  1. is this the official DogsVictoria petition? If so I will happily sign
  2. A large rubbish bin like container with a locking lid. Very heavy rubber/plastic type material. Holds well over 20 kilo's
  3. It is thought this petition was got up by a couple of puppy farms and if you sign it you are supporting them. I suppose it depends on how it is presented. This morning I read it was a vet that got it started. Who would know. I *think* VicDogs wants their own petition running. First is completely wrong, second on the right track...........don't believe all you hear!! if the first is completely wrong then VicDOGs is in deep poo because that came from official sources I might be an official source!! Yes you might be which means someone has lied. Not happy with that

  6. Rural City of Wangaratta says: Animal Business Registration The Act requires that all Animal Business Premises must be registered annually. A domestic animal business is defined as: an animal shelter pet shops enterprise that is run for profit which carries any of the following Breeding of dogs or cats The rearing, training or boarding of dogs and cats I bolded the interesting bit
  7. As a pedigree cat breeder I find that offensive. Firstly, average litter size of 4 for cats. Secondly, maximum of 1 litter a year. And thirdly, all my kittens are desexed before they go to their new homes. It's the ferals, and cats at large whose kittens are the ones which majority end up in pounds and shelters! I still don't see why cat people can have 3 cats and dog people can only have one dog.
  8. if I was selling you a pup I would be asking you to wait until at least 12 months of age for a male and after the 1st season for a female.
  9. yes they have. Saw it earlier on their FB page.
  10. you only have to read the subject below this one. Vic dog breeders are in serious trouble if this gets through.
  11. all sounds pretty normal but I would not be picking him up to take him out to the toilet in the middle of the night at 15 weeks. He should be either sleeping through the night or capable of trotting through the house to outside. Do not compare him to working breeds :D Do you leave him alone in the backyard? He might not be checking in with you because you are always there and he knows it. Relax and enjoy him! :D
  12. I just feed what I always feed, minced chicken frames and VIP dry food. I throw in a few extra's as well, things like eggs, sardines etc but I also do that anyway.
  13. I also say keep the dog but would be worried the old owners will just steal her back when you are not home. So send her back and cease all dialogue with them. Put your name down with several breeders about wanting an older dog and wait.
  14. periodontal disease. Check his gum line, look for red lines around the teeth. Had a greyhound with it, multiple teeth cleans, removals and antibiotics over a 4 year period until I insisted all his teeth be removed. Also had a cat with it but only over 6 weeks before they removed all his teeth on the 3rd clean etc in that time. Both lived another 12 months before other ailments claimed them.

  16. I had an older male greyhound get this - once. His was very mild. I didn't have to carry him anywhere, he still ate and drank ok. Was only slightly wobbly and totally over it in a few days. What clued the vet in was the eye flick, everything else was very mild.
  17. I don't feel at all sorry for the guy. He hasn't made much of an effort with that fence and the dog has obviously been out many, many times to rack up that much in fines and be declared a nuisance. I also think the bit about the nursing home was added in to make people feel sorry for him. Reads like he thinks he is above the law, ie ranger should just ring him to come pick up the dog. Wonder what the neighbours think about the dog roaming all around the place? It would be setting off other dogs and peeing and pooping wherever it wanted. Maybe he should move to Canberra where they are happy to have dogs roaming around?
  18. Skip you really need to read all of a thread before responding. You might want to delete/alter your post
  19. Are you a Dogs Vic member? Did you breed the dog in question? Is someone claiming a dog you own is the parent when it's not? I, for one, am glad Dogs Vic is not handing out info to just anyone.
