  1. Hugs to you DDD. It sounds like you might need to start thinking about making that decision for Jeune. Lots of love and support to you both. My only experience with cancer in dogs was my 1st greyhound Sam with osteosarcoma and he was PTS within a few short weeks of diagnosis. If I ever have another with the same they will be PTS within 24 hours. I don't know if this helps you or not.
  2. no it is not usual. I had a bitch miss and the next time around the dog was hurt so we used FS. No extra stud fee of any sort paid, just all the vet costs. I don't know how they can claim a stud fee if no mating took place. A small handling fee for having the bitch at their home is reasonable.
  3. Can't 100% follow your post but I pay a stud fee for the frozen semen, all costs for transporting the semen to my preferred vets and then for the FS to be implanted, plus all prog tests etc. My last breeding the associated costs were higher then the stud fee. Your post reads that you sent the bitch back to the stud dog owner for the surgical implant. Are you sure the stud dog owner is asking for another stud fee or is it for the AI costs? As for litter size, FS is always tested before implant and unless it was found to be problematic then litter size is up to the bitch.
  4. I agree but if your dog only goes out at certain times you would soon know their routine and adjust the flush accordingly. If dog is outside all day would be easy to turn the timer off. I like the idea. My concern would be how wet does the "grass" stay as I've had dogs in the past who hate getting their feet wet.
  5. I'll be staying home and treating the puppies like mad while the big dogs will be in a crate each with big chews. Warrior could care less but Phoebe can be a bit hit and miss.
  6. have to say I am very happy with my Kia Carnival. With all back seats gone I could fit 3 full grown greyhounds in and show gear. Could fit 3 grown greys with one row of seats left in. Love that there are aircon/heating vents in the back.
  7. I don't think it was an accident at all. I think she left the dog there as she was late to get on her cruise. She's an utter scum bag and deserves jail time, a massive fine, her business ruined and to never be allowed near another animal for life.
  8. Yes a slow feeder bowl might help. Also think about feeding her twice a day so she isn't inhaling such a large amount.
  9. First external parasite treatment AND first internal parasite treatment All dogs In the 30 days before the date of shipment and at least two weeks before the second treatment Heartworm test Heartworm treatment AND second internal parasite treatment Dogs from all countries In the 4 days before to the date of shipment These are 2 of the requirements to ship a dog from Aus to NZ. https://www.mpi.govt.nz/importing/live-animals/pets/steps-to-importing-cats-and-dogs/ So as you can see it will be at least 2 weeks before Elly, the Mumma dog, could fly out. Then there is the restriction on dogs flying in from Dec 23rd to Jan 2 To successfully import your cat or dog you need to: read the import health standard (IHS), guidance document and checklists for cats and dogs check that your cat or dog is eligible for import into New Zealand – refer to the guidance document use a pet exporter (recommended) book an MPI-approved quarantine facility (for all cats and dogs except from Australia) apply for a permit to import from MPI a minimum of 20 working days in advance of the date you require the permit (all cats and dogs except from Australia) ensure all of the import requirements have been met notify an official veterinarian in New Zealand: at least 5 working days before arrival for cats and dogs from Australia at least 72 hours before arrival for cats and dogs from all other approved countries check inspection times for biosecurity clearance for cats and dogs from Australia declare any medication your animal is taking. Note arrangements during Christmas and New Year for cats and dogs from Australia From 23 December 2017 through to and including 2 January 2018, cats and dogs from Australia cannot be cleared at the border. Any cats or dogs arriving during this period will be transferred to an approved quarantine facility until a veterinary inspection can be done. So no need to take a 3 week old puppy that you have no idea on how to take care of and seem more worried it might throw up in your car.
  10. I basically agree with The Spotted Devil except for one thing. I would give a small discount on the purchase price. So I would suggest you talk to the breeder.
  11. I wouldn't be paying for someone else's sh!t happens. I've had enough with my own dogs. As a breeder I would contribute to a problem if I had caused it or contributed to it, failed to test when I should have etc but sh!t happens it just that and it's not my fault. Blame Mother Nature, she is the one who throws the curve balls. As I so rarely breed I couldn't offer a replacement puppy but I may have refunded purchase price even though there is no way known this particular problem was in any way my fault.
  12. Gorgeous girl. Hope it's smooth sailing from now on
  13. All my GSD's were bitches with no problems. My Greyhounds have always been mixed sexes.
  14. Another who, while I haven't got anything recently, has also never had a problem.
  15. Not all ANKC GSD's have ear tattoo's. Only those who belonged to the breed club and not all breeders were/are members. Politics you know.
  16. This falls into the sh!t happens category. Mother Nature does like to play tricks on us. No way the breeder could have predicted this happening. I've known of only one dog who was a hermaphrodite, she had the op and all was well. I agree with RuralPug, the price seems very high. Get a couple more quotes.
  17. the ad finally popped up again @Papillon Kisses https://marsastore.com/products/ramp-stairs
  18. If she has resorbed a previous litter then you would need to do weekly prog tests to make sure her levels don't drop. I always start testing within 2 days of noticing a bitch has come in. Otherwise all I can say is good luck
  19. hmm, I saw some soft stairs on FB over the past few days. I'll copy the link if I see them again. They were like the kids fold out couch/chair.
  20. Half of any spot on I use usually ends up on the coat not the skin but I don't use it that often as I don't have a flea problem here. I must admit I hardly ever use an all in one chew. I prefer to treat as needed and I find tablets are cheaper then chews. So I use valuheart for heartworm - 6 weekly, then advantage spot on 2 or 3 times a year for fleas, and a tablet for worming about 3 times a year. Maybe have a look around and see if you can get tablets cheaper.
  21. puppies are funny little creatures and often do things that no one can explain. It almost sounds like a pain response but that could be just because he was a bit constipated for example. I think he felt off and wasn't sure how to fix it. This morning he feels fine and is acting normal.
  22. how big are your dogs and what are you currently using?
  23. You brought one knowing it was/had been incontinent, asked for tests to be done but then didn't ask for the results or copies of results? What's wrong with the other pup/dog?
