Nothing wrong with either brand that you are feeding. I've fed both to my dogs and pups over the years.

When is it time for the rainbow bridge.
Rebanne replied to fiveplusone's topic in Palliative Care Forum
I very much agree with Perse. Warrior is coming up to 13, a good age for a Greyhound. He is very wobbly in the back end with little to no muscle tone. But he can still jump up on my bed. Which is a little bit my line in the sand. If he starts to become incontinent then he will be off to the bridge. -
do you have a problem with your pup?

How about the owners take responsibility for their dogs actions. Like our poster in general. -
Housetraining question (actually more 'when is he not a baby' question)

excellent update! -
yes except when they offer to pay vet bills and apologise is offered more then once and then a dangerous dog goes under the radar. If I hadn't had encouraged an owner to report, because I had prior knowledge of a serious dog attack and a near miss, then the dangerous dog would still be getting away with things. Problem is the owner of the attacked dog doesn't know if this is the first time or the 10th the dangerous dog has done this. I always encourage people to report

Leaving 14 week old puppy home alone in the daytime
Rebanne replied to dee lee's topic in Puppy Chat
Pup safe your garden and leave her there. Make a digging pit with a shell pool (Bunnings) and good quality sand. A huge marrow bone, shade, shelter and water. -
Non obedient shivering? You have to kidding don't you? The dog is terrified and you are saying he is non obedient. For GOD's sake give him a safe place to go to and think about getting him some meds for these times. This is not a behavioural problem. OMG!!

I feed chicken necks and have done so for years. My Greyhound pups are started on them around 5 weeks old so a 4 month old Sheltie should be fine. You could always feed a whole carcass if you are nervous or a wing. I've never had a problem with "off" necks and I get them from a pet food store.
-
what tdierikx said. I'd be arguing about the fees. Let them fine the previous owner for not doing the right thing

great question! I've never thought about it. Rough and smooth coats. I hope someone can answer. Jack Russells I think also have a rough coat and a smooth and can also get a broken coat which is partly both.

I've never used piddle pads and the last 20 years used a crate for toilet training. I don't know if shelties have a mouse bladder but it seems he has not learnt to hold on for any length of time. It's good he is going either outside or on the pads but time for a more traditional toilet training I think. Remove the pads, reduce the size of the pen and shut the door. Your pup is 3/4 there, just needs a little push to not wee at the drop of a hat. Good luck! -
yes they are aren't they. I do love a properly maintained full coated dog. I admit though I'd never have a coated dog, love to look, not to do the work.

There was the police dog that got lost as well.

Border Collies have 3 fatal issues I believe that need to be tested for. Do Jack Russel's have luxating patellas? I do think people should be encouraged to breed to older studs/semen. If a stud dog gets to 10 or 12 with no issues then that's a healthy dog IMO. Of course health tested for whatever is in the breed. Even bitches. In Greyhounds there is a lot of girls bred 8 years and up. Maidens as well.

I wish giving just a parvo shot was still available. 40 years ago you'd give a C3 one year and a parvo booster the next year. I don't know why that ever fell out of favour.
-
I always did 7 weeks and 12 weeks C3 then the booster 12 months later. The 12 week one is the important one which your pup has not had but there is one brand of vacc that be given at 10 weeks which is full cover. Best ring your breeder for advice and if you don't want another vaccination your vet can't make you.

UD and UDX Scent discrimination
Rebanne replied to Adalimbi's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
It's been a long time since I taught this to a dog but I only ever had two sets of articles and usually left them out in the sun for a couple of days. Seemed to work ok for us. As for how to train it then I suggest to speak to people who have actually done it. I mainly worked from a book and it was hard. -
I wouldn't breed her with that score. By all means get a 2nd opinion if you wish, even another set of xrays 1st, but the the Dr you sent the xrays to is one of the recommended ones. Also no breeder can predict how a dogs hips will turn out, it's not as simple as "oh it's genetic" I had a GSD with terrible hips from generations of hip scored dogs behind her. I know how I raised her. She was one of those "sh!t happens" dogs.

he needs to challenge himself and try to train one of those breeds. Not that I'd let him within cooee of one of mine.
