I think it is also worth keeping in mind that, no matter how good a breeder is (or isn't), sometimes sh!t happens and you end up with a less then perfect puppy. That's Mother Nature playing with us. To me, if your pup does turn out deaf, and it's a breed not known for having hearing problems then that's a shame but life goes on. If the pup is deaf because of an untreated ear infection I would be livid and most certainly would want purchase price refunded. IF it could be proved that's what happened of course.

agree and if she is deaf then don't feel sorry for her. She still needs her manners taught to her etc.

I use nappy bags for poo's. No idea how green they are.

can you put those softish interlocking foam tiles on the concrete? Is she hot and the concrete cool? Maybe keep a spot on the grass dampish to encourage her there. It's a right royal pain when the callus gets infected and they need to be operated on so I'd be trying to prevent it.

Relax. Yes there are scammers and yes they might be here but its the forum owner who controls some things that appear on breeders listings like the how long they have been a member. A breeder can't put that in. If they have had a member listing since 2000, that's 17 years and a long time to be a scammer and get away with it. Not all breeders have web sites or 20 million questions to ask. The mere fact you can visit is 100% positive. Do get copies of parents health tests and make sure you get registration papers. Most likely they will be limited.

Ring the breeder and talk to them, plain and simple.

Whose off-leash dog beach is it, anyway? Answer: not your dog's
Rebanne replied to Scottsmum's topic in In The News
isn't it a public beach which allows dogs off lead at certain times? I don't know of any beach that is exclusive for dogs at certain times. I think the Mum went overboard if she really said a dog attacked her child but I don't think we can rely on the very biased dog owners word. I wouldn't have put my baby on the ground with a heap of dogs but if there was only a couple and they were a way off I might have. -
sorry never used it. All I do is give folic acid.

I'm another vote for switching to adult food. My pups go onto it around the 3 month mark

Breed recommendations for young teen girl's first dog?
Rebanne replied to Pailin's topic in General Dog Discussion
and a totally unknown background/breed in most cases. Sorry but no way would I recommend a mutt for a young girl's 1st dog. A pedigreed dog you basically know what you are getting, size, coat, temperament etc. My only query on a Rough Coat collie is the coat care -

Make sure you check that you aren't voiding any guarantee given by the breeder by feeding a different food to what they recommend.

simple answer is to not walk him there. He won't be sad if he doesn't go, you could find other things for him to do. My dogs love going to the slipping track for a run but they don't go in the height of summer. So for around 4 months they don't get to have a run. Doesn't seem to worry them one iota.

a funny little story from yesterday when the puppies were one week old. Phoebe moved something, a paw or her tail, and one of the little girls was not impressed and let out a growl. The look on Phoebe's face was priceless. It was so much a WTF look as she looked down her nose at them. First growl I had heard but there has already been a bark or two.

Something seems to have switched on in his brain! 2 more successful bottle feeds and a 100 grams weight gain in 24 hrs. "Red" is with his Mum 24/7 except when I steal him
