@PossumCorner I have had a couple of reads and I think they are different but having Greyhounds I've known about Alabama Rot for a while now. I also didn't take "kennel hygiene is a factor" to mean dirty kennels, just that the dogs are in close confines and maybe even the hosing out was helping spread the disease or incubate it seeing as how it was said humidity was a problem.
-
Jesus I hope this isn't Alabama Rot.
-
depends on the breed really. In my breed you could wait for 3 years for one of us to have a litter. And there are very few of us.
-
I think I would be going with what the breeders and owners of this breed advise. They know the breed best.

Charcoal?

I think there has to be a way to distinguish between the two. Some people value a Speciality show win more then a All Breeds. But you usually beat many more dogs in an All Breeds show then a Speciality . I've just looked at a rosette one of my dogs won at a Sighthound show and it says Puppy in Show but if I talk/write about it I always say Puppy in Speciality Show and I never just use the initials I would always clarify the win, but that's just me.

I think it is also worth keeping in mind that, no matter how good a breeder is (or isn't), sometimes sh!t happens and you end up with a less then perfect puppy. That's Mother Nature playing with us. To me, if your pup does turn out deaf, and it's a breed not known for having hearing problems then that's a shame but life goes on. If the pup is deaf because of an untreated ear infection I would be livid and most certainly would want purchase price refunded. IF it could be proved that's what happened of course.
-
agree and if she is deaf then don't feel sorry for her. She still needs her manners taught to her etc.

I use nappy bags for poo's. No idea how green they are.

can you put those softish interlocking foam tiles on the concrete? Is she hot and the concrete cool? Maybe keep a spot on the grass dampish to encourage her there. It's a right royal pain when the callus gets infected and they need to be operated on so I'd be trying to prevent it.

Relax. Yes there are scammers and yes they might be here but its the forum owner who controls some things that appear on breeders listings like the how long they have been a member. A breeder can't put that in. If they have had a member listing since 2000, that's 17 years and a long time to be a scammer and get away with it. Not all breeders have web sites or 20 million questions to ask. The mere fact you can visit is 100% positive. Do get copies of parents health tests and make sure you get registration papers. Most likely they will be limited.
-
Ring the breeder and talk to them, plain and simple.

Whose off-leash dog beach is it, anyway? Answer: not your dog's
Rebanne replied to Scottsmum's topic in In The News
isn't it a public beach which allows dogs off lead at certain times? I don't know of any beach that is exclusive for dogs at certain times. I think the Mum went overboard if she really said a dog attacked her child but I don't think we can rely on the very biased dog owners word. I wouldn't have put my baby on the ground with a heap of dogs but if there was only a couple and they were a way off I might have.
