruction of a greyhound, GRNSW consent is not required if the greyhound is destroyed by a veterinary practitioner in an emergency in order to relieve it of suffering or distress due to injury or illness. -

The rumor of what is next is that all transport or NSW greyhounds within the state and over the border will be forbidden and pet greyhound owners trasporting their own dogs will have to prove they are not part of an underground greyhound transport scheme! I show my dogs in NSW quite often. I will be taking their papers next time I go over the border. Will also be asking the VCA what they are doing about this/what support do I and others have for the showbred greyhounds. -

My parents had 3 registered Pekes as pets. Only one had the very full coat seen in the show ring. They certainly could do much more then walk around a show ring, especially tge one that chased the mail man around tge front fence nearly every day of his life! All lived to double figures. The full coated one did lose an eye to injury. -
sounds good!

Blue is a colour that occurs in greyhounds and I have never seen a greyhound with colour dilution alopecia If the condition occurs in 25% of all blue dogs, I expect I'd have seen it at least once in greyhounds by now, especially considering I mostly deal with adult dogs. The alopecia that greyhounds do suffer from occurs across all colours- although is does seem worse with blacks- and with a lot of time and good, soft bedding, it can be resolved. Diltion alopecia might well be an issue in certain breeds but I think it's a stretch to say it's an any in all breeds that carry the dilution genes. Agree, I've seen plenty of blue greyhounds as well and all have had normal coats

we didn't have the seesaw but we did have tunnels under the dogwalk! There was more then one person who hit their head from not ducking kick enough. Large dogs had to jump 900mm if I recall correctly. You had to be clear and in the fastest top half to go onto the 2nd round and to get a qually you also had to go clear and be in the top half in time. Very few people handled their dogs on the right hand side :D Yes handling is very, very different nowadays

I titled a GSD in agility when it 1st started ????

Yes I saw that too this afternoon, Rebanne. The timing of the announcement has been critical. Yes. To me it's made a mockery of any concerns the government had about the welfare of the dogs, they were only worried about winning the election. If they had really cared about the welfare they would already have a plan in place.

This is a video taken on 1st April 2016. At the 20 minute mark it is clearly stated greyhounds will be gone in 2 months. More said at the 38 minute mark. Wonder what would have happened to the Government if this had been made known before the election?

Yes. When live baiting came out it really kicked off a lot of interest in saving them. What worries me; there is the line is that if the dog has no tattoo, you can't prove it's a grey and therefore it doesn't need a muzzle. It makes a more appealing rehoming prospect. (edit; wtf is going on with my formatting!) I doubt you'll be able to buy one anyway once the businesses that provided greyhound racing supplies go to the wall. Of course you will even if it's off eBay and from overseas.
